Phones / Re: UMIDIGI DISCUSSION THREAD by taiwoakin(m): 3:47pm On Jan 03, 2023
Hello House,

What Umidigi model would you recommend?

I want a model with very low risk of factory issues or software defects.
Also, I want something rugged, that can withstand rough use and occasional falls.
My budget is between 50k - 60k, can extend to 65k if necessary.

Thanks

Hello house
I bought a new Doogee N20 recently and it has been giving me headache.

The playstore keeps crashing, then after a few hours or all the other Google related apps also keep crashing randomly while being used.

You may use it for an hour without issues but once it resumes it's madness, all the apps would just start crashing.

After a few days, the issue graduated to normal apps on the phone crashing randomly while being used. Sometimes the phone freezes and and I have to restart it.

I have done factory reset, it didn't solve it, then I thought maybe the follow come ROM had issues, so i installed a different N20 ROM found online, still the same problem, then i flashed with another different N20 ROM I found online, the crashing still continues.

I have also tried different solutions like removing the installed updates on playstore and other stuff without results . I have removed automatic date and time and added then back.

Looking forward to gain from your experience.

I have googled the problem and I can't seem to find any Doogee user with a similar issue.

I am currently using umidigi a3 pro. The phone works well but the battery life is disappointing. If I have data switched on, the phone can't last more than 6 hours even after buying a new battery and changing the charging port.

I want to switch to a phone close to that price range but with rugged battery.

I have noted A7 pro, A9 set to be released on Jan 1 and Doogee N20. What's your advice.

AZeD1:

UK in the past had only Sky showing EPL matches on TV and people complained about the rising prices like how Nigerians complain about DSTV then BT sports and Amazon Prime got a slice of the market now avid football fans in the UK have to subscribe to Sky, BT and Amazon Prime to watch all matches which in total cost more than when it was only Sky.
So in theory, it was good to "break the monopoly" but the customer ended up paying more.

Same thing would happen in Nigeria. You'll probably have to get, DSTV and Startimes just to watch EPL if this rule goes into effect.

You don't understand the policy.
The UK policy was to split the broadcast rights between 2 broadcast companies, each company having exclusive rights to certain matches.

This policy is to resell the same broadcast rights (either partially or fully, based on negotiations) to a new broadcast company, without affecting the existing rights of the original rights holder.

EG Dstv might decide to sell 5 epl matches per week to startimes, that doesn't prevent Dstv from broadcasting its own 10 matches complete.

is it legal now for startimes to buy right from beIN

No, they have to buy the rights from a company that has rights to broadcast in Nigeria. Which means startimes must buy from Dstv and Dstv must buy from startimes.

Millions of jobs have been lost in the cable market as a result of the inability of companies to cope with the monopolistic tendencies of DSTV.

HI-TV, TSTV, kwese TV, TV continental, Daar Sat and several others that have bitten The dust that I can't even remember.

The policy by the Minister is a right step in the right direction.

After reading several comments, I have realized many people here do not understand the policy.

First Dstv does not buy rights from skysports or btsports, rather all rights are sold by the competition organizers.

EPL organizers sell the rights various media organizations worldwide, same thing with uefa.

The rights to each territory are sold via bidding war, so if Dstv pulls out of the bidding other companies can bid to acquire the rights at a fee they can afford.

The policy means startimes can approach Dstv to buy epl rights from them at a fee that would be negotiated by both parties while Dstv can also acquire Europa league rights from startimes.

Note that several broadcast companies have tried in the past to BUY rights from Dstv but they said an emphatic NO, in order to keep monopoly of the viewing audience.

Those in the industry know how these prices are negotiated and what constitutes a fair deal. Reselling of broadcast rights did not just start today, it has been happening for over 10 years.

EG if you bought the rights at 100 million dollars, you can't expect to sell it for more than 50 million dollars.

Please ooo, I am Still waiting for anyone who can advise me on the quality of Tigmax generators.

I have an offer to buy new Tigmax th6800dx at 48k (A 2.1 KVA gen) and another offer for Eco1990s or SPG2200 (a 1.5kva Gen) at 47k.

I have to make a decision tomorrow.

