How The Community Youths In My Village Destroyed My Mother's House. by samx4real(m): 9:43pm On Feb 07, 2021
On the 30th of January 2021, I received a call from my brother telling me that my cousin who is the community youth chairman is dead. He was made the youth chairman about a year ago.

He is in his early 40, and he stays with my mother with his wife and children. The house they live in was built by my late elder sister (she died in 2014). He had high blood pressure and I don't think must people know about this.

On Saturday, 30th of January he woke up and complain to my mother that he had headache, my mother on her own will gave him a pain killer (paracetamol). The pain got worst and my mother have to call other members of the family to come over to the house that he (my cousin) is very sick and she don't understand what is wrong with him. They came and they were together when he passed on (died).

The problem now, is that the community youth came to the house, destroyed all the windows, the protectors, the doors, the ceilings, the water tank, the bore hole and my mother's plantain farm, they said they want to burn my mother alive, with the claim that she is the one responsible for his death.

On hearing this... We called them in the village and we were asking them why the brutality against my mother and why did they destroy her house? One of my uncle whose house is close to my mother's house, picked the call with the voices of the youths in the background were asking us if the house was more important than the person that has died? they were challenging me and my brother that we can't do them anything, that they will deal with us, they said several things, they were saying we can't the fight the community. They said they want to gather money to go to the mirror (native doctor) who will tell them who is responsible for the death of my cousin.

Am sharing this story to well meaning Nigerians to come to my mother's aid. I want justice for her, she was rescued from their anger by good people in the village, but right now she's recuperating in my sister's place in another town.

This people has destroyed her house and everything that she is managing. I want justice for my mother. I need advise on how to go about this. I don't want the jungle justice otherwise things might get bloody and out of hands.

Thank God your mom is safe.
At this point, police can't really do anything, why would they think your mom killed him?

Una get elders in your community yeah? Make una sit down discuss on why the rampaging youths destroyed your mom's house.

If you want to involve security forces, invite soldiers to meddle in the peace meeting, not police.
And the stupid youth's must compensate you guys for the destruction or tender an apology.

I hate when people take laws in their hands.

What's wrong with this village people, it is after the damage that you will go to the useless mirror to find out who killed the man,Hmmm. Anambra people have come again ooo

So who must have been feeding them the lies that your mother was responsible for his death?

Was there an altercation between your mum and your cousin before his demise?

Maybe you should go to your village chief, Igwe, Emir, Oba of that said village and register your displeasure...He in turn will call the youth and discuss.. if you are not satisfied, then you go to the police ....But Please look after your mum.. Very important.. It must have been traumatic for her

Living in poverty is not an excuse to be destructive. So accommodating your married cousin who at his early 40s still had to live with your mum out of her magnanimity, who while alive couldn't house himself and his nuclear family has now become what she should be punished for?

While they are focused on "go to the mirror", get the police involved because that is criminal.

I know of a Catholic Priest who purposely flew down to Nigeria to purposely have tens of youths from his community arrested, bundled and locked up at the Police State command as the youths destroyed the farms of his elderly parents and destroyed some part of the house they were living in because the idle youths believed the destroyed farms blocked the expanse of land they wanted to sell to an unsuspecting buyer.

They were moved to Zone 9 in those days, the elders in the village who were indirectly supporting the youths who were mostly their sons with their silence, were forced to go beg the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese to plead with the Priest to withdraw the case, they would pay for damaging the farms and the destroyed parts of the house and the village is willing to sign an undertaking in the presence of the Police, the Bishop's representative, the lawyers and upon release they would leave the village to go out and hustle.

So you see, you don't pamper such people.

One of the elders of my mum family is claiming that he (my cousin) had a quarrel and my mother said he will see...

That was all.

In Short, this elder I believe is d one that master minded the whole thing.

That means you guys knew who was inciting the youths.. Take the matter to the chief of your village.. drag the man/ woman in question.. Let him/her explain...

You should have done this long before the youths even started this nonsense

Guy go to the nearest police and file a report of threat to life. get a lawyer and seek legal advice of how to proceed from there. he may find it needful to petition higher police formation.
