On increase in pump price, if the FG has been sincere in other sectors of the economy, people won’t be getting angry over it. Once subsidy is removed we all know that price will rise and that’s the reason Labour won’t have a case in going to strike.

The person that wrote this article understands this, but he must right to be on tabloid, he must right towards where he felt the masses stay

There's nothing, absolutely nothing this regime has gotten right. Make us self sufficient then deregulate is rocket science to them, same stunt they pulled when the closed border cause of rice.
They really need an economic master strategist.

This is the only reason why I love Oshiomhole. He was ready to drag it down with Obasanjo over the fuel increase then. He was the voice of the people. However, Labour today is simply a mere joke. None of them willing to have that fight for the people.

That’s because we practiced democracy then, now it’s illegal to protest or demand good governance

We need to analyze this properly before we say anyone has failed. The scenario is Jonathan’s time are quite different in Buhari’s time. Let’s do a logical comparison.

The problem is the situation of our oil sales and single main source of revenue doesn’t put us In a good position no matter how high or low oil goes.

Hmmm, welcome to the next level Governance with zero good initiative.

What will it take the Government to build a modern Refineries in this country, and ask all the muilt-natinatioal oil companies to build at least two or one working good refinery or leave the country? But instead they decided to borrow and build a railway lines that will link Nigeria to another Country that would give the country zero revenue, our leaders needs good orientation to get the services of futuristic and capable hands to run the affairs of Government and not the other way around.

A country or a person that borrow to consume or share among themselves and not to invest in viable or good business or businesses are bond to suffer and mortgage the future of it's offspring, children and citizens

Vanguard newspapers should know better than coming up with an editorial like this.

The reality of fuel price in Nigeria is that it will rise and fall.

When it raises there's always so much needless noise like the one Vanguard newspaper is making.

And when the prices fall no one says anything.

Its time we adjust to the new reality and focus our energies on better issues.

Well, it isnt just a matter of bulding and fixing refinereis, but also making it profitable to refine petrol in Nigeria.

And the only way we can do that is by complete and total deregulation of the downstream sector. We must let petrol be sold at the market price, not at NNPC , Buhari 40 naira , Labour 120 naira or GEJ 86 naira.

Subsidy is an evil monster that eats the money we could have used for education, infrastructure , and so on....and gives us no return, and enriches a few big men.

We must deregulate. We should have deregulated in 1993, 2006 and 2012 . We did not listen.

My problem is with the populace who voted Buhari, most of them witnessed how he singlehanded drove us to recession in the early 80s.

I don’t know if he’s wicked or just dumb, he closed land border back then which impacted us the wrong way, came back after 30 years to do the same.

Signed decree 4 which is basically what they are trying to achieve with the social media bill.

Nigeria will never move forward as long as we choose our leaders based on religious and ethnic sentiment

I can't understand why it is
only price of petrol that is going up.

In my area, kerosene & diesel have
remained static, even in the face of
all the price hikes..

Hmmm

PMB is befret of any iota of administrative skill and logical reasoning.

He is also poorly educated in management strategies & as such, simply agrees to any rubbish proposition put before him because he cannot provide alternatives & debate issues with facts.

It is true deregulation is the way forward, but how can you say you have deregulated a business where NNPC are the sole importers of the product that has been deregulated?

How can you say you have deregulated & still have a minimum price band?

How can you say you have deregulated & yet the price of fuel in Lagos is almost the same in Sokoto or Maiduguri?

What the FG needs to do is remove/reduce associated costs & charges on a litre of fuel. Associated costs contribute about 30% to 50% of the price fuel in Nigeria.

Renegotiate the landing costs of pms. It is presently too high...

Remove bridging costs, it only serves to subsidize fuel to far areas up north...

Reduce NPA & NIMASA charges. They carry out duties that can be harmonised/subsumed under one or the other & yet have separate charges...

Reduce the thru-put jetty charges...

Remove or reduce financing charges (Can the FG tell us exactly what it constitutes?)...

Reduce storage charges...

Extend the duration a PMS tanker can remain in port without being surchaged before it discharges it's product...

Do something about the exchange rate because that is the main determinant of fuel pricing in nigeria...

If the FG can get it's act right, pms can be #100 in Lagos, #125 in Benin, #150 in Abuja & #180 in Sokoto... That is what deregulation is truly all about... You pay what it costs to get the product to you...

Even Vanguard is also failing Nigerians.

Vanguard online is a disaster - opened page not easy to read as it dances about and lots of adverts ready to kick off as one scrolls down. The Disqus comment section is no more.

Nigeria is troubled all over the place.
