Politics / Tackling Trade Barriers Along The Lakaji Corridor by sirzent(m): 7:30pm On Feb 08, 2021
With low oil prices for the foreseeable future, Nigeria has begun to diversify its interests, placing greater emphasis on the development of industries that drive self-sufficiency. Nigeria’s population is expected to balloon — from the current population of 180 million to over 300 million by 2050 (eclipsing the United States and becoming the world’s 3rd most populous country).

As such, the agricultural sector is a key component to Nigeria’s plan for self-sufficiency. The government has taken aggressive steps to promote growth in the industry through initiatives such as the Agricultural Transformation Action Plan (ATAP) which offers incentives to agropreneurs across the value chain. Companies in the private sector, such as Releaf, are also taking steps to empower agropreneurs with the resources and information they need to operate more efficiently.
Although Nigeria is currently known for its oil output, it used to be a major agricultural producer. When Nigeria first gained independence in 1960, the country was not only meeting domestic demand, but exporting numerous agricultural commodities. At their peak, Nigeria produced up to 42% of the world’s groundnut oil, 27% of palm oil, and 18% of cocoa. They also produced and exported large quantities of rubber and cotton. Nigeria’s self-sufficiency back in 1960 is a stark contrast to the conditions today, where the country currently imports almost $8 billion worth of wheat, sugar, rice, and fish a year.
As the population size continues to grow rapidly and dietary preferences change to include more proteins and grains, the threat to food security becomes more of a reality with each passing day. The key to solving this looming problem may lie along Nigeria’s largest agricultural trade corridor: Lakaji.

Politics / A Massacre Without Dead Bodies by sirzent(m): 9:42am On Oct 24, 2020
The misapplication of media power for the mass distribution of content, enabled by the pervasive nature of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) via the world wide web, has manifested in Nigeria during the so-called EndSars protest.

And Nigeria is not the first country in the world to fall victim to such abuse of the Internet-based capacity to mass-circulate all manner of rubbish, some of it laughable, many of it useless while a portion, which is very dangerous and extremely harmful. So-called citizen’s journalism has ruined relationships, led to bloody conflicts and hatred around the world.

The most recent example of the negative effect of the spread of fake news and incidiary media contents happened in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous and richest country by GDP and massive natural resources.
It all started when the organisers of the EndSars campaign used the social media to mobilise participants, deceptively riding on the genuine grievances associated with the recently-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and mixing it with other agendas.

The organisers and their foreign and local backers played on the country’s faultlines to instigate an orgy of killings, arsons, looting and freeing dangerous convicts from correctional centres in some states of the federation. The tactics they deployed in their mobilisation were deceptive, unethical and dangerous to the extent of openly calling for the murder of security personnel and the destruction of public infrastructure. They took hate speech to a new level of irresponsibility.

This irresponsible tactic emboldened mobs to engage in the killing of a few policemen on sight, the destruction of public and private property in Lagos and elsewhere, the looting of goods in commercial warehouses, and spreading the fake news of the decade by falsely telling the world that the Nigerian security forces have massacred an unknown number of protestors at a toll gate in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

It is on the basis of that fake news, the story of a massacre without dead bodies, because it never happened, that leaders of multilateral bodies, including that of the United Nations, the Governments of the USA, the United Kingdom and others, rushed to comment, make judgement and pronouncement on a massacre that never was. They thus judged wrongly, commented undiplomatically and exposed the weaknesses of their diplomats, especially their security attaches, who could not, or willfully failed to, verify claims in a foggy situation so that they can advise their home governments accurately. Thus, their governments can now be seeing to be believers of massacres without dead bodies even though the massacres never happened.

The incidence of a massacre without dead bodies, or the list and identities of those allegedly murdered by soldiers at a toll gate in Lagos, has equally exposed the degeneration in the quality and worthiness of hitherto powerful and influencial broadcast stations like the BBC, VOA, Aljazeera and a host of other international news agencies as mere hollow outfits that cannot testify to the accuracy and reliability of their own content. This is serious, bad and sad for the tax payers whose money is funnelled to finance the operations of especially the governmen-owned outlets.

