Even within Nigeria, people should be open to migrating inter state .. there are some seriously underrated locations within the country where people can live a simple, stress free life if you aren't so keen on big city living.. take Akwa Ibom for example.. it just seems so peaceful and beautiful.. even as a Yoruba lady, I'd so much love to visit there.. Ibadan is also lovely for families and retirees.

A lot of people should consider the possibility that their furstration might be because they are trying to follow the crowd which may not suit their essence.. take living in Lagos for example... Lagos isn't for everyone, many people in Lagos right now should be in their villages trying to develop it to suit modern living.. instead they are trapped in the hustle and bustle of Lagos, living unfulfilled lives.

I'll always encourage anyone who wishes to travel.. explore your options, do your research, explore within & outside Nigeria before making an informed decision on where you'd rather be.

If you have the luxury of already owning a home in Nigeria;

Do not sell your house or land before moving abroad.

You need a place to stay whenever you visit/holiday in Nigeria, else you'll have no choice but to stay with family members or waste money on hotels & short lets. You also need a property to return home to after retirement.. except you plan to grow old and die abroad.

Ghana is one of the safest countries in Africa, you can move freely at night, travel to all regions without fear.
Their police isn't brutal like those uniformed animals in Nigeria. Their schools and universities are decent, their cultural and moral values far better.

Countries like Ghana, Benin Republic, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Gambia, Cape Verde etc.. the few Nigerians who go to these countries, go there and start displaying foolish arrogance like we are better than them.. like how do you flee your own country that has failed you, yet have the audacity to look down on your fellow Africans who are doing better?

Instead of being humble and relocating to African, Latin American or Carribean countries that are safer & more economically prosperous, Nigerians will instead
seperate from their families, sell their properties, take everything they've laboured for and go and submit it into the hands of the UK government only to get sent back to Nigeria empty handed with a useless degree.

The Nigerians who are enjoying UK today are;
- children (first generation) of those who settled here in the 80s/90s/early 2000s.
- Medical professionals like doctors, nurses.

This is one of many reasons why people would rather visit or relocate to other African countries than Nigeria.

How is it that Nigeria is known globally for its music/entertainment, arts & numerous cultures, yet, the average traveller would never consider Nigeria as a tourist destination (which it should be).

That man is a frustrated person. Like Ednut said, if he had used the time he spends ranting on YouTube to develop a relevant skill-set and network with people, he would be doing so well. I watched this video recently and kept asking myself why people like Phrankleen (a YouTuber) who has lived a visibly unfavourable existence abroad for many years, will never make a genuine attempt to relocate back to Nigeria permanently, yet, will rather make repetitive videos trashing the West, insulting those who are still abroad making a decent living for themselves.

I've also noticed that whenever people ask Phrankleen what he is still doing in the UK, rather than answer the question, he would result to vicious insults, endless rants and blocking. Why not be the example that you preach? afterall, there are YouTubers who made the move and are living their reality e.g. Sisi Yemmie, Iveoma, Bayo Adio, Sassy Funke etc..

Instead, Phrankleen would rather share potentially made up stories of others who claim to have made the move.

There are many reasons why self determination movements like Biafra, Niger Delta republic, Yoruba Nation etc are crumbling. However, I'll be raising some points around the Yoruba Nation movement.

1. Ignorance and poor knowledge of History.
Yoruba History isn't taught in Nigerian schools and this very intentional. The result of this is evident in the very ignorant population. Many Yorubas aren't aware of their true heritage and have little to no knowledge on the vast and diverse reach of Yoruba heritage; most Yorubas do not know of the ancient Oyo Kingdom and do not know that Yorubaland and Yoruba people extends into Togo, Benin and beyond.
The documentary Bigger than Africa (Netflix) highlights this beautifully. Many do not fully understand what Nigeria truly is, and the enslavement it represents. This lack of awareness breeds complacency in the general populous.

2. Unappealing to the Youths.
The agitation for an independent Yoruba nation does not come off as a modernised, sophisticated movement and this automatically makes it unappealing to the modern-day Yoruba youth.
The movement presents itself as one tailored for traditionalists, ifa practitioners and those wish to return the ancient Oyo ways of living. There is also a covert shunning of those who aren't fluent in the language, again, isolating a large percentage of young Yorubas who have grown up in Lagos or abroad and cannot speak the language. The lack of linguistic ability does not relegate the cultural heritage of the modern-day Yoruba and it is time to accept that we have evolved as a people.

3. Oduduwa - the problem around this.
There's no nation in this world that has an idol / deity as it's identity. The Oduduwa icon which has been incorporated into the proposed national flag is not only unpleasant to look at, but is also a highly bizarre way of branding the movement. A nation named after an ancestor/deity (Oduduwa) can never stand. It's just not done anywhere, nations are often named after the language of the people i.e. Yorubaland or Yoruba Kingdom.

4. The hyper focus on Juju/ Yoruba Spirituality.
This obessive, hyper focus on Yoruba Spiritually isolates a majority percent of Yorubas who do not believe or practice Ifa. Worse is the condescending and aggressive attitude of talking down on practitioners of Abrahamic religions which turns people off and sadly misrepresents the beauty and diversity of the multi-culturalism of Yoruba people.
This approach is highly segregatist and portrays the movement as a Nation that would be strictly subjected to the practice of Ifa / yoruba spirituality, thus putting off a large majority of modern-day Yorubas of different faiths.
While we must appreciate and acknowledge our heritage, there should be a clear distinction between understanding history and engaging in the diabolical practices of our ancestors which majority of Yorubas today refuse to return back to.

5. Poorly designed and conflicting flags.
There are 2 conflicting flags which, must be acknowledged and are both poorly designed. This shows lack of organisation and reflects badly on the movement as a whole.

6. The Cult-like Caucus.
Yoruba nation activists form many cults and caucuses within the movement - if you're in, you're in. If you're not, you're not.
Friction and in-fighting amongst groups, rumours of misappropriation of funds, betrayal and lack of cordination has resulted in the formation of numerous groups and subgroups e.g. Ilana Omo Odua, Think Yoruba First, Yoruba Nation, Clubhouse & Twitter subgroups etc..

7. Political Jobbers, Saboteurs and Lack of Genuine Agitators.
Hidden motives and selfish political ambition have caused many to sabotage the movement. Yorubas (sorry to say) generally do not think of the bigger picture, the focus is on "what can I achieve today", "how can I make a name for myself". This lack of collectivism and short-sightedness around the next generations Yorubas to come after us, has hindered the movement in more ways than none. The upcoming 2023 elections has become a major distraction.

Summary: The unitary system of Nigeria has proven itself to be a fraudulent business arrangement designed to exploit certain regions for the benefits of other unproductive regions. As thus, a return to regional system of governance or division along North & South might be the suitable solution to the complex, blood letting, quagmire called Nigeria.
