Education / Girl Child's Forum Appeal For Support by Ravenreporters(m): 9:15am On Feb 06, 2023
Those that have should know they were once like those that have not, a thought that spurned OCHANYA, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF IDOMA STUDENTS to use her tenure to affect the vulnerable daughters we have in Zone C.

Her Idea to digitalise them so they can package their skills to sell and showcase on the national and international digital market is worthy of everyone's support.

She also wishes to help some of our vulnerable daughters who are at the verge of dropping out of school pay their fees and support them with some feminine needs.

This is why i write that we give our Daughter the Maximum support in finances, Material and even scholarship for some of these girls she has keenly penned down from all our broken communities.

Your support will go a long way in helping a daughter of Zone C stay back in school and also seek digital ways of learning things online by self through youtube and other trending sites, teaching skills online.

TV/Movies / Re: Pageant President, King Fajag, Carpets BBNaija Over Beauty's Disqualification by Ravenreporters(m): 10:48am On Aug 09, 2022
Where you not irritated by her frequent loud mouths and violent behaviors? What's beauty when there's no character? You people must have done a very bad job in camp while grooming her before she became Miss Nigeria and it has shown itself. She has no character and she can't hide under the guise of alcohol knowing there's a limit to what she can do in the house.

This reaction is useless and myopic.
Culture / AVM MONDAY MORGAN rtd Condoles With Ohimini & Okpokwu People In Birthday Message by Ravenreporters(m): 8:54pm On Jun 15, 2022
The National Coordinator of Benue Rebirth Movement, Air Vice Marshall Monday Riku Morgan sends messages of Condolence to the people of Ohimini and Edumoga who have been victims of recent attacks by Fulani herd militia.
He also used the time to unravel the misconception regarding his visit to Benue state government house after the gubernatorial Primaries.

Rumor had it that he went to apologies to the state governor Samuel Ortom, but he has since clarified the visit as a move to accept a truce so Zone C can re-strategise and not stay on the fence in matters that concern the state.
He also said he isn't a general that back out and leave his people aloof or stranded in the battlefield and since he hadn't done anything against the person of the governor, he has no reason to apologise whatsoever.
The movement is not a personal effort but the collective aspirations of all Benue sons and daughters.

Culture / Idoma Elders & Youth Groups Reject Pastor Elaigwu As Och’idoma by Ravenreporters(m): 4:25pm On Jan 06, 2022
IDOMA ELDERS & YOUTH GROUPS REJECT PASTOR ELAIGWU AS OCH’IDOMA : CITING ABERRATIONS IN SELECTION PROCESS NOT INLINE WITH THRONE ETHICS

__By Mason Kunte Ejembi_
06 | 01 | 2022

It is no news that the paramount ruler of the Idoma people Occupying the southern Benue trough has gone on a hunting expedition, a phrase used to describe the demise of a king while they prepare for another.

According to the laws of the throne as established by the 22 district chiefs who are custodians of culture in all idomaland including the Igedes, once a king dies and the appropriate rituals are done over a period, they gather and select a new king from amongst themselves to become the Och’Idoma. The ceremony is usually calm and largely on consensus without negative reactions until recently, when the supposed new king was announced without the participations of the 22 district chiefs.

Youths went out with placards to warn the participants of the dangers associated with electing a king without the chiefs, but the roles of Idoma representatives in Benue state House of Assembly during the 2016 era already gave the culture of the people away as the seating Assembly modelled the Benue chieftaincy laws according to the selection ways of Tor Tiv (king of Tivs), which is far different from the Idoma people who are of Kwararafa Origin.

Notable elders like Senator Ameh Ebute, General EJiga, General Lawrence Onoja, Senator David Mark, Audu Ogbe, Chief Steven Lawani, Avm Toni Adokwu etc and other youth and socio cultural groups rejected the emergence of Pastor John Elaigwu as the och’Idoma Elect.

If the government continues and impose the pastor on the good people of Idoma, the altercations would be a half prepared king and the consequences are bad.

Some of the rituals with grave consequences are the un-beading of the late king, The elders are asking if the appropriate rituals were done by the 22 districts who bore the king two beads each on the day he ascend he swore at Ikpaje to be upright and just. The question is who cut the beads from the hands of the late king? Did he visit Ikpaje with the 22 district chiefs to un-bead the king?

Furthermore, the elders are asking since the 22 district heads were not allowed to choose the new paramount ruler, will they be a beading ritual? Because it is the beads that signifies his power over other chiefs. It is believed that, if a king visits a district without the beads of that district amongst others on his wrist, he will not be regarded as their king, hence the Question, will he be a complete Agaba Idu?

