Hey, my application was put under review required three weeks ago. I found out after contacting IRCC. I requested my GCMS notes and received them yesterday.

The case analyst made several mistakes on my application.

1. The marriage date is indeed July 16, as stated on the statutory marriage certificate on file. She even confirmed the document is included.


2. My Canadian work experience letter clearly states 33 hours per week from the start, but the officer noted 20 hours per week. Also, officers are not authorized to determine employment requirements for non-professional or skilled trade positions.


3. I believe the foreign work experience has already been accepted.



Do you think it’s okay to submit a webform before the senior officer makes a final decision to point out these mistakes? In another note, she confirmed 1,647 hours from the paystubs, acknowledged up to August, but disregarded November, December, and January to April–July, which totals 1 year and 7 months.


I believe the contested points is 90 points.

40 for 1 year cec
50 ( bonus point for skill transferability when you have both cec and foreign work experience).

Kindly note that the 3 pages are the officers note as it appeared on the page gcms notes received.

How true is that? Are you really saying someone can be hired as a Mental Health Support Worker (NOC 42201) without the required education and the officer can’t question it? Especially now, when so many people are buying or faking jobs just to claim Canadian work experience?

Yes, exactly in some cases, there can even be up to 11 people, as some turn the living room into extra sleeping space or divide it into two extra sleeping spaces.

You can find cheaper rent in Brampton , just be prepared to share a room with 2–3 Indian students. You can get a basement bedspace for around $350 to 500 CAD per month. It’s a good idea to bring some insecticide from Nigeria, as bedbugs can sometimes be a problem in those house. Still, it’s one of the most affordable. options.

Sorry to disappoint you, but your agent is clearly lying. You’ve most likely already gotten a response from IRCC either a refusal or even a ban and the agent just isn’t telling you. I’m very sure your file has been decided. Go and face your agent, don’t let them keep deceiving you.

The answer is still no, because the invitation letter only states that he will provide accommodation, food, and transportation. You still need to show that you have enough funds to support yourself, as the visa officer’s main focus is on you, not the person inviting you. Officers are now very strict, so make sure to package your application properly.

₦10 million is enough for a 7-day visit to Canada, but visa approval depends on your overall ties not just the money in your account. You must show strong connections to Nigeria such as a stable job, family responsibilities, or property ownership, along with a clear reason to return after your trip.
IRCC usually requires a recent 6-month bank statement with consistent transactions (no sudden large deposits). Unfortunately, because of the rise in asylum claims, genuine travellers are now facing stricter scrutiny, and even solid applications can sometimes be refused.

No, choose “No” for “Use of Representative” you’re just helping, not acting as an agent.
Yes, your bank statement is fine as proof of funds; just include a short support letter stating you’ll cover her expenses. However, with no previous travel history and her current profile , the chances of visa approval are quite low, as Canada has recently tightened visitor visa policies.

I decided to go for reconsideration request, I wrote a comprehensive letter and pointed out where I think they where an oversight because the reason for refusal especially about funds where wrong because I had more than enough and showed many proof.
Anyway here is the reply I got from the Canadian embassy,

A company can’t sponsor you for a private visit , it doesn’t make logical sense when it not a business trip . If you don’t have enough funds in your own account, it shows you may not be able to afford the trip since it’s for holiday and private visit.
It’s better to improve your personal finances and show stronger home ties before reapplying, especially since you already have strong ties to Canada and they may fear you won’t return especially in a situation ur mother arrived canada illegally via usa to claim asylum in canada as stated on ur previous post ur chance of gettjng visa aprroved is extemely tiny with ur current profile..

IRCC only asks for a reference letter, so don’t complicate your application by submitting extra documents they didn’t request.
Keep your cash certificates aside until they specifically ask for them if ever.
Many applicants have successfully received PR approval with just their reference letters alone.

If am a visa officer and l see a cash cert not payslip attached to ur reference letter when not ask then l will send ADR for more evidence of ur work experience as ur action look suspucious especially if it nurse aide or pharmacy asistant noc becos this major occupation that suddenly most applicant claiming cash payment .

Can the applicant retract the withdrawal request before the withdrawal/cancellation sent through webform is confirmed?

Sending a webform to withdraw isn’t final , IRCC must first confirm it.
You can still retract the request before they act on it.Send another webform right away stating you don’t want to withdraw and include your application number for clarity.

Please does any know or can confirm if IRCC/Canada Express Entry Program currently accepts the One Skill Retake IELTS.

The situation is, IELTS was done and it came out as follows: L:8.5 R: 7 W: 6 and S:7.5, I want to apply to rewrite only just one skill/module which is the the writting which was low (6)

It’s even stricter now. Border officers and airline staff check visa validity before boarding , even at transit points. Airlines will not allow her to board if her return ticket is dated beyond January 6, since her visa expires that day. Everything is changing fast, and those who have travelled recently to canada can confirm that checks at transit points are very strict. If anything is unclear or doesn’t match the information on the visa, they can cancel the visa on the spot and send the passenger back to Nigeria.

