We are using "delayed" as opposed to "denied" because we believe that the application has only been tempoarily delayed and that the next try would be successful. hardeholar1: 4 Likes |

TRV processing time update 09/04/2019 We now have a sample of 34 hopefuls! I would encourage those that have applied this year to share their timeline (with details such as; Application Route, whether you're a new or re-applicant, School Resumption Date, Application Date, Biometrics Request Date, Biometrics Done Date, Medical Request, Medicals Done, Medicals Passed, PPR or the Current Status of your application). If you don't have all this information, you can just share the ones that you have and update the rest as you receive it. This information would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how CIC operates. (Please note that the calculated estimates are just averages based on the little sample we have. Your processing time may be faster or slower than the average) For those that have already submitted their timeline, kindly share if you are a new applicant or a re-applicant. Also, please share when you are expected to resume school. This would help us understand if there is a relationship between processing time and resumption date. (Cc Dedecoder, Godatwork23, Dolapok, Oni2019, docsaj, Klem28, Ancy 26, Trishaben, Omarzx, ify85, umulobi, Iykedpetes) Finally, If there is anything you think i should add to the data or calculate from the data or if there is a better way you think I can present the data, I am always open to suggestions. 5 Likes

I can't seem to understand why you always feel the need to reply to a post when you don't have any value to add. I made a comment about two people that went to "non-top schools" and got jobs in some of the best companies in the world. Where did "business roles" enter this conversation? Did i mention that someone was looking for an investment banking job in Goldman Sachs and got a corporate finance job in google? or did i mention that these people had specific roles in mind Did i even mention that recruiting for business roles is all about the brand names of companies Stop talking off-point! You've said it yourself "na by having the right roles that can give you a very good progression to your end goal" Everyone knows what "right roles" means to them. For some it may be commercial banking... For some, investment banking... For some, strategy consulting, while some others want corporate strategy... The fact that someone does an MS in finance does not mean they muct end up in investment banking. Stop going off point. The message still remains that a top school goes not "guarantee" success in life - There is still that luck element that is beyond our control. Do me a favour, stick to your word and ignore this reply. Stop constituting yourself into a nairaland nuisance . P.S. You are becoming a toxic character on this thread bracelum: 15 Likes |

I have come to realize that success in life = hard work + the divinity element (luck or whatever you choose to call it) Some people work their asses off, get into top schools and then struggle to get jobs upon graduation. It doesn't necessarily mean that they weren't "good" enough or they didn't work "hard" enough. It may be because they just weren't "lucky". My brother went to a university in the US with 97% acceptance rate for his MBA. He later got a job with Google upon graduation in 2015. He then moved to Tesla in 2018. I have another very close friend that went for her MS in a university with 73% acceptance rate in Tennessee, she got a job with FedEx upon graduation. This is not to say that people should automatically expect excellent outcomes by just going to "anyhow schools" and hoping for fantastic outcomes as someone who went to Harvard... NO!... I believe it goes to show that "luck" also matters. There is no one set path to success. Not everyone can go to Havard. Not everyone wants to work in top tech and finance jobs. Some people just want simple lives and this doesn't mean they're being complacent. Everyone's dream is valid. That being said... Success depends on hard work - which is the surest currency. Hard work has never not paid. People should work hard and follow the best route that would lead them to their dreams. For someone, it may mean going to MIT for an MS in Finance to land a job in Goldman Sachs. For someone else, it may mean going to Brandeis University for an MS in accounting to kickstart a career as a Hedgefund accountant. P.S. Hard work is not looking for the easy way out of things. That is laziness and I don't subscribe to (in fact I hate) that. People should look for the best way they can achieve their dreams and go for it with everything! ...Then there is the "luck" element. This is not predictable. You can't always expect to be lucky and you definitely shouldn't bank on it. Just do your very best with the hope that luck shines on you. LagosismyHome: 15 Likes |

I want to actually thank you for taking out the time and pain to type all of this out to give us perspective on what you did. I also want to thank you for showing commitment to helping people out with their queries. Also, congratulations on receiving your study permit! I wish you a successful academic year ahead. I have two questions for you 1. You mentioned that you were able to merge some family pictures with your CIC IMM form. I didn't know that was possible as i thought the CIC forms had some added technicality to them with the whole adobe flash thing and what not... How did you merge the files? smallpdf? 2. Under what section of your application did you attach your upfront medicals? ILoveDLord: 1 Like |

Interesting... It speaks to the dangers of a single story - as Chimamanda would say. However, it still stands true that job hunting in the US isn't beans. With that said, I'm finding it hard to see the wrong thing in what he did that'll make recruiters avoid hiring him. Whistleblowing is ethical and many companies even encourage this. What do you think? jamanuka: 1 Like |

Hey bracelum, I'm not seeing your point. 1. I do not understand how you came to the conclusion that I am "anxious" and "justifying complacency". My message was for prospective students to "Make sure they have a strategy" so i do not understand where "anxiety" and "complacency" come from. 2. Average compensation of >$200K after degree does not change the fact that one would have to work their ass off to land a job 3. No one said anything about using a U.S. MBA in the Canadian labor market. The point I was trying to make was to highlight the option of using an "unconventional" route to getting a US MBA. A candidate may choose to immigrate to Canada, and then go do their MBA in the US for whatever it is that they want to use the degree for. It gives them a $$ advantage compared to an applicant from Nigeria where monthly take-home is $500 - $1,000. They also have more opportunities open to them because if the US job market fails them, they could always go back to Canada. bracelum: 4 Likes |
