The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has expressed concern on the continued molestation of residents of Obigbo in Rivers State.

Ohanaeze warned soldiers still molesting armless people of Obigbo in Rivers State to stop forthwith, calling on the Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike to call the soldiers to order.

The Igbo socio-cultural group, in a release by its Spokesman, Chuks Ibegbu and forwarded to DAILY POST on Wednesday, further warned the army that Obigbo is not an occupied territory or conquered people.

Ohanaeze noted that several weeks after the invasion of the area, soldiers of the Nigeria army are still in the area molesting and dehumanising residents.

It cautioned people making inciting comments on the matter to hold their peace even as he insisted that any soldier responsible for the death of innocent persons in Obigbo should be fished out and punished.

The Igbo group stressed that the lives of all Nigerians including soldiers and policemen matter and nobody has the right to deprive anybody his life save on any such sentence by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, however, called for the trial of all SARS men involved in extrajudicial killings.

I would have said that Ndigbo should call their youth to order, but the youth wouldn't even listen to Ndigbo, they would still do what they want to do when they feel it's an opportunity to create crisis.

So they just regained their senses? The Ohanaeze has no place in the commoner's heart. They are sellouts.

Modified : They are not even showing conviction in their words. Like they are scared of calling Obigbo residents Igbo people.

As an Igbo man, I’ll rather listen to the wisdom of Nnamdi Kanu than those old people with a red crown of foolishness and greed on their heads.

Na now day break angry

They're finally speaking up after weeks of silence.

That should be the new world record for longest preparation for a letter/speech.

So much for being the most prominent Igbo interest group.

In unity, Obigbo residents can fight off their common enemies but it's a pity there is no common goal that drives them to unite.

Ohaneze needs to be ended and a new real Igbo organization started from the ground up. It will happen soon. The young igbos of this generation will destroy them and create a new one that really represents us and our desires.