This is a thread for Nigerians to discuss the reality and their experience of living in Canada not one to endlessly moan, debase ourselves or hate on a group we think are responsible for our individual struggles. If you're frustrated about IRCCs goalposts, then obsession with a group will not help. No country is without it's challenges.

I've always wondered why many posts on this thread bother on a far-right, anti-immigrant sentiment. Folks calling themselves 'third world', hating on other brown folks and constantly berating the country they live in etc. Reminds me of the recent Mehdi Hassan interview with far-right folks where a Latino dude got an awakening.

There's little in terms of substance on the actual reality of living in Canada here. I initially thought the Nigerian community in Canada is relatively not as robust but thats hardly the case. Carney's strategy is clear. Buy time. Canada is 1/10 the size of the US. Obviously the US has an advantage. 85% of trade is protected under CUSMA. There's still tariffs under steel and Aluminum. The other items are tarrfied at a lower percentage in comparison to other countries. Canada has one of the best, if not the best trade deal, with the US, the world's biggest market. That's a fact.

In the meantime other markets are being explored and traded with. Provinces are now united, creating free trade among provinces. Carney has formed military alliance with other European countries and unions, as the US is not as reliable anymore. And so forth. Carney is working behind the scene to diversify different Canadian sectors, mainly trade though. Immigration has been drastically reduced, making it more difficult to even migrate to Canada. I don't know where you're getting the Immigration angle from.

Can someone please help me out with details on how you compress so much documents to 2mb. After all my compression, i still have almost 6mb. when i further compress, it is becoming almost unreadable. Also, how do you add photos? do you lay several of them on word/pdf, or add them one after the other in the list of attached documents? It also looks to me like ircc did not read my sisters LOE. is there a way we can make ircc see it better or do you think some officers just overlook those things? Would be glad to get your response. Attach only the key very required documents, and put any extra evidence in Client Information with a short LOE.

The situation is ; Applied before current permit expiration. So implied status is automatic and you only have to keep doing what doing and wait ?

You can apply for a visitor visa for more time to sort yourself out. It would have been better to do the application before being out of status, but you can try. That's the option available for now.

But if you have an application for renewal still in process and the current one has expired, you should be on implied status until the decision is made.

The main question is whether the applicant even qualifies for a work permit extension before relying on implied status. Also, note that you cannot apply for a visitor visa from inside Canada only a visitor record. A visitor record allows you to stay longer in Canada, but it does not grant you the right to work, nor does it allow you to travel and re-enter Canada since it is not a travel visa.

My wife got her COPR last year and we got married this year. She’s yet to land and now trying to add me to her COPR.

Anyone knows how long this takes and if there’s anyway to expedite?

P.S. A web form was raised to provide the requisite documents (i.e. forms, marriage cert, police report etc) to prove legitimacy of marriage. This was acknowledged and a call was put through some weeks after to follow up. IRCC agent we spoke to confirmed receipt, opened the application manually as it’s luckily being processed in CA and assured it’s being worked on.

Since it marriage before landing after COPR issued , IRCC will cancel her old COPR and re-assess the application to include you, which requires your medical and background checks before issuing a new COPR for both of you. The timeline is not fixed and usually takes a few months to a year, and there is no official way to expedite the process.

I applied for a students study permit(Canada) through an agency who issued a backdated bank statement from a commercial bank.
I have gone for my biometrics since early July 2025.
I have been waiting for response from the embassy only for me to have a feedback that the account statement i submitted was fraudulent which will attract 5 years ban,hence I was given 7 days to make an explanation to it which will elapse on Wednesday being 27th.

They stated clearly that if I keep mute,a free the 7 days , they will take a decision based on the documents I submitted.

Please, what do I do at this point? I am devastated at this point.

You put yourself in this mess by submitting a fake bank statement. IRCC takes misrepresentation very seriously, and you’ve basically handed them grounds for a 5-year ban. There is no excuse , ignorance or blaming the agent won’t save you because you are responsible for every document in your application. At this point, nothing can be done . the bank statement is fake, and you will get the 5-year ban.

Ideally, VO will only be able to access the period specified on your bank statement submitted. However, if the VO feels a need for further verifications, he might decide to ask you for another bank statement. You never can tell. So, you may probably rely on your instincts here.

Visa officers are smarter now and can request a new bank statement even after you’ve submitted your application. They’re already doing this for student applicants.

That means you don’t have the required proof of funds, so you borrow money just to deceive the visa officer and now you’re openly discussing your fraud in a public forum. Later you complain that Canada didn’t issue visas, when in fact it’s our own dishonesty and desperation that are at their peak
Moreover, visitor visas don’t depend heavily on showing a large amount of money in your account
