Northern elders have once again called on president Muhammadu Buhari, to sack all his Service Chiefs as insecurity situation in the country continues to deteriorate, while calling for the appointment of young innovative officers, Insidenaija reports.

The elders applauded the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the second, for summoning the courage to speak on the worsening situation, adding that insecurity was largely responsible for the food crisis in the country.

According to the PUNCH Metro, the monarch had, during the fourth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council in Abuja with the theme ‘Questioning for peace in the challenges of insecurity and COVID-19,’ decried the precarious security situation in the North, saying the region was now the worst place to live.

Zana Goni who is the National Coordinator, the Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development, In a statement on Saturday, November 28, said the Sultan vindicated their consistent alarm on the state of insecurity in the region.

He said: “We most respectfully commend the Sultan of Sokoto, our father, for stating the true position of things in the North, as it concerns insecurity. We have said the state of insecurity has reached a point where our farmers can hardly access their farms, even as travellers on busy highways can no longer guarantee their safe arrival without being kidnapped.

If a man sees nothing wrong with the efficiency of those that man the security architecture of this country, he is not supposed to be the commander in chief.

They are asking for the impossible.

These set of security chieves are the best among their peers and I don't think their juniors are academically equipped and professionally qualified to take over.

President Buhari has weighed his option, conducted several checks and he concluded that there's a disconnect between the pool if resourcefulness of these set of security chieves and their juniors ones, hence the reason for keeping them this long.

Presido is retaining them for the collective interest of all Nigerians.
