What I meant was that you’ve not provided your full timeline information. I.e. whether your application is a new one or a re-application, and the month your school is expected to resume. Response time really depends on a variety of factors ranging from how much application CIC is handling at the point of your submission to whether or not you submitted all the information needed to assess your eligibility, or how clear your documents are, or how long your background checks would take, etc. In summary, it’s a holistic process that depends on every aspect of one’s application as opposed to one specific reason. It has often been debated here whether or not paper is faster than online and vise verse. I personally believe an online application is faster - especially since that’s even what is on the CIC website. If someone who applied via paper gets feedback before someone who applied via online, that does not mean that paper route is faster than online route. It may be because there was something in the online persons application that caused the delay. Maybe the online person has relatives living in Canada that they had to do additional background checks for... Something along these lines. Your second question is not clear. On GCMS, I don’t know the meaning. Try googling it... For your other questions on implication, it has been recently answered on this thread. You can read a couple of threads back to get more perspective... I hope this information helps. Obehi44: 1 Like |

No. The regular work permit is the normal 20hr per week work permit that holders of study permits are entitled to. For a co-op work permit, that’s like a real work permit. In this case, there’s probably a mandatory 3/4 month internship posting that is part of your program or something along this line. Then you’d have apply for a co-op permit by indicating that work is a mandatory requirement on your study and you’ll be given an actual work permit. dubajek: 1 Like |

Hi, This would boil down to the kind of program you’re considering. I believe you’d stand a solid chance going for post-experience programs such as MBA degrees. That way, you’re able to show reasonable academic and career progression. I have a couple of 30+ year old friends that have successfully gone to Canada for their MBA programs in business schools like Ivey business school, Desautels Faculty of management, Rotman school of business and Schulich school of business - these are the top business schools in Canada. They are not cheap. On the flip side, if you’re considering pre-experience programs or worst still diplomas or post graduate courses, it would be difficult for you to prove to VO’s that you’re a genuine student because it doesn’t sound logical for a 30+ year old with banking experience to go for a diploma/pre-experience program. In this case, one would likely see “purpose of visit” as he reason for denial. Smile4mee01: |

TRV UPDATE for the week ending May 26th This week featured quite a number of updates - especially among 2018 applicants. Processing time remained at 9 weeks. I would encourage those viewing the thread but have not submitted their timeline to please do, as it would help us make logical guesstimates on CIC processing time. Complete information is still needed from Dolapok, Seatea, Oni2019, Promise147, docsaj, Cutieflaky, Teejay30628, Klem28, Boe19, Ancy 26, Omarzx, Hiambenson, Wealthmiq, Teslimot01, Obehi44, Vickglam, Pelumi12, Nochyks87, Harveygordon, Bdemix, Alexkrueger, Emeritus00, Chinonye94, Atamanekpen, Deane, Okoriekwe, and Opana1). Finally, if you guys have any ideas on how we can present this information better or what else we can add to it or remove from it, I am always open any adjustment that'll make this better. 7 Likes

No. Ordering your GCMS note has no effect on your application. Anamekele: |

As people have advised, you should order your GCMS note to know the cause of delay but based on the timeline, you could get an update before the 12th week. Obehi44: 1 Like |

But I thought there was a time you said it was showing “being processed in Canada visa office”? If it’s still showing no record found, here are a couple of things you could do; 1. Ensure you’re typing the tracking number correctly. You ought to type everything CALAPPT0509xxxx as it applies to you. 2. Ensure you’re typing your DOB correctly. The most common mistake people make is that they mistype their year of birth as the current year. I.e. instead of writing 1997, for example, they write 2019 3. Try calling customer care. They’ll track it from their own end. You could also complain about the error you're receiving and get further guidance from them 4. If none of the above works, then you can just go to vfs office for collection after 15 working days from the date you submitted, since they said it takes 5 - 15 working days to stamp. Let me know how it goes. All the best! OptimusPrime21: 3 Likes |

I totally understand how you are feeling! Intact, i checked my portal at least three times per day after I submitted. I get the tension. When does your school resume? Obehi44: |

Hi dear, Yes I finally got my passport back. I submitted it on the 9th of May and it was ready for collection on the 17th of May. Effectively, it took 6 working days after submission. I’d advise you not to wait for any mail from them stating when you should come pick up your passport. Instead, use the tracking number that they’ll give you to keep tabs on the progress. Also, start looking out for flights and if possible, book well ahead as prices are beginning to inch higher. Skyscanner is a good place to find cheap deals. I wish you the best best! Thanks for sharing your timeline. I’ll add it to the list. I pray for success in your new study permit application. Amen! I have two follow-up questions based on the documents you’re submitting - I hope you don’t mind me asking; 1. The joint account you and your fiancé have, is it the same account that you’re using as your SOA with 5m inflow? 2. How have you addressed the reasons for denial in your first application? Ancy12: |

I think your letter of employment should suffice. Especially since you’re supplementing it with your ID card and salary statement of account which shows that you’re currently working there. You’re good to go! But, are you sure HR would not now go and meet your line supervisors to gossip that you came to ask them a letter of intro? P.S. I have experience in the financial services industry but I don’t work in a bank. sashaa: |

I think you're too worried. It just means your passport has been sent to the respective visa office for stamping... It was the same thing i saw when i tracked mine until i got the update to come pick it up... There's nothing to be worried about. OptimusPrime21: |

Dear Teejay30628, I am so sorry to hear about the outcome of your application. Please do not lose hope! Can you kindly share more perspective on your application? 1. What were the reasons for denial? 2. What's your profile like? (Age, Academic History, Working experience (if any), and your Intended program 3 What documents you submitted This information would help people form a logical conclusion on what might have been an area of contention for the VO's and whether or not the documents you submitted addressed the issues. I am so sorry to hear about the outcome of your study permit application. Can you share more details about your application? 1. Age 2. Academic History (What you studied and the year you graduated) 3. Working experience 4. Intended program (school and course) Then you can go ahead to share a comprehensive summary of the documents that you submitted with respect to your application and i believe this would give people more perspective to your application. Do not lose hope. With God, all things are possible! Wishing you the very best! nochyks87: |