In conclusion, the elders are not against the emergency of an Agatu person or a pastor as king but the processes altered the culture of the peace loving people of Idoma.

Culture / We Heard They Took Bribes And We Know Them: We Want Och'idoma, Not Och'ortom by Ravenreporters(m): 3:19pm On Dec 30, 2021
As Idoma people gather today to select the next paramount ruler, Idoma youths also gathered in front of the Street Leading to the Local Government secretariat in Otukpo with a message of reminder, in a bid to appeal to the conscience of the king makers to do the right thing since they couldn't wait for the King, Och'Idoma the fourth (IV) to return from his Hunting expedition.

The path leading to the venue had youths carrying write ups with a clear cut message saying Alekwu k'Idoma is watching, Do the right thing", It is "Och'Idoma, Not Och'Benue", "we Know the betrayals in Idomaland", 'We wont take an Imposed King", etc...

The convener of Idoma Youth Heritage Mr. Israel Achichi and the President of the group Mason Ejembi amongst other local security heads were on ground to make sure the outing was not misunderstood by the Police and other security men sent to secure the venue.

The idea of this gentle reminder came out of a lingering rumour that some of the chiefs have collected bribes in thousands and millions to vote for a certain candidate supported by the state government who is deemed unsettled.

The turn is for Apa/Agatu, no doubt, but Idoma people deserves a king that has the interest of the people at heart because, most paramount rulers in Nigeria now are well educated people in the calibre of Professors and doctors who serve not just by pedigrees but with great interest in growth and development of their land and Idomas cant afford to have a docile leader in this age of political and mental awareness.

It has been ages since Hon.Nelson Alapa left the Green Chamber where he excellently represented the people of Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency.

He did a lot for his constituency and other Idoma and Igede Communities even years after leaving the house of Rep, he upheld the act of giving to the widows and Children.

#HNA celebrates with 500 widows in a feast where they ate and drank.
This years Edition of supporting the widows saw an increased surge from 200 to 500 widows spread over the 9 local governments of Benue south.

They prayed and sang as He supported them with an undisclosed cash sum and brand new wrappers.

The women prayed and sought the face of God, fervently asking that #HNA be elevated to any position he seeks to encourage him to do more.

Politics / Engr. Benson Abounu Is Benue's God Sent- by Ravenreporters(m): 11:31pm On Jul 19, 2021
By-Engr. John Ajeibi

Engr. Benson Ocholuje Abounu, the current Deputy Governor of Benue state is a man of capacity with huge believe in human capital development. As an upright man, he abhors waste of funds and eschew the sycophancy of unnecessary misapplication of funds in the name of philanthropic activities aimed at gaining cheap popularity.

I have followed Engr. Benson Abounu carefully and observed his selfless assistance to people far away from the cameras unlike other politicians would do. He doesn't work or do his cheerful deeds for appraisals.

I got emotional hearing his investment in human, aiding people through various lifetime issues from grass to Grace, people from all professional works of life including lawyers, Doctors and Engineers took top flight due to his benevolence.

I have seen him paid hospital bills for others who were sick, and also watched someone testified in church about how he gave Children Scholarships to study in higher institution.

If Engr. Abounu can do all these as a Deputy Governor we can imagine what he would do when he is Governor.

He will never allow pensioners to starve as his conscience will not allow him.

A technocrat that feels the pulse of his people is certainly the Governor that we need.

Lets join hands in building our state by entrusting our collective destinies in the hands of Engr. Benson Abounu, a blessed man that his name has followed his performance Ocholuje/Ogbobuluwa K' Idoma.

Politics / Hna Hits 2023 Senatorial Gong: Says Its A New Begining by Ravenreporters(m): 10:49pm On Jun 30, 2021
THE ROAD TO 2023 SENATE: Hon. NELSON ALAPA CONSULTS ZONAL APC OFFICIAL

There’s an adage that says he who gets to the river first can never fetch dirty water, the literal interpretation here can be seen by a blind man and also heard by a deaf and dumb as Hon. Nelson Alapa, a former deputy minority leader in the National Assembly made his intentions known to the people that run the affairs of APC in Benue south.

The gathering which was envisaged to be a consultation and an opinion seeking meeting, turned out to be an outright endorsement after the host gave an introductory hint on why they were gathered.

Declaring his intention in Otukpo, chief Nelson Alapa said he stepped down from the gubernatorial race to ease the chance of Idoma in producing and projecting a consensus candidate amongst all those aspiring the office.
Zone C APC chairman, Alhaji Hassan Mohammed said chief Alapa is the first aspirant to declare his intention in contesting the senatorial race for the party before the leadership of the party at the zonal level.

