Yesterday, I put up a post asking people if they'd choose a ₦700k/pm job over a fully sponsored opportunity to relocate to Canada and the answers were quite interesting.

I noticed that most of the people who chose the first option think ₦700k per month is a lot of money and I kinda agree with them considering that a lot of Nigerians live below the poverty line and everyone must not relocate.

Truth is, before 20-10-20, I probably would have chosen the job over relocating, but a lot changed for me on that day. Right now, I'm all for moving, especially to Canada.

So, if you're interested in moving and you're skeptical about it, or you're wondering if you should, here are a couple of things that I found out about Canada.

1. It's easier to migrate to Canada legally than other countries. Canada has one of the highest visa options for immigrants, reportedly about 70 options now. You can also become a citizen with 5 years of living in Canada as a permanent resident.

They recently announced that they'll be inviting over 1.2million immigrants over the next 3 years. If you're interested in moving, this is the best time to, considering that things may change. Good thing is you can find almost all you need to know about relocation online.

2. Canada is safe. According to the Global Peace Index, it is the 6th safest out of 163 nations, a title it held also over the past two years. Canada gets good marks when it comes to factors related to internal conflicts, levels of crime and political stability. In addition to good job opportunities, great access to healthcare, and effective government, Canada reportedly has some of the most notoriously friendly people in the world.

3. You have more chances of getting great jobs in Canada because their rate of unemployment is very low, although COVID-19 changed that a bit. For some of their immigration pathways, you don't even need to have a job to migrate. Also, there's dignity of labour there. A dishwasher earns quite well and is not treated as a 'ordinary' dishwasher.

4. As a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, public schools are free for your children from the age of 5 to about 19, and with over 15,000 elementary schools in Canada, there's a lot to choose from.

5. Permanent residents and citizens are also entitled to free public healthcare worth over $6k once you get your health insurance card. All provinces and territories in Canada provide free emergency services even if you don’t have a health card. Their emergency system is quite efficient too.

6. Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees your freedom to practice or hold whatever view you want; personal, religious or political.

7. Canada being one of the G7 economies has one of the strongest economies in the world. They also have low inflation rates.

8. Subject to fulfilling certain conditions and having the employment insurance, you can get between 12 to 18 months maternity/parental leave and earn 55% or 33% of your annual income. That means, if you are earning $100k annually and you choose the 12 months maternity/parental leave, you'll be entitled to $55k for that year.

9. Canada has better work-life balance. The standard number of weekly work hours is 40 hours per week.

10. The Canadian passport is one of the most respected and accepted in the world. With the Canuck passport, Canadian citizens can visit 104 countries without a visa, have access to get 36 e-visas or 22 visas on arrival.

You can visit http://thehustlepower.com/optin/ for more information

A bonus reason is that you'll have a better background for your pictures.

I hope the above reasons are helpful and encourage you if you want and can afford to relocate. Subsequently, I'll be sharing why remaining in Nigeria is not a bad choice either.

Kekereekun123 I want to ask you a question
People paint this Canada of a country so I want to get something's straight and correct from you about the country . endut1 too is not left out.
As at ending of last months i read a thread here whereby a man living in Canada with his family shared his monthly savings with us. To me the figures I saw was pretty good and ok if one is not greedy .
And he said something strange again about his savings he said he saved 15000 CAD in 3/4 months I think, I was amazed like is Canada the new blood money country. So In my mind I was like we die here.
So leaving the thread my mind was telling me that this man might be giving us lamba cause that money he said he saved is over 4 million naira our currency here in just 4 months and he told us that he is a Jewish security .
So my question is ,is this true ? If yes how possible is this? There are heavy bills there to pay how come you save up that much and you're not even doing a professional work.

Just curious, do people pay bills in naija as well ?

nice write up man !!! I don't really think there is anyone currently in Nigeria that will advice anybody not to leave this hell call country

ever since this protest a lot of way to move out have been on my mind but my biggest challenge now is money.

to be sincere as for me I have started rallying around to see how I can gather some money within some space from now.

I know most people will always say that people are only traveling out to get stranded but it is better to be in a place where opportunities can easily come.

More bills, without even getting anything in return.

I keep wondering how some can't think without any form of sentiments cum stupidity.

Isn't even more good paying taxes and any form of bills that's been put in a good use, good roads, infrastructural amenities and other basic needs of life.

Here in Nigeria, I pay tax without seeing or benefiting from it.

Even if I make 1billion today here in Nigeria, I'm leaving.

What a wicked leaders and confused followers.

Weldone maternal, someone like you are the few ones encourage us.

We do. But there is a difference , and the difference is:

Canada; you enjoy what you pay for as public services are usually of high quality, e.g stable power, topnotch health care, decent infrastructure and so on.

Nigeria; you hardly get the value of what you paid for as almost everything is substandard and mediocre angry

Though no place is perfect and both countries have their pros and cons, I won't hesitate choosing Canada over Nigeria anyday, anytime.

You are like me(I ask truckloads if questions before making any move, to avoid stories cheesy). But all in all, I think Canada is a fantastic country, and if you are stuck in Nigeria looking for a country that worth a bargain, look no more. My only issue with Canada is the harsh winters angry

Good day ma'am,

Trust you and you're child are good over there. I do follow your dairy bumpa to bumps. Still waiting for your updates though.

Please what's the easier route for someone who has little no resources to come over there legally.

I've been so so used to the harsh weather over here that even if you put me in a deep freezer for over 6hrs, I'd still be sweating.[no jokes]. So I really need the cold over there.
Honestly speaking, I regret every minute of my stay in this country. God in heaven knows I won't think twice if given the opportunity, even if you put a gun to my skull I'll still go.

Please tell me what I can do to get out of this hell ASAP. [I'm typing this with a very bitter mind with sweats all over me and mosquitoes biting me under this cave of a house, No thanks to the polithievcians]

Kindly awaiting your response ma.

Great point except number 3!
Moving to Canada doesn't guarantee you a great job but likely sustainable job.

Yes you don't need a job to migrate but good and sufficient statement of account,it is almost impossible to get work permit from nigeria hence most apply through express entry(skilled migrant) nd school visa.

No dish washer is respected or disrespectd as long as you doing your job and there is nothing like "treated like common dishwasher",where you work determines how you will be treated it has nothing to do with country!!

Hi. Thanks for following my diary. The only easiest route I can think of is applying for scholarships so you can immigrate via the study route. Of course, this is also dependent on your CGPA. However, if you are not eligible to apply for scholarships, then you will need to get a sponsor.

Another route is learning French and going through the provincial route. But then, you will still need money/resources in order to be able to relocate via this route.

To be sincere, I don't think there is any easy route. Relocating to a developed country is expensive but if one can be able to overcome that stage of applying and getting an approval, then surviving here will not be so difficult (as long as one didn't come in an illegal way).

In the meantime, you can download Duolingo and start using it to learn French. Learning a new language can never be a waste and Canada is really looking for those who are bilingual. So, you can start learning French till you are able to get funds/sponsors.

Regards.

Thanks a lot for your response. So if I should start learning French like you said, How is it going to make my relocation easier? Is it going to help in reduction of visa funds or am I likely to get sponsorship by the caring Canadian government quickly? I'm just curious..

I'm sorry for asking a lot of questions Ma

most people migrating to Canada had good jobs here and they know the situation over there. It will not be easy for everyone to get a job immediately but with time and getting additional education it will come. A better life for them and kids is the most important thing. Also after getting Canadian passport in 3 years some will come back to Nigeria.
