What I meant was that you’ve not provided your full timeline information. I.e. whether your application is a new one or a re-application, and the month your school is expected to resume.

Response time really depends on a variety of factors ranging from how much application CIC is handling at the point of your submission to whether or not you submitted all the information needed to assess your eligibility, or how clear your documents are, or how long your background checks would take, etc. In summary, it’s a holistic process that depends on every aspect of one’s application as opposed to one specific reason.

It has often been debated here whether or not paper is faster than online and vise verse. I personally believe an online application is faster - especially since that’s even what is on the CIC website. If someone who applied via paper gets feedback before someone who applied via online, that does not mean that paper route is faster than online route. It may be because there was something in the online persons application that caused the delay. Maybe the online person has relatives living in Canada that they had to do additional background checks for... Something along these lines.

Your second question is not clear.

On GCMS, I don’t know the meaning. Try googling it...

For your other questions on implication, it has been recently answered on this thread. You can read a couple of threads back to get more perspective...

I hope this information helps.

Obehi44:

I don't really know how to give the details you are asking for, can you please help with a format for proper presentation?

I will like to also know if the kind of program(Masters, postgraduate etc) makes the response time different.
2. Since we have pple from other countries, is the response time same as with that of Nigeria?
Finally, please what is the full meaning of Gcms and what is the implications or advantage and disadvantages when someone request for it.
Thanks guys...

No.

The regular work permit is the normal 20hr per week work permit that holders of study permits are entitled to.

For a co-op work permit, that’s like a real work permit. In this case, there’s probably a mandatory 3/4 month internship posting that is part of your program or something along this line. Then you’d have apply for a co-op permit by indicating that work is a mandatory requirement on your study and you’ll be given an actual work permit.

dubajek:
please co-op permit is it same as work permit while studying?

Hi,

This would boil down to the kind of program you’re considering. I believe you’d stand a solid chance going for post-experience programs such as MBA degrees. That way, you’re able to show reasonable academic and career progression. I have a couple of 30+ year old friends that have successfully gone to Canada for their MBA programs in business schools like Ivey business school, Desautels Faculty of management, Rotman school of business and Schulich school of business - these are the top business schools in Canada. They are not cheap.

On the flip side, if you’re considering pre-experience programs or worst still diplomas or post graduate courses, it would be difficult for you to prove to VO’s that you’re a genuine student because it doesn’t sound logical for a 30+ year old with banking experience to go for a diploma/pre-experience program. In this case, one would likely see “purpose of visit” as he reason for denial.

I am 34 year Old banker. With my chances of Express entry slim, what options do I have via the study route?

TRV UPDATE for the week ending May 26th

This week featured quite a number of updates - especially among 2018 applicants. Processing time remained at 9 weeks.

I would encourage those viewing the thread but have not submitted their timeline to please do, as it would help us make logical guesstimates on CIC processing time. Complete information is still needed from Dolapok, Seatea, Oni2019, Promise147, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Teejay30628, Klem28, Boe19, Ancy 26, Omarzx, Hiambenson, Wealthmiq, Teslimot01, Obehi44, Vickglam, Pelumi12, Nochyks87, Harveygordon, Bdemix, Alexkrueger, Emeritus00, Chinonye94, Atamanekpen, Deane, Okoriekwe, and Opana1).

Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better.

No.
Ordering your GCMS note has no effect on your application.

Anamekele:

Can ordering for gcms note stop one from getting an update from CIC?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by sillysassysally(f): 11:01pm On May 25, 2019
As people have advised, you should order your GCMS note to know the cause of delay but based on the timeline, you could get an update before the 12th week.

You can check their website. The number is there. I don’t know if posting numbers goes against the many rules of the thread lol. Let me know if you ever found it

OptimusPrime21:

For the 1st bolded, it was saying that from the 16th of May to 21st May evening... I have done all that, ensured the numbers are correct...but I haven't called the customer care line cos I don't have it....

But I thought there was a time you said it was showing “being processed in Canada visa office”?

If it’s still showing no record found, here are a couple of things you could do;
1. Ensure you’re typing the tracking number correctly. You ought to type everything CALAPPT0509xxxx as it applies to you.
2. Ensure you’re typing your DOB correctly. The most common mistake people make is that they mistype their year of birth as the current year. I.e. instead of writing 1997, for example, they write 2019
3. Try calling customer care. They’ll track it from their own end. You could also complain about the error you're receiving and get further guidance from them
4. If none of the above works, then you can just go to vfs office for collection after 15 working days from the date you submitted, since they said it takes 5 - 15 working days to stamp.

Let me know how it goes.
All the best!

OptimusPrime21:

My own tracking number still says no records found...

