Hello everyone, thanks to everyone for their contribution on this thread, it has been helpful alot.

Presently I got a rejection from swiburne tech uni for reasons I do not understand.

My agent applied to other schools like RMIT and DEAKIN and i am still waiting for their response.

Pls what could have been the reason for the rejection?

I have bs.c in Biological Science and tried applying for Ms.c Biotechnology.

Hi everyone, I read up the messages from the 1st Jan. of 2020...and please I will say I got clarification of somethings I didn't know before(or never paid attention to) but I have a few questions but here's my profile:

Currently admitted and enrolled at UNSW Sydney... (started lectures online already, didn't defer so I don't miss my scholarship)

I have gotten my COE, agent the school gave me is BCIE (GTE, COE, Sponsorship letter ready) but the agent hasn't started my visa application (her excuse is the submit button is not clicking as she's working on another application and it's not submitting)

My questions:

- My sister's husband is standing as my sponsor (he's based in the US)... he already gave me his W2 form)..but my agent hasn't gotten back to me if the form will fly (her response, they don't know much about US documents)

- Has anyone been able to recently apply for visa?

- Aim for study is to actually JP...I don't know anything about Aussie PR as I assumed first stage is to get there first via study...please can anyone but me through the process?

- Also, is there anything I'm missing out.?? I need guidance ..is there a WhatsApp group for Aussie visa enquiries... I'm new to nairaland (not sure I'm posting this the right way sef)

I just sent you an email please reply me, I need know how you applied and got the scholarship

No worries. Information I got from nairaland helped me a great deal, so you are in the right section.

I used BCIE then also, my elder brother in the UK was my sponsor. So I dont know much about the US.

As of today, the government seem to have tremendous progress with containing COVID and dont want to risk returning to the pandemic by allowing international students even though the schools need the money bad. As you may know, some schools are already cutting admission to some courses.

Regarding PR, all the information you need is on thier website. If you study a course on the SOL list, it increases your chances of getting PR after school.

Wait for the elders like @ Aussiejoan to advice better. Until then keep your head up.

Okay..so I don't know where you sent the mail to...But yeah scholarship was from the school and it's on their site. They have one open for Term 1. but I guess that's too close, so you could work towards that for Term 3(September 2021).

Randomly came across this page and it has been very informative.

I obtained my PhD few years ago and lecture in Nigeria.

I'm currently in search of a postdoc in Australia preferably around Tasmania or South Australia.

Any advice or links on available positions in Universities or Research Institutes will be much appreciated..

To be honest, this is a very hard one as most schools if not all prefer to employ their PhD students to fill this role. You may stand a chance if your PhD is from USA or Uk but naija PhD, i doubt it.
PS: I know of two Nigerians in this role, one in Queensland University of Technology and the other in Deakin University and they are both former PhD students of these schools.

No strong home ties, is your husband working and did you include it in your SOP?
Did you make arrangements to fulfill the condition in your offer before applying for grant?
The good thing is that you can try again but go for AL1 Uni and a more convincing home ties.

Bligs,

Please I am 36 and never been married and I am applying to an AL2 in Western Australia. I am applying for Master of Engineering in Edith Cowan University. What can I provide to prove strong family ties. Please help

I graduated from Civil Engineering in 2011 and have been working in Construction and Engineering companies since then. I was told that been single at that age could be a problem during visa application. What do you guys think and What can I provide to prove strong family ties. Please help.

Explain in details your educational gap and why you are going for Masters now, if you are employ that's a bonus, just get a letter from your employer stating that you are taking a leave to further your education and coming back to fill a higher position in the organisation. Your SOP should centre on going to Australia for the purpose of study alone and emphasis on going back to naija after studies.

Good, then he can get married before this year runs out.

A low key court marriage will do.