The reportage, particularly of the television stations, largely relied on visuals created and supplied to their reporters by the protestors or rioters. Even at this, they could not produce any video clip, even if only the fabricated type, to support their claim of “many civilian protestors were killed at the Lekki Toll Gate.” As a former staff of the BBC World Service in London, I feel tremendously disappointed that the BBC cannot verify stories of the importance of an alleged massacre before dishing it out to the global audiences that held news out of its newsrooms as truthful, reliable and quotable.

As for Aljazeera, the Doha-based International Television broadcaster, I feel it should bury itself in disgraceful shame in desert sand dunes for the falsehood it sold to the world, of a massacre that never was. Its total reliance for video clips and interviews with the errand boys and girls of the protestors exposed the incompetence of their reporters.

Perhaps investigating all the Nigeria-based reporters of all the foreign media outlets involved in filing fake news, may lead to a possible discovery that they were compromised by those behind the protests, riots and creators of the false story of a massacre without dead bodies. They most likely failed to say “no thanks,” the incorruptible standard set by a Nigerian news organisation.

Abayhormy:
Thank God DJ Switch has finally made a video about what happened that night. For those who didn't watch it, she mentioned two forces; the Nigerian army and the police force. The Nigerian army came first, and when they left, the police force (SARS) continued. Link below:

https://www.nairaland.com/6200424/lekki-toll-gate-dj-switch

So for those wondering, I hope you have your answers.

Now, in her statement, she said the SARS police came later. You know they are still disgruntled about their dissolution and took out their anger on the protesters. They've been killing before, it's not a new thing.

And...

They are silencing people from speaking the truth.

I found this out when someone made a post of one of the victims and how he was killed. When I got back to check the post, I didn't see it. I asked the lady, she said they told her to take it down.

Who are they?

Now, let's look at a time line of event since the Lekki Massacre:

Sanwo-Olu wrote;

"This is the toughest night of our lives as forces beyond our direct control have moved to make dark notes in our history, but we will face it and come out stronger." This was by 7:43 10/20/20.

Meanwhile the shooting continued until the next morning. Forces beyond our Governors control stopped him from directing the ones under his control to stop the shooting.

We also heard the military was looking for the survivors of the shooting to kill them off.

This was after Sanwo-Olu wrote,

"There are currently 10 patients at the Gen. Hospital, 11 at Reddington, and 4 at Vedic; with mild to moderate levels of injuries while 2 are receiving intensive medical care."

I believe he made this statement as a means of informing the military where the survivors are since making phone calls might leave trails when investigations begin.

Reno Omokri tweeted on 17th,

"I just got privilege information that there is division in the military about how to handle EndSARS protesters, with Burutai pushing for a Shiite scenario, similarly to the Zaria massacre."

This was on 17th October, 2020. The Lekki massacre happened 20th October, 2020 with the military and SARS hiding dead bodies so they can easily twist the story.

Do you know what these guys are doing?

They want to discredit the Lekki story and they are winning!

These people maimed the Nigerian Youths that went out to protest for a better life, they killed them, and threatened their family to keep quiet.

They are monsters!

[s][/s][quote author=Mikehot post=95076928]What does Egypt and Turkey have in common?

They are jihadist countries, they hate liberalism

On a lighter note, the Ottoman Empire would be revived by turkey in 2023 which makes 100 years since that Islamic Empire was last seen in 1923 (100 years marks the end of every treaty)

Notice that Ottoman Empire was never conquered, unlike (Babylon, Medo-persia, Greek, Roman in the Daniel statue).

Ottoman Empire was called the "sick man of Europe" as it only liquidated into a treaty with the west but wasn't conquered.

Turkey including the current president has always referred to that treaty as a bad deal to be challenged in 2023.

It is exactly the same beast which had a terrible wound but was cured of the wound in revelation.

Little wonder why the world marvelled at the beast and its wound that was healed.

Politics / Understanding Why Nigeria Closed Its Border by sirzent(m): 12:02pm On Oct 23, 2019
"Benin Republic has a population of 12 million people. But it is the worlds 5th importer of rice. In 2018, it imported rice worth US$996m.

