God I loved this song when it was released!

Can you believe that this mad song was released 22 years ago? It feels like yesterday.

This is pure madness.

This is another crazy song that was released around the same time. There was once a time that I could sing this song word for word.

This is what happens when you mix hip hop, country music and rock music. It's like 10% hip hop, 40% country and 50% rock music.

I gave up on you a long time ago,
But there's something I want you to know,
Your lying and cheating really tore us apart,
Please don't come home
If you gonna break my mama's heart

Running from an angel,
Running to the devil,
Devil!

Just check out that intro.

This wasn't in my playlist, but it was a tiny vinyl disc in my parent's collection. I had actually forgotten that it was by the Beatles.

It takes the place of two other Beatles songs that I badly want to post but can't because I can't find the exact videos that were in the playlist. I don't want to post just any video, I want to post the exact same video that was in the playlist.

The Beatles - We Can Work It Out (1965).

I've wanted to post this song for a while, but I haven't because I wanted to post the exact video that was in my 2005 playlist, but I can't find the video anymore. That video showed a field of sunflowers from just before dawn till sunset (the video was sped up, of course).

This song is a delightful song and that video was a very pleasant video, but I'll have to make do with the official video since I can't find it.

All the Beatles songs that were in my parents' collection all had "Lennon and McCartney" written on them, except this one. This song was actually written by George Harrison.

The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun (1969).

Aha! At least I know that I'm not mad.

I should have posted this song a long time ago, but I didn't because I was searching for what I thought was the official video. The strange thing was that I couldn't find that video anywhere and YouTube kept suggesting another video as the official video. Was it my imagination or was I mad?

Well, I've now figured it out. The video that I was searching for was a combination of the opening sequence of the movie (which has the same name as the song) and their famous Abbey Road photograph.

This song and Paperback Writer have always been my favourite Beatles songs.

The first video is of the opening sequence in the movie. However, the audio is horrible and so I've also posted a second video that has much better audio.

This song was also on one of thise tiny vinyl singles in my parents' collection. I can't remember what was on the B-side.

The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night (1964).

This isn't a rock song (strictly speaking), but it's the thread that ties 3 rock songs that are on this list.

Ritchie Valens originally sang La Bamba and the movie is about him (I've already posted the cover version by Los Lobos). I also wrote about the movie, The Buddy Holly Story and this song ties them together.

You see, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper were rock stars in the 1950s. They performed (separately) at a concert one night, but there was a storm and so they couldn't get out of that city. Someone offered to fly them out, but the plane crashed and they all died. This song is dedicated to them.

naptu2:
The Day That Music Died

(I like Madonna's version, sue me. Lots of people don't like her version, but I love it).

The day the music died. Tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper, who died on the day that music died.

Madonna - American Pie (2000)

Some of the clips in this video were taken from a 1980s episode of the show. For example, the clip of the Fonze dancing was from a 1980s episode and they used a body double to act the scene where he was walking away.

naptu2:
Throwback to a retro song.

This song was actually released in 1994, but the video was made to look like an episode of Happy Days, which was a very popular sitcom in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The people that were mentioned in the chorus were stars in the 1950s (and one of them actually died in the 1950s).

This video was played over and over on MTV and it was on Rick Dees, The Weekly Top Forty.

What's with these homies dissin' my girl?
Why do they gotta front?
What did we ever do to these guys
That made them so violent?

Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yours
Woo-hoo, and I know you're mine
Woo-hoo, that's for all the time

Oooh weee ooh
I look just like Buddy Holly
And you're Mary Tyler Moore
I don't care what they say about us anyway
I don't care about that

Hey!

OMG!

I post one song and it reminds me of another.

God, I love this song.

I don't usually remember the title. I just remember it as, "Oh I feel it, coming back again".

Oh I feel it, coming back again
Like a rolling, thunder chasing the wind
Forces pulling from the center of the earth again
I can feel it!
I can feel it!

These three songs were back to back on an audio cassette that I had. I tried to get all three on the playlist, but I only succeeded in getting 2.

These are blues rock and folk rock songs. We'll start slow and build up the tempo.

The first time that I actually saw her was at the Nelson Mandela concert in 1988. She sang reggae and freedom songs at the time. In fact, she is better known in Nigeria for her reggae and freedom songs.

However, in 1999 she released this phenomenal blues rock song and it became her most popular song in the US.

God I love this song!

"Ate a meal and threw it up on Sunday, I've
Got a lot of things to learn"

"There is one thing I can never give you,
My heart will never be your home.

So what's the matter with you?
Sing me something new.
Don't you know,
It's colder when the rain don't know
It only seems to come and go
Away"

"Stand by me,
Cos nobody knows
The way it's gonna be.

Stand by me,
Nobody knows
(God only knows)
The way it's gonna be"

Yes! I've been trying to remember the name of the song at the intersection of Creed and Nickelback and I've now remembered it.

This was the sequence on that playlist.

Nickelback - How You Remind Me

Creed - My Sacrifice

Creed - Arms Wide Open.

This is one of those songs from my childhood. I feel like I've known this song my entire life. It is one of the most popular songs that has ever been made. It has been covered uncountable times, it has been used in very many movies and adverts, it has become the nickname of very many people and everybody knows this song.