House please, is Tigmax Gen a good brand?
Technology Market / Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by taiwoakin(m): 12:24pm On Apr 01, 2019
I was at a trusted seller to buy the sumec firman spg 2200 today.
The seller insisted that the spg 1800 and spg 2200 are practically th same rating that I should forget about what is written on the body as rating.

He then suggested I go for Tigmax th6800dx if I want something higher than spg 1800 or I go for spg 2500(spg 2500 is above my budget) as a better alternative.

At this point, I am confused.

House, is the tigmax generator a good product?

I have searched online but I can't find the product specifications for Tigmax th6800dx

What's the difference between sumec firman spg 2200 and Sumec firman Eco1990s

I have concluded on buying a sumec generator with 1.8kva (1.5kva actual output)

You need to Specify the ratings of the 2 pressing irons. And mention any other appliance that you intend to use alongside the pressing iron.

If working with your current budget is the way you want to go, please go for Firman SPG1800, the original one with Firman engraved on the cab, air filter cover, on the tank etc. The fake one has SUM ECFIRMAN engraved on the tank instead of just FIRMAN, it also has gold coloured bolts and nuts instead of just SILVER.

Although Prof recommends Tec Junior Max for this type, Sumec Firman is not that bad as others have attested to it as well. My friend has been using his for 3 years now. You should get it at the market for 35 to 38K depending on where you are.

Finally, Shine your eyes and buy the original.

I Was at the market today, the trusted shop I went to insisted on 45,000 for sumec firman spg 1800.

Can you give me the contact of a trusted sumec firman seller that has competitive prices.

Preferably in Alaba, iyana ipaja, Agege, or Oshodi.

Thanks.

Can you give us the contact of the person selling the xtream account?

Can you also give us the number of a reliable dealer who sells IPTV decoders and the name of other cheaper IPTV decoders that are reliable

Thanks for your contributions

Thanks for the pointers
Tec Junior max is beyond my budget (even at 53k) and I don't want to believe it's the only good product on the market.

My options are currently
Sumec Firman spg1800 and Elepaq SPG2200 .

I am not sure which one I should pick yet though the elepaq has a higher rating than sumec.

Would appreciate contributions.

Thanks a million.

My current energy consumption is not much but I am projecting into the nest 1, 2 to 3 years.

I don't want to be forced into buying a new generator when I get a bigger refrigerator or other gadgets.

I want to know if the normal elepaq generators are OK or whether they are poor quality.

I am also interested in migrating to the IPTV Android box instead of continuing to pay Dstv on a monthly basis.

Can someone give me pointers?
Which decoder or box is best?

Hello professor,
I want to first thank you for your selfless service to this forum.

My budget for a generator is 40,000 naira.
After doing a little research I am a bit interested in Senwei(formerly Elepaq)

What is your experience regarding their 1.8 KVA gens like ECO2990S, ELE3200S, ECO2200S, SPG3200S.

All are 1.8kva and in my budget range.

If you do not advise that I buy Senwei, what other cost effective brand would you suggest.

Millions of Nigerians like myself still have functioning MAP. they disable the feature randomly

You can withdraw your payoneer funds by using the services of sendvalu or transferwise.
Google search them and make sure you have a valid means of ID eg PVC or Drivers license

Crime / Re: "How N37k Was Debited From My Bank Account Through My Stolen Phone" (Photos) by taiwoakin(m): 2:04am On Jul 10, 2018
The same thing happened to me just this weekend. My phone was stolen on Friday, long story short, they bought airtime on my sim card using my balance and subsequently transferred the airtime to their phone numbers.

By the time I rushed to call mtn customer care to block the line, the deed had been done. A call to the bank was also too late.

I was at the police station today to report the incident and the policeman at the counter advised me to forget about it because it involves tracking the phone number where the airtime was eventually transferred to and that phone number tracking was 50,000.

I intend to contact the Police via call or social media channels, tracking shouldnt be something we have to pay for.

For Gtbank, my message is this, enabling purchase of airtime by customers on their registered line without asking for pin is a big security loophole that needs to be blocked ASAP.

Criminals are exploiting it on a daily basis and the banks need to be proactive in checkmating the abuse.