Benin is also world's largest importer of used cars and second-hand clothing. All with a population of only 12 million people.

Do you wonder how? Don't!
98.2% of these imports into Benin are only on transit. Their final destination is Nigeria!

Nigeria is world's largest consumer of used cars and second-hand clothing, and is also Africa's largest consumer of Asian-grown rice.

The problem here is that all these imported goods attract appropriate import duty and trade tax, which are paid to the Beninoise Government while the goods are thence SMUGGLED into Nigeria WITHOUT ANY PAYMENT to the Nigerian Government, thereby, adding zero value to the Nigerian economy!

Sadly, THIS IS ALL DONE BY NIGERIANS!
Granted, ECOWAS/CEDEAO charter allows for free trade between member states, but on goods produced in member countries, and NOT on imports from other economic blocs.

Where foreign goods are transiting through a member country, and ending up in another member country, the ECOWAS charter stipulates that the country of transit MAY collect a token trade tax, and its Customs officials should then escort the goods to the border of the importing country and hand it over to the Customs officials of the importing country!

But what we see in the case of Benin Republic is that it collects CUSTOMS DUTY plus TRADE TAX, and then allows the goods to pass through its hinterland for onward smuggle into Nigeria!

This is a clear violation of ECOWAS statutes and no nation can condone such costly infraction.

Nigeria has tolerated this nonsense from Benin for far too long and it is time to stop the malpractice if we want Nigeria's economy to grow.

Therefore, whoever cries foul because we have closed our borders to smugglers while we're putting our act together, IS AN ENEMY OF NIGERIA!.

Nigeria makes up about 74% of ECOWAS population and about 71% of its economy. It is ECOWAS that needs Nigeria and not the other way round!

ANY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEMBER COUNTRIES MUST BE BASED ON EXTANT REGULATION."

#NEWS:
- Scores dies as farmers-herders clashed.
- Herdsmen attack villages in reprisal attack
- Farmland destroy as cattle grazed on crops
- Cattle rustlers arrested with over 100 cattle stolen from herders

#Citizens: Govt should stop this farmers-herders clashes.

#Govt: We are planning cattle colony which is a form of ranches where herders and their cattle will be housed putting an end to the age long clashes.

#Citizens: Never, we can't give out our land and Govt should not use public fund to finance such...

* Then, News broke again:
"Dozens dies as farmers-herders clashed over farmland"

#Citizen : Govt should do something to stop this senseless killings

#Govt:We are planning Grazing Reserves

#Citizen: Never, That is Islamization and Fulanization, we won't give our land...

#FG: Ok, We are planning to educate herders on modern trend in animal husbandry but because they usually move around and govt discovered they all have radios. Thus, govt will establish a dedicated radio station for that purpose through Nat'l Commission for Nomadic Education.

#Citizen Never!!! Why? This is Fulanization agenda.

#Govt: We are planning Animal or cattle-rearing settlement known as Ruga among Fulani so as to stop this madness.

#Citizens: Never, why should govt use taxpayer's money to build Ruga? Why should govt ask for our land? Cattle rearing is a private business and herders must buy land for ranches.

#Govt: OK, we will assist them to buy land...

#IPOB , #Afenifere, #OPC: Don't sell land to Fulani herdsmen, they will take over your land loop

#Citizen: No land here, they must go back to North...

#Govt: But there are clashes in the north too

#Citizens: whatever, They must go back to North

#Govt: These herders can't buy land to set up Ranches. It is capital intensive. Govt needs to assist them because of the importance of the subsector which has potential to generated huge revenue and contribute to our GDP.

#Citizens: Stop it!!! If they can't buy They should go back to North.

#Me:
* Ask those who are rejecting all govt proposed solutions for any way-out, some will simply say 'they must go back to North' as if there are no clashes upthere.
These 'apostle of go back to North' are the same persons who cried out when some Northern youth gave some set of Southerners #Quit_Notice.
* Wait, what if they ask our people too to leave?
All thanks to those who started this madness in 2015. They have been able to divide us more.