Honourable Eddy Anyebe, an APC stalwart described chief Alapa as a product which can be sold anywhere because he is a people-oriented person, Hon. Eddy further reminded the gathering that it was until Hon. Nelson got to the green Chamber that people believed there was money meant for projects in the House of Representatives and when he gets to the Senate, the entire zone shall benefit more. He stressed that the leadership of the party at the zonal level should step up their game since the aspirant is sellable and those who profited from his enormous projects while he was in the house can still attest for his goodness till date.
Since it was a gathering to consult and discuss, the issues of sentiments about zoning the senatorial seat was raised but having been born of an Igede Mother from Uwoku in Oju local Government to a father from Otukpo, and also married to the daughter of an Ogbadibo man, the triangular background of Hon. Nelson Alapa made him most worthy of the senate to further spread the dividends of Democracy across the zone.
Others who spoke at the occasion includes the zonal women leader, local government chairmen from the zone and former chairman of Ado local government all alluded to that fact that chief Alapa has all it takes to win the election with impeccable character while assuring that they will domesticate the project of selling him in their various local governments and wards.

The highlight of the Event was the point where the Obi women leader handed the mantle of endorsement to Hon. Nelson as a push to show off their strong feeling of support for his senatorial ambition come 2023.

Politics / Fear Grips FG As Regional Leaders Converge To Tackle Constitution. by Ravenreporters(m): 2:50pm On May 05, 2021
Breaking News:-(EMINENT Nigerians, including former Chief of Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (retd); former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang; Second Republic Senator, Professor Banji Akintoye; President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo; former Vice-Chairman of Arik Air, Senator Anietie Okon; Commodore Idongegist Nkanga, (retd); of PANDEF, the leader of Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Bitrus Pogu; former Minister, Prof. Yusuf Turaki and 121 others, yesterday, alleged that the 1999 constitution was skewed in favour of the North.

They also petitioned the United Nations Security Council, African Union, European Union, United States and the British Government on the need to urgently convoke a Sovereign National Conference to discuss the constitutionality of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria and the 1914 Amalgamation of the Southern and Northern Nigeria within 90 days to save the people from oppression, stagnation and squalor.

The leaders said this after a meeting in Lagos.

The leaders, numbering 127, who spoke under the aegis of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, described the 1999 constitution as a fraud; an impunity, hijack and a confiscation of the sovereignties, powers and assets of the South and Middle Belt People of the country by those who clandestinely designed it.

The statement reads: “We gather here this day as Accredited Delegates of the Constituent Component Nationalities of Nigeria, under the aegis of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, being a Joint-Cooperation Framework for the Self-Determination Initiatives of the Southern and Middle-Belt of Nigeria on behalf of our Various Peoples and Interests, to Pronounce an end to our toleration of Nigeria’s Unitary Constitutional Order, Unilaterally Imposed and Forcefully Maintained by a Section of the Nigerian country, in negation of the federal basis upon which Nigeria became one political union at independence in 1960, and in brutal subjugation of our collective sovereignties currently being forcefully and fraudulently appropriated by the Nigerian State.

“We gather here today before the global community, to formally proclaim a sovereignty dispute in rejection of the further operation of the imposed, unity constitutional arrangements of Nigeria and in assertion of our inalienable right to self-determination.

“The History of the Colonial beginnings of Nigeria as a Commercial Venture of some Colonial Masters is too well-known to admit of any further repetitions here but suffice it to recall:

“That the manipulations that went into the Flawed Foundations laid in the 1914 Amalgamation of the Protectorates of Southern Nigeria with the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria, created a lopsided Union, locking the Diverse Peoples of Nigeria into one Political Union with two mortally opposed civilizations.

“That as Independence approached in 1960, the Diversities of the Various Peoples of the Nigerian Union Dictated the Adoption of the Federal Constitutional Model by the then three largely Autonomous Regions, (namely Eastern, Western and Northern Regions of Nigeria) as the Basis of entering Into Independence as one Political Union in 1960.

“That amidst the early strains of Post-Independence Nigeria arising mainly from the aforementioned Foundational and Pre-Independence manipulations by the Colonial Rulers of the Nigerian Union, the Military coups of 1966 Truncated the Federal Constitutional Basis of Nigeria and plunged the fledgling Union into a catastrophic 30-Month War with it’s Breakaway Eastern Region between 1967 and 1970, triggered by disputations around the terms of the Nigerian Union and leaving in its trail, human carnage in excess of 3million people and a fractured Union now resting on an Unworkable Unitary Constitutional Order Imposed in 1979, by the Fiat of the illicit “Federal Government” which emerged since the 1966 Collapse of the Federation of Nigeria, Forcefully Hijacking and Confiscating the Sovereignties of the Constituent Component Regions of Nigeria that Federated their Sovereignties in 1960.

