Burna Boy and Wizkid keep flying the flag as they appear to have achieved yet another milestone. Burna is getting a second consecutive nomination with the Grammys as Wizkid also gets a nomination for the much converted award.

Burna Boy was last year nominated for the category of Best World Music album for his ‘African Giant’ project but lost it to Beninois legend, Angelique Kidjo.

This year, his album ‘Twice as tall‘ which was executive produced by music business mogul Sean Diddy Combs has been nominated for the Best Global Music Album category.

Wizkid on the other hand has been nominated alongside pop icon, Beyonce, for the ‘Brown Skin Girl’ video they did together.

Fans of both artistes clearly are unable to contain their joy on this announcement as the have taken to social media and setting TL’s ablaze with hopes of the artistes bringing the awards home.

I find amusing that the Gs have only 1 award for global or World music when Latino music has 3-4 awards..
It depicts a very narrow minded approach.

It brings to light, Naomi C's comments about recognising new genres such as Afropop, Afrobeat which have a distinct etymology, lyrical composition and beats as compared to reggae.

Likewise other genres such as music from the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Far East Asia..
