Arewa Group Faults Detention of Sen. Ali Ndume over Ex Pension Boss ,Maina

Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has described as unfair the detention of Senator Ali Ndume over former Pension Boss, Abdulrrashid Maina.

According to the group , it is unfair to detain Senator Ali Ndume and leave Senator Abaribe, who as surety for Nnamdi Kanu over terrorism case .

AYCF in a statement signed by the National President ,Alhaji Yerima Shettima , "We as a youth group from the North, find the arrest and remand in prison of Senator Ali Ndume because fugitive Abdurrashid Maina had jumped bail, as unfair. Much as we are not denying whether Abdurrashid Maina committed offence or not, we believe it amounts to setting bad example if Senator Abaribe - who stood surety for terrorist Nnamdi Kanu is still walking the streets as a free man."

The statement further reads, " We cannot fathom why Senator Abaribe, who secured bail for IPOB's Kanu whose action has since been declared treasonable and terror to the country (and still on the run) has never ever been sanctioned for standing surety.

"In the interest of equity, fairness and balance, Senator Abaribe should be immediately arrested and remanded in prison too, until IPOB's Kanu is turned it or he turns himself in.

" Both Ndume and Abaribe are Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and therefore Abaribe cannot be said to be higher in status than Ndume. Both are lawmakers by the grace of our national constitution and the votes of their constituents.

" Most importantly, we have a duty as a country to demonstrate that in this country, no one citizen is above the other. Significantly, Ndume's case is such that Maina is still a "suspect" being tried by the law and no sentence has yet been handed down by any court of competent jurisdiction. Still,this cannot be said of Nnamdi Kanu and his treason case.

"We are therefore very disturbed that this is happening to Ndume at a moment democratic power is mainly in the hands of people from Ndume's immediate constituency. It is this kind of development that gives room for people to accuse the Federal Government of selective application of justice.

" We therefore call on President Buhari to intervene and put an end to this embarrassing selectivity against one the North's exceptionally-vocal, fearless and pro-masses member of the National Assembly."

When it comes to law, I don't think superficial comparison is taken into account. The technicalities are far more important. If Abaribe is supposed to be remanded, the court would not have hesitated one second. We cannot tell the court what to do based on tribal sentiments.

The ever dishonest Nigeria Army invaded Nnamdi Kanu's compound guns blazing. That alone unties Sen Abaribe of any liability and culpability.

Still saying the same thing. The peculiarities of Abaribe's case affords him the chance to pay 300 million and walk free. We don't know the peculiarities of Alli Ndume's case. As we proceed, more shall be revealed but for now, a matter in court is not open for discussion except in that law court. If the elders really have something to say, they know what to do for effective communication. Coming to the press won't change much.

The Arewa group have raised a valid argument. For peace and justice to reign, I believe it is only fair for Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to be arrested and remanded in prison too because we cannot condone a lawless act of freeing Senator Ali Ndume for his grievous negligence just because Abaribe is unjustly walking free.

This serves Senator Ndume right and this will teach some politicians and everybody lesson if they will learn, if you stand for bail in police station or court room for a suspect and you can't produce the suspect when he/she is needed in the court, the person should go in and replace the suspect in the police Cell or Prison until he produce the suspect.

Senator Abaribe should not rejoice over Senator Ndume because he will join him in the prison soon, I don't know why Senator Abaribe is still walking freely, they should arrest and put him in the prison until he produce Nnamdi Kanu.

How can someone stole over #2 Billion and he was granted bail by a serving Senator with just #500m bond and he knows if you cannot produce the suspect your 500m bond is gone, the suspect and surety will agree to jump bail. Why didn't they ask the surety to sign #2 Billion bond to bail the suspect. Now if Maina never show up, Senator Ndume will forfeit #500m Bond and start walking freely like Senator Abaribe, this is why it will be hard to recover all looted funds in Nigeria because every looter / suspect will prefer his surety to forfeit the bond after some years if there is a new Government that is close to the suspect he will be given State pardon and the Nigerian Government will forget about the money and the people involved will be walking freely after looting our Treasury.

Lol what a bunch of idiots dont stand surety for low lives. You cant cry after making the deal. Put up the money or assets. Judicial discretion allows the judge in kanus case to prolong arresting Abaribe arrest. Besides their reasons for why they cant produce aren't the same so you're comparing apples and oranges.