“That the Prevailing 1999 Constitution of Nigeria which was a wholesale adoption of the 1979 edition via Decree No.24 of 1999, revalidated and reinforced the aforementioned Hijack and confiscation of the Sovereignties, Powers and Assets of the Four Erstwhile Federating Regions by the aforementioned Illicit Federal Government of Nigeria which by Decrees, fractured the Four Regions into 36 States, that are completely emasculated by a 68-Item Federal Exclusive Legislative List that Comprehensively strip the Federating States of All Key Economic Assets and Governmental Powers, thereby creating a totally dysfunctional, corruption-prone, over-centralized system that has failed in every respect, manifesting in Gross Insecurity, Decayed Infrastructure and Mass Impoverishment such that Nigeria, with its Vast Human and Material Resource Endowments, has now emerged as the poverty capital of the world as well as the Global Leading Example of a failed state.

“There is a countrywide consensus against the Unitary Constitutional Arrangements Imposed incrementally on Nigeria by a combination of Guile, Brute Force and Impunity between 1966 and 1999 now codified by the 1999 Constitution. This countrywide consensus had manifested in Several Unilateral Regional and Joint Multi-Regional Actions in Repudiation and Rejection of the Unitary 1999 Constitution of Nigeria:

“The first indication was when in year 2000, the 12 contiguous states of the far North, Simultaneously Imposed and began to implement Sharia in their 3 Domains against the express provision of the 1999 Constitution which in Section 10, forbids the adoption of any state religion. This translates to a unilateral secession from the Secular Union of Nigeria.

“Between 2005 and 2006, a Sovereign Conference of the Ethnic Nationalities of Nigeria, Convened by the Pro-National Conference Organizations (PRONACO), Deliberated exhaustively and produced A Draft Peoples’ Constitution 2006, which had the potential of restoring Nigeria to it’s damaged Federal Foundations. Though Ignored by successive federal governments in Nigeria, that draft became the New Federating consensus against the Prevailing Unitary Constitutional Order in Nigeria.

“It is pertinent to note that across all the Regions of Nigeria, various Socio-Cultural and Ethnic-Interests Vanguard Organizations have also been vehement in expressing the Constitutional Grievances of their own People, (some even violently), thus on the Yoruba side, we have the Afenifere, the Yoruba Elders Council (YCE), Agbekoya, the Yoruba Liberation Command, (YOLICOM), YWC and many more including the ILANA OMO OODUA which now aggregates Several Yoruba Self-Determination Initiatives across the World.

“In the Eastern part of Southern Nigeria, we have Ohanaeze, Movement for the Survival of the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND); Ijaw National Congress, (INC); Ijaw Youth Council (IYC); PANDEF, Midwest Movement, the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, (NDPVF), MEND, MASSOB, IPOB, others. In the Middle-Belt, we have the Middle-Belt Forum, (MBF), MBC, SOKAPU, CONAECDA and many others.

“Several notable Statesmen in Nigeria including Generals Olusegun Obasanjo and Yakubu Gowon, both (former Heads of State) have lent their voices to the urgent imperative of the Fundamental Reworking of the Damaged Constitutional Basis of Nigeria, warning that any further delay may lead to the catastrophic collapse of the Distressed Nigerian Union.

“Nigeria’s Former Defence Minister, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, (retd) had also urged the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria facing the Ethnic Cleansing Onslaught of the Murderous invaders to defend themselves and their lands in the face of obvious collusion of the Federal Government of Nigeria and its Armed Forces with the Fulani invaders. In the aftermath of the October 2020 #EndSARS Protests many, including the Nigerian Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) now insist that Nigeria needs to be renegotiated.

“On specific constitutional grievances touching on the sovereignties of the constituent components of the federation of Nigeria, the leaders opined that:

“The claim in the Preamble to the 1999 Constitution that ‘We the People’ Firmly and Solemnly Resolved to live in One Political Union and that we Enacted and Gave Ourselves the 1999 Constitution, is self-evidently false as the Decree No 24 of 1999 by which the so-called 1999 Constitution was Promulgated, outlined step-by-step, the Process by which the author of the 1999 Constitution, the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council, came about the Document it labeled “the 1999 Constitution. This is a criminal usurpation of the sovereignties of the constituent components whose Exclusive Right it is to make for themselves the Constitution by which they will federate and be governed, as an incident of their sovereignty.

