Foreign Affairs / Re: Tanzania Shuts Down 5 Hydroelectric Stations To Reduce Excess Electricity by tommy589(m): 11:40am
Hier:

Did you read the part where they said this is the first, last paragraph

"It is the first time Tanzania, which suffers chronic power shortages, has closed hydroelectric stations as a result of excess production."

Meaning, there is now excess production

Excess production where only 29% of the population have access to electricity. Have you considered maybe it's lack of affordability to buy power that led to excess?

Let me cite Republic of Benin that has 24 hours electricity.Despite the few hours of electricity we use daily in Nigeria, many homes and business places in Benin can not match 6 hours of irregular electricity used by an average Nigerian household or business place. I last visited four years ago,in all my journey over the years I did not encounter a single filling station with fuel dispenser or generator. And this boils down to cost of electricity
So, It won't be a surprise to me if Benin shut down power generation due to excess production

I've placed a bet on iLOTBET favoring Tottenham to win the upcoming North London Derby against Arsenal. The match holds substantial importance for both teams' ambitions in the 2023/24 season. Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham must secure a victory to close the gap on Aston Villa in the pursuit of Champions League qualification.

Currently trailing Villa by six points but possessing two games in hand, Spurs have the opportunity to narrow the margin to just three points if Unai Emery's Arsenal triumphs in their Saturday evening clash. Meanwhile, Arsenal is also eager for points as they vie for the Premier League title.

Leading the league table with five games left, Arsenal's position might undergo a shift by Sunday afternoon due to midweek fixtures involving Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, with Liverpool playing on Saturday afternoon. With the North London Derby looming, Postecoglou faces crucial decisions regarding his team selection. Football.london delves into the challenges awaiting the Australian manager.

Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal Full-time win for arsenal. they won Chelsea 5:0 full time beating, spacing full-time odd on Arsenal to win

Access to electricity (Nk) - 52.6
Access to electricity (NG) - 59.5

Access to electricity in rural areas - unavailable data. So I don't know where you saw your non-existent rural power.

Other notable data to take note of.

55% of households in North Korea have access to cheap solar systems (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-solar-feature/cheap-solar-panels-power-consumer-appliance-boom-in-north-korea-idUSKCN1RT2P1/)

Increased power generation by private companies has resulted to North Korea having 22 hours daily electricity (https://english.hani.co/arti/english_edition/e_northkorea/878329.html)

You clearly did not understand the data

That 52.6 for NK was only for those in the Urban area...there was nothing for the rural because their rural areas lack electricity...so I am actually right when I said Nigeria is far far better than NK in access to electricity.

Reuters is not a source of data when it comes to energy...I can also pull out source that disagree with you.

Mille:

Meanwhile in Nigeria, they will count me that has 2 hours electricity every 4 days as having access to electricity. Go to Ibedc Twitter page and see people complaining everyday of not having light for weeks. Those ones too will be classified as having access to electricity.

As a student, I was posted to do my IT in Isaga-orile near Abeokuta, Ogun state. I spent one year in that place. I only saw light once in that town for just 10 minutes. 10 minutes in a year will also be classified as having access to electricity.

Like the Yoruba adage says, Ti won ba n tan e, ma tan ra re. Make we no dey deceive ourselves.

Btw, see attached image. An electricity distribution company had the audacity to release to the public that it supplies people with 0 and 1 hours electricity daily. I'm sure you'll classify those ones too as having access to electricity.

Like I said even the countries people like you will classify have more electricity than Nigeria..there are places you don't get 5 hours of electricity in SA.

Just now someone was shouting Nigeria my country just because writer posted news about Tanzania shutting down grid due to excess supply which does not translate to having 24-hour energy.

Crime / Lady Pours Hot Cooking Oil On Man Over N100 In Adamawa by NaijaCover(m): 11:37am
A Lady Identified As Hajara Yusuf, On Wednesday, April 24, was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State for allegedly dousing hot cooking oil on a man over N100.

Hajara appeared before the court presided by Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, for the offence of causing grievous hurt to her victim, Adamu Abubakar, over the said amount of money.

