Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Najdorf: 8:42pm On Oct 09, 2020
itstinaofficial:

x^(1/√x)=2

x=2^√x

let y=√x

x=2^y

x-2^y=0

x=y²

y²=2^y

hence y=2

x=2²

x=4
I think there are some issues here.

Solve for X anyone. I have already given the answer, but solve to get it.
Lets see how good you are
x^(1/√x)=2
applying natural log
In(x^(1/√x)=In2
(1/√x)Inx=In2
(x^-1/2)Inx=In2
since e^In=1
(e^In(x^-1/2)Inx=In2
(e^-1/2Inx)Inx=In2
multiplying both sides by -1/2
(e^-1/2Inx)(Inx*-1/2)=(-1/2)(In2)
(e^-1/2Inx)(-1/2Inx)=-1/(2In2)
since. W(xe^x)=x
adding W to both sides
-1/2Inx=W(-1/(2In2))
multiplying by -2
Inx=-2W(-1/(2In2)
e^Inx=e^-2W(-1/(2In2)
x=e^-2W((-1/2In2))
x will have 4 solutions including 2 complex solutions
don't have the Wolfram alpha but I'm sure x=4

The only/ main issue is the conclusion

"hence y = 2" as a solution to the equation y² = 2^y.

It is tantamount to the following
x^(1/√x)=2
Hence x = 4

what I meant was that. It is not really correct to say
e^ln = 1
There has to be an argument to the log function.

(1.01)4
(a+b)⁴=a⁴+4a³b+6a²b²+4ab³+b⁴
(1.01)=(1+0.01)
1=a
0.01=b
(1.01)⁴=1⁴+4(1³)(0.01)+6(1²)(0.01)²+4(1)(0.01)³+(0.01)⁴
will modify this later, I'm typing on the road
1⁴+4(0.01)+6(0.0001)+4(0.000001)+0.00000001
1+0.04+0.0006+0.000004+0.00000001

1.nth term =3^(n-1)
1st term =3^(1-1)=3°=1
2nd=3^(1-2)=3^-¹=1/3
3rd=3^(1-3)=3^-²=1/9
sum =1/3+1/9=(4/9)+1=13/9
2.
81^(3/4) -27^(1/3)/(3*2³)
(⁴√81)³-(³√27)/(3*2³)
(3)³-(3)/3*2³
=27-3/(3*2³)
24/(3*2³)
24/24=1
4.
sum of interior angles =(180n-360)
1800=180n-360
1800+360=180n
2160=180n
n=2160/180=12
number of sides =12
each angle=1800/12=150°
sum of interior angles and exterior angle of a regular polygon =180
150+e=180
e=180-150
e=30°
3.
y=x³-x
differentiating
y=3x²-1
solving the quadratic equation
a=3,b=0,c=-1
=(√-(4*3*-1))/2*3
=(√12)/6
=2√3/6
=√3/3

For the first question I didn’t try it because I don’t know how to evaluate different bases.

The second one, i tried but i don’t think i got it right (see the workings)

Its not like that I haven’t learn mathematics for the fast 6 years, so my brain is not that active their.

I am trying to brush up my brain

No be 1?

Dy/dx = 2rtX/X - 1

= 2*1/1 -1

= 1

Then again maybe it 1/x the problem is not clear
