How Difficult It Is To Get A Job In Nigeria by Humbleguy92: 12:17pm On Feb 06, 2021
Please pardon my poor writing and take your time to read.

To avoid long story I will just go straight to the point.
Am a graduate of business administration and am also done with NYSC so I believe the next thing is to get a job and give back to my parents, families, friends that need help and as well start doing well for myself since the whole essence of going to school is to finish and get a good job but it's just so unfortunate that in Nigeria it's a different thing entirely.
First if you don't know anyone, you find it hard to get a job, u might even stay for years without a job and in the process decide go to into other illegal things( well I believe going into illegal things is by choice and should not be blamed on the government because Nigeria has many different ways to make money legally, all you need is the fund which most graduate don't have thus making us go in search of jobs).

That being said, let me continue with the job part and probably just say a little from my own experience job hunting and getting none till now.

After my NYSC I decided to go job hunting here in Abuja(this is were I currently reside), I went to few places and also went for interviews (mostly marketing jobs which most times won't be stated in their job description until you get there). Well I got an invite for an interview in an insurance company and I gladly went, only go get there and met a lot of people (which is normal), after all being said and done the company said after employment you will only be paid commission from each person you bring and if you don't bring anyone, you won't be paid anything even in months, I was like okay but will there be any transport alawance to go about searching and convincing people and to my surprise he said no ( like who does that, most of us graduate don't even have money to eat, yet you expect us to use our money to transport round and at the end if we don't find anybody, we still won't get anything at the end of the months. It's just so bad).

That being said, during the week, I decided to go for another job hunting since staying at home is just not good for my health and can even lead to depression. Well I submitted some CV's at different places from offices to hotels at wuse 2, after which I decided to go to maitama and drop the last once before heading home.
I must say maitama is not that friendly when it comes to job searching, when I got there,I started walking from street to street looking for offices or hotel to enter and when I was done and left with one CV, I passed by a woman in a parked car and decided to give her my CV as well after greeting her, at first she was surprised and didn't want to collect it but I insisted that God might use her to help me, she finally did and asked for my discipline and stuff, I told her I can do any job even if it's a cleaner job( you need to see her reaction after saying that like why will I say such a thing but one thing she don't know is that even getting that cleaner job she looked down on is even more hard in this country).

Well after much said and done, I will keep pushing till I get any job or financial assistance from anyone to start up a business, no matter how small because one promise I made to my parents is to never go into illegal things and I was thought to always be content with what I have which i'm still following till date.

For those that takes their time to read, if you are a job seeker you can drop your own personal experience and if you are God sent and you have any Job at all, please am willing to do it, I learn quickly and am also not lazy.
My number is 08131206307

May God bless you all

OP.... you don't have to go to wise or maitama to hunt for jobs...

Locate any security outfit and enquire from them and start there... Save much from it and rent a place of your own and save a little more and then when you have off period you can boldly enter good offices to apply through the HR....

As a graduate, you just have to start somewhere and you'll be blessed....

Try hotnigerianjobs. That stuff of going to search jobs in the office is archaic and I will advise you equip yourself with IT skills so you can also search for work abroad.

Thanks for your reply but if I may ask, what do you mean by locating any security outfit, make enquiry and start there (Can you please elaborate).

As for starting from somewhere, I don't mind doing any job, even cleaning job bcus no one knows where his or her helper is and that was why I told the woman I gave my CV that I can do any job.

All the same if you know of any current openings job here in Abuja, please let me know as I will gladly do it
Thanks

Thanks I will definitely check the website out.
And as for the IT skills, I was actually doing freelancer job on fiver till my laptop had issue, since then have been looking for 20,000 to fit it but unfortunately have not seen anyone to help me with the money thus making me continue the search for job more instead of just staying at home

Well, looking for a job is also a job and honestly, it's not easy. I've been there and was being selective because my family has a successful business. Unfortunately, GDP growth hasn't risen past 3% within the past five years meanwhile population growth has increased beyond the same figure. Worse still, the country's leaders are at best m0rons and statist. You have to search harder - online and offline via referrals. Ask your friends who currently have jobs to recommend you or link you to jobs. Join WhatsApp and Facebook groups, always try to apply early and be optimistic.

