NIGERIA AT 60!!

It all started in 1914.

If only the British weren't so selfish;

If only they hadn't conceived that idea of amalgamation;

If only Lord Luggard hasn't signed the bill;

It could have turned out differently.

Our forefathers aren't selfish as we are made to believe;

They aren't corrupt or self-centered as they claim;

They aren't dumb and senseless as the whites always want us to believe;

They resisted and gave their lives to protect the future;

They did their part to secure our motherland;

We all know what they were subjected to;

We all know what they were made to pass through.

Until their grit failed;

Their strength failed and their resolve weakened.

The British taught them how to be selfish;

The whites planted the seed of corruption and self-centeredness in them;

The seed has since germinated and grown;

It is still growing;

And it might continue if something isn't done.

Nigerians are not bad people, we are industrious and hard working;

We are kind and generous;

We have grit, we've got balls and we are determined.

Our dear country isn't failed completely;

It can still be rescued;

Omoye hasn't gotten to the market yet;

Her glory can still be preserved.

The onus is on all of us;

Nigeria can only be saved by all of us;

Her glory can only be preserved by each and everyone of us.

A useless man at 40 is considered useless forever;

However that is not always the case.

Nigeria is 60, but can still be revived;

Our systems can still work perfectly;

We can still have the land our fathers dreamt of when they demanded for our right;

Nigeria can still flow with milk and honey.

However, Nigeria needs us;

She needs us just like we need her.

Let's unite and stay strong;

Let's shun immoralities and embrace love;

Nigeria will be great one day!!!
