Five Important Things That Christians Don't Pray For by Gentle0wavez: 11:08am On Jan 30, 2021
I have been to a few prayer crusades/ meetings and I have watched a lot and I must say it's not encouraging at all. Most of the things we pray for like death of enemies( number one prayer point in most crusades ) and wealth to "pepper dem" and to show our neighbor that we can make it are not only useless but also unscriptural. Sometimes I wonder if most of these pastors don't know the right thing of the Bible. I realized that most of them do but because of their desire to attract a large crowd, they water down the scripture to make it mass appealing.

These are five prayer point that we Christians should say regularly at prayer crusades/ meetings and even our personal lives.

1. SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT. This is very important. Here is a Bible text about it
Ephesians 1:17-18 KJV
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: [18] The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. It's important that we pray to God to open our spiritual eye so that we would know how to use the word of God to bear fruit in our life.

2. GRACE TO RESIST TEMPTATION AND TO WALK ABOVE SIN. This may sound odd but it's scriptural. Here are a few text from the bible.Jude 1:24 KJV
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Psalm 119:37 KJV
Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
Even the whole of psalm 119 says a lot about it. Jesus didn't live a sinless life by his power, he prayed for the grace.

3. PRAY THAT GOD WOULD SHOW YOU YOUR FAULT AND WEAKNESS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW YOU HAVE BUT WILL AFFECT YOU. How can you pray to God to help you in an area of weakness if you don't know it. The devil uses our weakness against us, the day I prayed this prayer God revealed that tribalism is my weakness. Once I see an IMO state person for example I have concluded that he/she is immoral. That is how I had bad stereotypes for every state. But the bible say "Judge no man after the flesh and if any one is in Christ, he is a new creature" that's how I changed. Read this bible text
Psalm 139:23-24 KJV
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: [24] And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

4. PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMIES. I know people will not like to hear this one but take this food for thought. Despite all the hatred and despise that the Israelite showed Moses and Samuel, they never cursed back but instead they both continued to pray for them. And you know what God told Jeremiah about them. See the text Jeremiah 15:1 KJV
Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
Praying for your enemies is a very powerful thing to do.

5. PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS/POLITICIANS. Calm down, I know it's hard but it's a duty to pray for them. No matter how bad they are they are not completely useless and we still need them. What do we gain by not praying and only cursing them.

1. Jesus Christ said that you should use the understanding you have and when you do, more will be given to you- He didn't say you had to ask first. Jesus Christ also said that those who do not use what they have will have even that which they have taken away from them. undecided

It is ok to ask God for wisdom, but it is even better to begin using the wisdom one has already been given since obedience is the key to pleasing God. undecided

2. Does a child require special grace to obey his or her parents? undecided

Does even an adult need special grace in order to obey orders given by his boss or employer? undecided

Does a driver need special grace in order to obey traffic signs , watching out for pedestrians and obstructions on the road? undecided

Why then does grace have to do with resisting of temptation? undecided

What is sin if nothing but a choice to disobey God's commandments, and temptation simply the desire to put one's ego ahead of God's Will and command. undecided

Sin is a choice and like any other choice, it can be overcome throgh the making of a better choice.. a choice to obey God and putting dying to one's ego. If one is unwilling to master one's ego - bring it under submission and control of God's Law -, what can grace(eternal life) do to help with that? undecided

So you have been praying these 5 points for a period now... care to honestly fill us all in on how that has been 2working out for you? undecided

Points 1 and 2 are of particular interest as I would be interested to know how much more spiritually enlightened you have become since then and also how and if you have been able to break free of slavery to sin. undecided

1) Where God is concerned, the one and only fault we have is sin, that desire to go against God, setting our egos before and ahead of Him in our lives. That is it. There really isn't a need to pray for discovery of this since all one needs to do to overcome sin is to choose to honor God .I.e. submit to and obey the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ in all things. undecided

Jesus Christ, in john 8, makes it all too clear that the only way to overcome slavery to sin, to freeing oneself from that bondage, is to accept and obey His commandments for in so doing, one Knows the Truth and the is set free by the truth. There is no other way. undecided

2. As for praying for political leaders and the lot, my question is why? You never finish the work wey God send you finish, na to carry another wahala put for head you dey consider add. Abeg, first free yourself from slavery to sin, and find God's righteousness, if then you have free time, you can use it even more productively in doing good works, something your politicians can barely record ever doing even after a lifetime in politics . undecided

The bible commands that you pray for those in authority. I'm still convinced that God needs to show you areas in your life that you need to straighten up but if you don't agree, no problem

I don't know who COMMANDS you that, but Jesus Christ is the only one who COMMANDS all of those who belong to Him and, He, Jesus Christ, never said to pray for those in authority- He never prayed for the political leaders of His time either. undecided

It's Apostle Paul's command.

I only take my matching orders from Jesus Christ. undecided
And as far as His teachings go, Jesus Christ, who made it very clear to us that His Kingdom is not of this world, never commanded His followers to pray for this world or its politicians. undecided

Jesus Christ did not even pray concerning the subjugation of His people, the Israelites, who were under Roman occupation during His time. undecided

God first gave the order to the Israelites to pray for the prosperity of the land that he gave them. Apostle Paul teachings cannot contradict the mind of Christ. We pray for peace in the nation for bcuz it makes preaching the gospel easier.

Where is this "order" that you claim God gave to the Israelites so we can carefully examine the contents and mine it for truth. undecided

P.S. we are not called according to the Old Covenant Law of Moses which is an agreement between God and those who have the blood of Jacob coursing throgh their veins. God intentionally left the gentiles out of that agreement. So when you state that Paul commands you to do as God commands those of the Old Covenant, what you do is attempt to shove yourself into that agreement, against God .i.e. You accuse Paul of commanding you to sin. undecided