Just understand that it won't be easy because the economy is not growing as population skyrockets. Economic policies nko? There are way too horrible. I recall between 2012-2015, lot of jobs were posted on the FP regularly but today? It shall never be well with those people who voted Buhari in 2015 especially Ndi intellectwats with Olodo degrees from fanciful universities.

I really do wish, pray and hope you get something because it's not easy as a young man. I don't have the money to donate but what kind of business are you looking at?

I was thinking of joining a friend to start importing goods and sell over here in the country since he makes good money from it but the start up capital is much and he is not willing to help financially since he already agreed to help me import if I get the money so for now am just looking for capital to start a POS Business around me since I noticed bank is far and most people will need POS around, I already got a link in the bank for the POS machine, all I need is just a little capital, at least 20 to 30k to start small and begin from there.
I know with time I will be able to meet up with the importation stuff and also keep the POS Business running too.

I just pray I get the fund so I can start early
All on God o

someone also gave similar advise yesterday, he said he got a job with a security outfit and used the resources to start up his business.

Security job is the easiest job to get in Lagos. Google security companies in Lagos island. If you can get two security jobs very close to each other. You can be earning 50K monthly. That was what helped me raise capital for my business.

So from now on I will be updating this thread on how my job hunting is going till I get a job.

I decided to go for another job hunting yesterday, I will be updating the thread later in the day on how it went.
Re: How Difficult It Is To Get A Job In Nigeria by Humbleguy92: 9:24am On Feb 13, 2021
Okay guys so I went for another job hunting on Thursday, I must say looking for a job is harder than most people thinks. Firstly you have to think of the stress walking round, looking for vacancies and where to submit CV. Chai I suffer that day Sha ( I search round to the extent my mouth was so dry and I needed water ASAP but could not get any pure water except bottle water but watin man go do as na only transport money remian, I just had to bear it till I got home) You can imagine that kind feeling

So I left the house to go for another round of job hunting and decided to focus more on wuse 2 and all the zones in wuse (like wuse zone 3,4 and 5)

First it was cool, then I started hearing things like don't waste your CV with us because most of our staffs are still at home because of the pandemic, well I was heartbroken that they can't even just collect the CV for collecting sake but come to think of it, it's actually better to say the truth and reject the CV than taking it and giving you false hope so we move.
Well I didn't let that stop me from continuing my job hunt and I continue walking round to see if I will get lucky, after Much walking, I finally get to submit some CV'S at some offices, hotels and schools ( I decided to start applying for teaching job too bcus it's better than just staying at home. At least let me start from there and I pray I get one)

Getting a job is this country is harder than most people think, especially when you don't have any connect but that won't stop us from trying since most of us don't even have the capital to start up a business.
I never believe I will beg anyone to get even a cleaner job but I found myself doing that bcus am just tired of being idle and I need something to do.
You know that feeling of you waking up every morning and you head out to work even if the pay is not much but at least you are going out every day.

Well I believe I will get something doing soon and will also come here to give you guys testimonies.
One thing is sure, no matter what am going through now, I can and will never involve myself in illegal stuff(call me whatever you want but I will never do it bcus everyday for the thief and one day for the owner).

With God all things are possible
Re: How Difficult It Is To Get A Job In Nigeria by Humbleguy92: 9:33am On Feb 13, 2021
Well I have also decided to solicit for funds to start up a business as I continue my job search.

My aim is to get up to #50,000 to start up a business, I don't even mind if it's going to be borrow from anyone as I intend to borrow from money lender or loan apps but I was advised not to do so bcus of some reasons so that's why I have chosen to bring it here and hopefully I get help from someone.
I already told some uncle's and they keep on promising so let me just add it here too and I pray someone help from his heart.
Bellow is my account number and nothing is too small and if you wish to talk to me, my number is also at my first post.

Thanks and God bless