Hello house I am new here. I have been having sleepless nights so I started doing research.
Please can someone give me an insight on why I am yet to get a response from the Canadian people? I applied for a Canada study visa since end of March 2019, this is the 9th week and no response. Someone please help

Hi dear,
Yes I finally got my passport back.
I submitted it on the 9th of May and it was ready for collection on the 17th of May. Effectively, it took 6 working days after submission.

I’d advise you not to wait for any mail from them stating when you should come pick up your passport. Instead, use the tracking number that they’ll give you to keep tabs on the progress. Also, start looking out for flights and if possible, book well ahead as prices are beginning to inch higher. Skyscanner is a good place to find cheap deals.

I wish you the best best!
Mudicua:
Thank you Sally.

Have you gotten your passport? How long did it eventually take?

ralfudoh:
I said to myself: I must testify before the end of this part
First application
Feb 24th 2016.
Refused 4th march 2016.
Reasons : Purpose of visit and home ties.

2nd application
June 21st 2018
Biometrics 22nd June 2018.
I was in Lagos for a friends wedding, decided to do medicals on 25th August 2018. Sent to CIC and my online profile was updated to passed on 29th August, same day, eligibility review started.
On May 14th 2019, I was asked to submit an updated admission letter because my resumption date had passed. I called my school and after 10mins, letter dropped, I forwarded to CIC. 24th May 2019, Original passport request dropped. Application approved.
My application took almost a year. I sent over 1000 mails (not exaggerating) regarding my application. I was sending 5mails to Lagos office and 5 to London every morning and evening. I mailed 121 MP's in Ontario province where my school is located, twice. I mailed the prime ministers office and the immigration ministers office, they responded after the third round of mails, and asked for more information which I furnished them with and I was told I will hear from them before 24th May 2019.
And on the 24th of May, 2019, my application was approved and I was asked to submit my passport for stamping. As if Gods favor is not enough for me. While I went to submit my passport after 15mins of getting PPR, I walked into VFS and did the process, got my number, the whole place was so crowded (1st time am seeing VFS Abuja so crowded), I sat down, removed the passport request letter and was reading it again to be sure if am not dreaming. Guess what guys, the manager of VFS walked out of his office, walked past me and came back and asked if am here to submit my passport and I said yes, he called me, when behind the counter, collected my passport and signed on the letter, put it in the VFS bag and that was how I was attended to. The entire VFS Abuja were surprised to see a June 21st 2018 applicant. They checked twice to be sure. I can't thank Jehovah for his infinite Grace towards me. He is the Almighty and supreme being.

Docs submitted
All IMM forms
Personal bank statement of over 11million and cash flow of 24million.
Share certificate of shares with Mobil.

Study leave letter from current employer and from co owned company.
Over 17 professional certifications (from CCNA to CCNA SECUIRTY to CCNP to OCA to PMP to Web design to Ethical Hacking.)
Am going for Embedded Systems Development.

Highlights of my application:

I didn't pay a dime of my tuition. I have a virgin passport. I am single. A college applicant. Submitted a one page well detailed SOP.

Special mentions @makano (Mr Ginger)
Sleekysoft, 042viber(soft boy), Hunkerbert (A.K.A coded) Austacus. The list is endless. Thank you everyone. I wish all TRV hopefuls to adopt the NEVER GIVE UP mentality like Liverpool did against Barca. If u watch football, you will understand better.

I think your letter of employment should suffice. Especially since you’re supplementing it with your ID card and salary statement of account which shows that you’re currently working there. You’re good to go!
But, are you sure HR would not now go and meet your line supervisors to gossip that you came to ask them a letter of intro?

P.S. I have experience in the financial services industry but I don’t work in a bank.

sashaa:
Congrats to all those who recently got their approvals. God has indeed been faithful. Thanks also to all the gurus that have helped make that happen.

For proof of employment, is it okay if i don't include an introduction letter? I was asked by HR to provide the concurrence of my line supervisors and group head before they can issue it and i honestly don't want an exposure like that. I want to just use my employment letter, staff id and last promotion letter. Ofcourse i will also be submitting my salary account.

PS: Please is there anyone here with banking experience currently applying or with approval already. I will like to connect.

Are you a reformed Christian?

TWoods:

When I have more time I hope to respond to you. It seems to me that your understanding of Christianity is terribly flawed. Like many here, you’ve created to yourselves a “god” in your own image... one who blesses fraud and looks away when you bend the rules... while of course claiming to reverence him.

Dear Teejay30628,

I am so sorry to hear about the outcome of your application. Please do not lose hope!
Can you kindly share more perspective on your application?
1. What were the reasons for denial?
2. What's your profile like? (Age, Academic History, Working experience (if any), and your Intended program
3 What documents you submitted

This information would help people form a logical conclusion on what might have been an area of contention for the VO's and whether or not the documents you submitted addressed the issues.