While being cross-examined, the defendant who hails from the Lakare community in Yola South LGA, Adamawa State admitted having perpetrated the heinous crime. It was in consideration of the gravity of the offence and severity of the wounds that the presiding judge referred the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police command for investigation.

He thereafter adjourned the matter to the 8th May 2024, to enable the police command to complete the investigation and arraign the defendant for prosecution.

Hajara, poured hot cooking oil on her victim on the 22nd of April 2024, while exchanging words over the sum of N100, the money for soya bean cake ordered by the victim.

The Victim who also hails from Lakare, had a misunderstanding over the payment of the money and in the course of it, he slapped the lady who was frying the cake.

Out of provocation, the defendant carried her frying pan with hot groundnut oil and poured it on the body of the victim thereby burning his neck, chest and back.

Jesus Christ isn't physically God, he's God in flesh.
Jesus is physically human with a human soul but his spirit is the divinity of God.
Unlike our spirit which is made in image of God , Jesus spirit is the divinity of God.

That's why Colossians said in Jesus lies the fullness of Godhead deity.

The human soul of Jesus acknowledged that he was given divinity and he honoured his Father who gave him the divinity.
Daniel 7.13 explain how someone like a son of man was brought before ancient of days and given divinity.

So if U understand above, all the questions U people and Muslims ask about humanity and limitations of Jesus will become clear.

Ask more questions and I will explain further using the scriptures.

Why is it that most ladies don't want to date or marry their age mates?

Is there a taboo in it?
Financial/economic reasons.

Most guys of 20 to 30yrs in Nigeria are still struggling to stand financially.

19 to 24 are probably in school or learning a trade or something, may not have the mental and psychological maturity to go into a committed relationship with his mate.

But a girl of 20 to 27yrs is mature and ready for relationship or even marriage because much is not expected from her financially compared to the expectation she and the society expects from a guy of her age.

Most ladies that dated their mates ended up regretting cos when it was time to commit or tie the knot, the guy will remember that she is old, she wont respect him cos of their equal age bla bla bla.

And the few ladies that dated and married their age mates are just lucky few because dating your age mate as a girl doesn't always end well for you, unless you just want to catch fun for the time being, because most times such relationships leads nowhere

TV/Movies / Full List: Multichoice Increases Dstv, Gotv Subscription Prices… See New Rates by Abaga001: 10:36am
MultiChoice Nigeria is set to raise prices across its DStv packages for the third consecutive year, beginning May 1, 2024.

This move follows similar increases in 2022 and 2023, when subscribers increased by 16.3% to 18.6%, citing economic hardships as a primary reason, with the company justifying the hike as necessary to maintain quality services in the face of challenging economic conditions.

“Due to the various economic challenges impacting our business operations, we have had to review the price of our packages to continue delighting our customers with great entertainment, anytime and anywhere.

“MultiChoice acknowledges the difficult economic climate and thus kept the increase at the lowest possible point whilst ensuring sustainability and provision of quality services.”

However, this year’s new subscription fees were communicated to customers via an email titled “Price Adjustment on DStv and GOtv Packages” on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Below is an excerpt from the email message that subscribers received.

Jack Grealish: "Everyone loves to talk about goals & assists. It’s annoying the way the game has gone.

You can have a brilliant game and not get a goal or an assist and they say ‘he did nothing’. If you score two tap-ins at the back post and not play well at all, then everyone’s like ‘Ah, he’s brilliant’

Crime / Urgent News: Severe Alarm As 119 Prisoners Flee Suleja Prison. by naijaeyessblog: 10:22am
In Niger State, a state of alarm ensued when a total of 119 inmates escaped following the destruction of the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Suleja due to a heavy rainstorm. Adamu Duza, the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), revealed this in a statement issued on Thursday morning.

Duza explained that the intense storm, accompanied by heavy rainfall around 9 pm, caused significant damage to the old Suleja custodial centre, including parts of its perimeter fence, leading to the escape of numerous inmates.

He stated, "A heavy downpour that lasted for several hours on the night of Wednesday, 24 April 2024 has wreaked havoc on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Suleja, Niger state, as well as surrounding buildings, destroying part of the custodial facility, including its perimeter fence, giving way to the escape of a total of 118 inmates of the facility."

