He does not understand logic.

My governor has no control over major things that cause development. Those things are controlled by FG. I can't blame my governor yet since he does not control those things.

I used to tell people that in Nigeria, our governors and local govt councilors are ceremonial in nature. They are just enjoying life becus they dont have real executive power. That is why most of them try so hard not to displease the central govt.
Even their own security details can be changed overnight. We run a useless system of govt.

Are you trying to say the Governors can't develop or attract investments/investors to their respective states they govern?

Are you saying they can't build standard roads?
Are you saying they can't build low-budget houses for workers?
Are you saying they can't pay workers salaries and pensions on time?
Are you saying they can't put and end to lootings in their domain?
Are you saying they can't create jobs in their states?
Are you saying they can't invest massively in agriculture so there would be enough and cheap produce?

Do they need executive power to carry out the things I mentioned and many others?

They keep making you guys think Abuja is the problem. Believe me, if the Governors are responsible and provide good governance, things would be a lot better.

Yea, they cant becus we run a useless unitary system. U dont understand. Take away oil money and allow states to hustle. That is when they can hustle. Our system is useless..

And why cant FG build all those things you listed? FG has useless universities, FG cant build standard roads, FG cant attractive enough foreign investments. FG is richer than all the states put together, so why cant FG get it done? Everything that FG is handling is a chaos. States even build FG roads.

If u guys wants more competitive and viable states, grant states more powers and resource controls to manage their affairs. It is as simple as ABC

Nigeria's covid 19 case is not the worst in Africa... Citing covid as the reason for this is questionable.

True! However, this is a case of Nigerians breaching protocols put in place to protect people. Like getting a fake COVID-19 test result!
Na we dey do ourselves

I love this news. Many Nigerians do not know the level the inefficient leadership of Buhari has reduced them to. Most of them who don't travel and are collecting monthly stipend to oppose truth on Nairaland think they are enjoying. Ignorance is not excuse.

Bad leadership results in bad economy.
Bad economy results in increased crime rate.
Increased crime rate results in many countries keeping strict eyes on you.
Country s keeping strict eyes on u results in u remaining in ur forsaken country.
Increased crime rate results in living as a slave in your father land.
Living as a slave in your father land results in dissatisfaction about life hence, snipper!

You must support the splitting of this failed Nigeria if you love your children to come.

Thank you bros, they are much in this forum

I do believe it exists but that the number is very small. You know that we live in a communal setting that we cannot avoid another, and the way media portrays the virus since last year January, I can tell Nigeria would have been a hotspot.

State governments are more culpable than the FG in this case. State governors will fight with FG over the control of thier states and these are the states' they expected FG to develop for them. It is mostly the state governors and not the FG that are actually irresponsible shocked

Nigerians should start taking this pandemic seriously.

Air peace should be able to do rapid testing, the only problem Joel Osteen Prayer Request would be increased travel fees for the passengers. But i guess its kinda like a blessing for Air peace, giving that most international airlines will not want to fly Nigerians, leaving them with no option but to fly air peace.

How he was allowed to get on that plane without getting his test results is baffling.

Yea.. It is either we run US model of true federalism or we run the UK 4 nations model. We can run 6 nations as regions in our case or use true federalism like the USA which grants more independence to states.

Actually, that of the USA works becus the states are even nations on their own. So regions will work more for us as we aren't as large as USA with many nations into one country.

Until this is done I will have no confidence in any electoral process. Nigeria has been sliding downwards over the last 30 years but to my surprise the clamour out there is for zoning based on religious and ethnic background. Nobody is addressing the real issues

It is unfortunate that we shy away from the real problems.

It is unfortunate that our leaders are not sincere about fixing our core issue.

Israeli sex tourists aggravate UAE's human trafficking ordeal
The main victims of human trafficking hail from India, Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh
Most migrants are compelled to sign employment contracts in a language they’re unable to read and thus agreeing to conditions and wages far lower than they had been promised
Traffickers employ many tactics to force women to work, often locking the victims in small rooms without food or water and subjecting them to physical and verbal abuse

Dubai sex trafficking victims relate tales of duplicity and horror
Victims were forced into prostitution after going to Dubai with dreams of luxurious life and high salary

The victims claimed that the trafficking ring had connections with the passport office and airport immigration.