Even by the admission of the 1999 Constitution at Section 14(2)(a), “Sovereignty Belongs to the People, from whom, Government, through this Constitution Derive all its Powers and Authority.

“This is the fountain from which all other constitutional grievances flow and there is no other remedy to this particular grievance than an autochthonous process by which the constituent components will submit their peoples and their lands into a union, and also stipulate the terms of that union, to be ratified by referendums and plebiscites.”)

Nairaland / General / Agatu Petrol Tanker Explosion: Sam Ode Expresses Sympathy., Calls For Help. by Ravenreporters(m): 4:48pm On Apr 19, 2021
Former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Sam Ode, has called on both the State and National Emergency Management Agencies, non-governmental organisations and other related government agencies, to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the people of Oshigbudu in Agatu local government area of Benue State to avert the impending humanitarian crisis in the area.

Hon. Ode made this call on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at his Makurdi residence when he received the tragic news of a petrol tanker explosion that left scores of people dead and property worth millions of naira burnt to ashes when the driver of the tanker transporting petrol lost control and fell over spilling its content into people’s houses and business premises at the Oshigbudu/Obagaji junction of the Otukpo-Oweto federal highway, resulting in a huge explosion, inflicting damage of immeasurable magnitude on residents of the affected locality.

The former Minister, who is a frontline governorship aspirant in Benue stated: “There is already a humanitarian crisis in the affected community. Apart from the dead, many who are seriously injured need medical attention that are scarce. It is a serious emergency that demands the attention of Federal and State authorities as well as the intervention of international and non-state actors.

"Those who managed to escape the tragic inferno now face the sad reality of homelessness and hunger as their homes, food and other means of livelihood have gone up in flames. This is a traumatic experience for many in the community and the victims need urgent response to their fundamental needs, such as emergency medical care, food, clean water and safe shelter, among other needs, all of which have become a huge challenge.

“I therefore call on the State and National Emergency Management Agencies and other related government agencies, non-governmental organizations at both national and international levels, as well as public-spirited individuals, to please come to the aid of the people of Oshigbudu by urgently providing relief materials that would cushion the impact of this unfortunate accident on the affected families and assuage their plight.”

Hon. Ode, who was visibly disturbed when he heard the sad news, commiserated with the families that lost their loved ones and properties in the inferno.

“Words are never adequate to express the proper sense of loss at a time like this. My thoughts are with all the victims of the inferno at this moment of pain and colossal losses either due to bereavement or loss of property.

“Our hopes are however set on full recovery from this fire accident."

In a related circumstance, the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria sincerely empathizes with the people of Adoka Ehaje, Icho and Entekpa communities in Otukpo local government area of Benue State over last Saturday’s destruction of private and public buildings/utilities occasioned by heavy rainstorm in the area.

Hon. Ode who described the destruction of homes, offices, schools and business premises as “highly regrettable” also called on relevant government agencies, NGOs, charitable individuals and all illustrious sons and daughters of Otukpo to promptly come to the rescue of the affected families and communities to forestall another imminent humanitarian crisis.

Nairaland / General / No Widow Or Politician In Heaven -hon. Nelson Alapa by Ravenreporters(m): 10:10am On May 28, 2020
NO WIDOW OR POLITICIAN IN HEAVEN -HON. NELSON ALAPA

After some years away from the green chamber where he represented Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Hon. Nelson Alapa didn't stop in his act of giving to support Widows, Orphans and the less privileged in the society.
In company of Smile Foundation crew, The Honourable visited Widows of Ohimini Local and it turned into a semi crusade in Onyagede where he donated Bags of rice and an unknown amount of cash support.

It was a rare scene of grateful hearts as the widows who were not expecting anything from anyone since it wasn't an election season, sang and prayed fervently asking God to increase Hon Nelson Alapa's Blessings on all sides.

The Honourable Was also emotional in his speech as he encouraged the Widows to endure life in the fear of God who is the ultimate for times are so hard and tough, some people can't remember the last time they had real supper much less a good breakfast and this gives me sleepless night especially for widows who have children and children who have no parents.

He also encouraged them to continue to abide by basic principles of peaceful coexistence with one another as they associate and gather to pray and worship.

He left with a promise to return again bigger and better before the end of 2020.

It is sad to say but the truth is sad most times as I hope this report draws the attention of the management to do something drastic about the fall and fall of this one time pride of Africa.

The place is understaffed thereby leading to poor services, This morning while at the piano lounge, we about 18 customers with just one staff to attend and a lot of others got disinterested and disappointed due to the poor services.

This is sad and it feels like cheating, we hope this report brings the management to do something about it and brace up to own those five stars it used to have.
