Otherwise by now you should have known that there is no spiritual gifts that's benefitial outside God's Temple (Jesus Christ), they failed to keep God's law {Deuteronomy 6:4-6} so they must bear the pains now! Proverbs 29:17

Meanwhile spirits are everywhere, they're like trees planted all over the earth {John 15:1} they surely have similar GIFTS because they're all spirits creatures but their FRUITS totally differs! Matthew 7:16-10

So if your parents are Christians they would have inculcated in you the love for the FRUIT of the SPIRIT {Galatians 5:22-23} because the GIFTS will not last forever! 1Corinthians 13:8-13

why call on atheists to stand up on your behalf when you are not yourself an atheist?

You should be doing the standing up instead. You seem sure of what you want to do with your life so why do you let the opinion of your parent units get in your way?

Parents factor only when the ward in question accepts that as his lot. There are many examples of peoples in the same Nigeria who went against parent where it concerns their future and lives. I see no reason why anyone, OP included, would choose bondage(having parents decide the path for his life) when freedom is their for the taking.

It will try to frustrate to submission. If you fail to do that now it will still show up in your children or grandchildren. Seek counsel from people that can handle such, MFM is my first suggestion. If it's just a covenant with my blood, why is my a-year-old daughter also born with powers? Anywhere my wife goes, unknown people with special eyes use to call her to a corner to tell her the kind of child she carries. They use to tell her my beautiful daughter is a dynasty of her own and should be taken care of.

All power belongs to God. Train her in the way of the LORD. So she can use her ability for a good course. I've said it before we are in the time of God's Era! Spirit beings will be born as humans and they will retain power in them.