That is why we see human traffickers sending people to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Bahrain.

These victims came from lower or lower middle class families and couldn’t have shown a bank statement to get visas for Dubai.

Visiting Dubai Is Like Standing on the Sidelines of a Gang Rape
Dubai is one of the toughest, most well-known centers of modern slavery and human trafficking. Beneath the glittering facade of a paradise in the desert lurks a cruel and lethal system of recruitment, transportation, transfer, kidnaping and defrauding of human beings – mostly women – by means of the threat of force, or the actual use of force, as well as other types of coercion. The purpose of the system is exploitation for the purpose of prostitution, other types of sexual exploitation, forced labor or employment in conditions of slavery.

In the United Arab Emirates there are over 8 million work migrants, constituting over 95 percent of the country’s private work force. They work for a very low wage in construction, or as servants. Most of these workers are victims of human trafficking or forced labor.

Outwardly, the governments of the UAE cluck their tongues and occasionally expel a p1mp who is caught, but in fact traffickers in women work under protection of the government, which sells itself as a consumers’ paradise, where human beings are also a consumer good.

Dubai’s Role in Facilitating Corruption and Global Illicit Financial Flows
part of what underpins Dubai’s prosperity is a steady stream of illicit proceeds borne from corruption and crime. The wealth has helped to fuel the emirate’s booming real estate market; enrich its bankers, moneychangers, and business elites; and turn Dubai into a major gold trading hub. Meanwhile, both Emirati leaders and the international community continue to turn a blind eye to the problematic behaviors, administrative loopholes, and weak enforcement practices that make Dubai a globally attractive destination for dirty money.

The UAE’s Kafala System: Harmless or Human Trafficking?
Labor migration to the UAE is regulated by a private sponsorship system known as kafala, which has existed in the Gulf Cooperation Council states and other Middle Eastern countries for decades. The laws and procedures of the kafala system vary from state to state.

Migrant workers who are trafficked into forced labor are typically recruited by agents who charge high recruitment fees in exchange for secure work permits and employment in the UAE.
Migrant workers who are trafficked into forced labor are typically recruited by agents who charge high recruitment fees in exchange for secure work permits and employment in the UAE. However, once in the UAE, victims are made to sign contracts they often do not understand and that include conditions different from what they were promised. They are then forced to work long hours in cramped labor camps. Wages are low, payments are made infrequently, and living and sanitary conditions are poor. The workers inevitably fall into situations of debt bondage and find themselves compelled to accept the terms and conditions imposed on them. This is particularly common among construction, domestic, and lower-level service workers.8

30 US congressmen call for urgent action on UAE and Middle East Human Trafficking

London, UK, Dec. 14, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Washington, London - On Human Rights Day, thirty members of the U.S. House of Representatives signed a “dear colleague” letter to the U.S. government calling for an end to human trafficking and labor exploitation in the Gulf region of the Middle East. Representative Raúl Grijalva, who serves as Vice Chair in the International Workers’ Rights Caucus, led the effort. “I led my colleagues in a letter urging Sec. Pompeo to urge the Gulf States to uphold human rights for migrant workers and abolish the discriminatory Kafala System,” he tweeted.

Mr. man I lived in USA for five years on F1 status and later STEM OPT. I left USA after the first year of my stem OPT while working at delloite technology practice. I went to grad school at the ancient edinburgh uni then left to nigeria after two years to work in tech. Work and education took me to many countries in different continents. I'm not sure you are in a position to tell me what is good/better for me and many other Nigerians. It all depends on the perspective we see things from. Nairaland is not a platform for lowlives its a platform for all and I have learnt so much from contributors here over the years. You come here and call me an idiot and all sort of names because I don't hate Nigeria like you do. If you hate Nigeria don't pour out your frustration on others as I'm not the cause of the disappointments you've had with the country. Amidst the challenges of Nigeria I've found great opportunities within which I've explored positively with no regret . If that makes me a candidate of all the unprintable names you've called me so be it.
In addition I know the history of Nigeria right from the berlin conference of africa till date. Thank you.