The NCoS swiftly activated its recapture procedures and, in collaboration with other security agencies, managed to recapture 10 escaped inmates, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals.

Duza acknowledged the aging infrastructure of many correctional facilities, noting ongoing efforts to replace them with modern facilities. He emphasized ongoing construction projects for six ultra-modern custodial centers across Nigeria and the renovation of existing facilities.

Assuring the public of their safety, Duza urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
Religion / The Christian Creation Story. Why Its An Old Wives Tale by jaephoenix(m): 10:20am
The Bible is a book adored by Christians. It has been found to contain a lot of errors, lies and contradictions and thus not a reliable book. I made a thread about it here, in case ya'll wanna check it out and debate on the points there. Unfortunately for Christians, the gaffess were so many, and they could not come up with any defenses.
But in this thread, I'm gonna concentrate on the creation story, cos a Christian challenged me to(Just like another christian challenged me to open a thread about the bible errors and in the end he never gave any defenses). The errors are so much that I have to take them in parts. So this is only Part 1

What are the factual errors in the Genesis creation account?
There are several errors, since it’s a creation myth based on the knowledge, superstitions and misconceptions of the people who wrote it, just like any other creation myth. Let’s consider just some of them:

1. Duration time for the creation. This is the first considerable problem. Genesis says that, from the early stages of the earth’s formation to the dawn of man, only six days passed, which is obviously wrong. We know this whole process took about 4 billion years. Many apologists try to solve this crude mistake by declaring that the word “day” has a more vague meaning, such as six general divisions of time. We don’t know this, however, and the whole context of the story seems closer to 24 hour days (for example, we constantly read “And the evening and the morning were the first day.”).

2. The order of creation days. The order in which the creation events happened in the bible and the true geological and biological evolution of the earth are completely different. Some examples follow:

a. In Genesis 1:7 it says God divided the waters above and under the firmament. The only logical way to interpret this “firmament” or “heavens”, is the atmosphere, where water in vapour form is stored and eventually falls as rain. If this was done in a subsequent stage of the earth’s formation (day two), we would expect that the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere should increase over time. We however know that the exact opposite happened, as carbon dioxide and water vapour were partly replaced by oxygen.

b. In Genesis 1:11 it suggests that plants were the first form of life to appear, what is obviously wrong. It also suggests that plants and animals appeared in different times, what we know not to be true. Last, if compared to Genesis 1:16–18, it indicates that plants came before the sun, which would be impossible since sunlight is a fundamental ingredient to the process of photosynthesis, which is how plants produce their food.

c. In Genesis 1:16–18, as discussed before, the sun comes only after the plants appeared on the planet, which is obviously absurd. Some apologists try to save this by alleging that the sun already existed but wasn’t visible until the fourth day, since the earth’s atmosphere was thicker. First of all, the atmosphere was already transparent enough to see the sun when the first plants appeared in the planet. Moreover, the organisms from which plants evolved had already “invented” the process of photosynthesis and hence needed a substantial amount of sunlight. Finally, there are several studies who show how a plant’s growth is deeply affected by an increased period of cloudy days, and so it’s absurd to suppose that big trees and others could have appeared in a time of thick atmosphere, where the portion of light entering the planet was so weak that the sun wasn’t even visible.

d. Genesis 1:20 and 24 suggests that flying animals came before land animals, which is just wrong due to the fossil and DNA knowledge we have.

3. Magical elements. Some apologists argue that the creation myth in Genesis has a special status, since it’s much more “sober” in terms of reality than the creation myths of other religions. First of all, what matters is the truth. To construct a fable with elements closer to reality doesn’t change the fact that it is a fable. Secondly, the fact that the Genesis account seems less mesmerizing than others is just because the israelites followed monotheism (or at least monolatrism), and hence their creation story was devoid of the many struggles between gods that commonly take place at the beginning of other myths. Finally, it’s important to remember that there are many magical elements surrounding the Genesis story: the book of Revelations talks about a war in heaven between a dragon and his hosts and an angel and his hosts; Genesis itself, just a few pages afterwards, talks about talking serpents, magic fruits and a universal flood that occured just because God was in a bad mood with humanity
