Hello,if I may ask? Is this before or after tax?Their tax is around 30% . Life generally in Nairobi is not cheap,
Even if it is after tax,the offer is too small.
Relocation allowance will be paid instalmentally, how will you be able to pay rent and furnish your house?
Nigerian food is very expensive in Nairobi except you will adapt to eating Ugali and co.
They are not even offering to pay your annual ticket incase you want to travel home.
To me,60ksh is too little to leave Nigeria for.
I wish you all the best .

Hi!

Thank for you suggestions.

I have already send them all the information they required before seeing your reply.

I don't know wether it's before or after task.

Do you mean I have to give them like 30% of whatever I am earning?

I was told that life is not cheap there. But, it all depend on your way of living. I am not from a wealthy family, so, I think i can manage it like that.

As for the food, I am not that heavy selector, I manage what is front of me.

For the annual ticket, it's just a one year non-renewable job.

Thank you one again.

The highest salary I ever received was 30k Npower stipend.

I have to ask, my brother. Because, I never leave my home apart from university studies and NYSC stuff.

And who knows if you will be among the first set of Nairalanders to blame me for not asking, if I came here regretting not seeking enough information before I accept the offer. wink wink wink

By the way, thank you for the reply

If you are interested in a job that gives you the freedom of exploring the beauty of Africa while getting some job experience out of Nigeria, then why not? To earn that kind of figure in Nigeria, you would work your ass out like no tomorrow and your employers would be expecting you to worship them.

If you confirm this is the net pay after tax pks go ahead, it is a great boost for your career especially as an international placement.

Yes that amount can cover yoyr feeding expenses, meat is extremely cheap in Kenya, they love meat, pls note they dont have our type of rice, furthermore they don't eat pepper.

To help u settle in more pls get enough food stuff like garri, dry fish, rice, beans, these things are not common there amd will be expensive

Even in the capital in Nairobi, their commercial hub is just like marina lagos island, u will see people roasting corn , selling okrika clothes, shoes , evev groundnut and fruits on the road, these are affordable too and better than wat u get in some their malls

December gets very cold into january so get sweaters to keep warm.

Watch out for the road, they use right hand driving so eveything is on the opposite wen crossing the roads.

Nothing to different, they also have potholes and the airport experince checking out of Kenya is worse than MMIA ..beat that!

But pls take the job and while u are there learn, unlearn and relearn...

If u re a man beware of their women, they are beautiful and well crafted, abeg face ya work else u will be led astray

You will live like a boss if you know your way around. cheesy

-Where in Nairobi is their office located, so I can give you the neighbourhoods you can look into living in which you can use that first month of free housing to look for.

-Electricity is 24hrs, so you will only be spending on buying tokens for your prepaid meter

-Feeding is cheap, if you know your way around it.

-Come with beans, garri, egusi, ogbono, spices etc but don't come with tubers(s) of yam or palm oil, it will be seized on arrival in Nairobi.

Food very available in Nairobi that you don't need to come with:
- Wheat flour
-Semolina
-Ewedu
-Okro
-Fresh pepper (you can still come with the powdered variety you prefer)
-Rice
-You will buy palm oil from Nigerians who sell it in Nairobi
-Milk, bread, butter, meat, chicken
-Potatoes (Irish and sweet)
-Smoked catfish, tilapia etc
- Kenyans have more variety of beans than us though they have "white beans" (Kunde white) but it is tinier and very hard! When soaked overnight, one can use it to make moin-moin or akara.
-Uji (flour of various kinds) which Kenyans drink as liquids with cups, Nigerians in Kenya prepare it to be thick......and you have your pap ready!

In conclusion, Nairobi is "softer to live in" than Lagos or Abuja.
