My husbands date is April 2023. Have you received an interview date yet?

Babanaaboy1:

There is no other way my friend than to wait for the next interview dates to be released, so as to know the next DQs in wait ! That's how I monitor it . I'm Feb 2023 DQed so I'm monitoring it closely 😀

Been looking for this thread and I am grateful to the person that came up with this. My husband applied for the eb2 niw April last year and we’re waiting on interview date/medicals. Anyone else applied from the UK?

Its just an addition from our end.......you know just to avoid stories that touch.
oxygyne:

Thanks, we await the support letter but is the support letter a requirement or just an alternative addition.
Travel / Re: Applying For FLR After Your Initial UK Spouse Visa (extension) by tayeby78: 9:56pm On Dec 05, 2020
He has filled that form in like 5 times.....no reply whatsoever. Thank God he can still work.

deebaby05:
@ tayeby78
I will suggest your hubby go online and fill the form for "If your BRP has not arrived "on gov.uk/brp as it is more than 10 days after getting the decision letter. I got our BRPs before the decision letter, can you imagine? But cos there was validity error, had to send the cards back to be cancelled and 4 days after got the re-issued cards cos they said the cards will come within 7 days.

Travel / Re: Applying For FLR After Your Initial UK Spouse Visa (extension) by tayeby78: 10:15pm On Nov 23, 2020
Will post our support letter here in due course.

Please Lamakinde have you received your BRp yet? Its been over 2 weeks and hubby hasn't received it yet and he has emailed and called the.. how long did yours take after you got the approval letter/email?

deebaby05:
@Lamakinde
Thanks a lot for this. This is why this forum is da bomb!!! I no waste time at all, i have applied for me and my 3 dependants grin grin. I sure hope they come thru unlike the scam they pulled saying free 1 year visa for NHS and healthcare workers meanwhile they already pegged the free visa for just 3,000 people so na first come, first served.

Hi,

My hubby and I live in Manchester so holla if you need anything. Church contacts or where to get food stuffs or even work.

Good luck

Aphrodite007:
Hi guys!

so I got into the UK a week ago via Manchester and there was absolutely no problem. All the food stuff I carried were in tact (I even carried cooked food sef grin, as the Nigerian food lover that I am!).

Anyway, when I got to the POE, the gentleman there was absolutely sweet, he didn’t ask for any documents other than my passport and then chatted a bit about the city my husband lives in. Like it was just gist and him laughing at me that I would have to travel to Wales to pick up my BRP grin

I’m resting for now and would begin search for work soon. I’m expanding my search from professional IT work to even sales assistant jobs (the tip is to go to the website of the company you want to work for and search for positions- you can do this for M&S, Tesco (I think) primark and more).

Good luck to everyone that’s about to apply. The secret to getting the spousal visa is to reading this forum thoroughly, being truthful in your application and also being prayerful. Cheers!

No need to panic. You've got your visa and that's all that matters for now.
It took them a while to return my husband's docs. I think about 8 weeks or so if I'm not mistaken. Even @Lamakinde as well. They just have a backlog. Your docs will be returned.

Aphrodite007:
Guys, my documents have not been returned to me, should I panic? I got my visa since 27th Feb with an entry date of 3rd March. Is there an email I can mail for unreturned documents? I did and included the self-addressed envelop in my documents to them, and I am very meticulous, so i obviously made copies of everything i wanted returned to me, as instructed.

Please fellas, what do they mean by if you have leaved together as a couple? I am filling the VAF4A. That area is grey for me because we haven't stayed together but have been seeing whenever in Nigeria. Secondly how does one account for things paid together, because I don't have receipts bearing both our names, but we have contributed money together before. Please I may be asking elementary questions but with the way I have been hearing scrupulous reasons for rejections I want to be properly guided by those that have been through this and are successful.
thanks

For my husband's one, I put the dates we spent together when I visited him in Nigeria. This also matched my flight details as well.
Secondly, if you sent her money or she sent you money wether through money transfer people or bank, highlight this in the statements you're submitting. She can get receipts from the money transfer person she used. Hope this is helpful. Good luck

Hi,

My husband has called council today to ask for his name to be on the council tax but they said he can't since his name is not on the mortgage. Do we need this to apply for the next stage and if so what can I do to get both our names on the council tax and the bill as proof of cohabitation?

Also, our house address is not showing up on the DVLA records. I think it's because it's a new built. How do I get our address to show for the purpose of driving licence and insurance?

Many thanks for your prompt reply always.

Portsmouth86:
Hi there

This is what I did for my husband and his arrival in the UK, just to give a heads up of what you may need to do next smiley

My hubby arrived in the UK on Saturday 13th February

08/02/2016 Council Tax- I informed them as soon as I booked his flight (8th Feb) and advised what date he would be moving to the UK
15/02/2016- Went to the post office to collect BRP (Biometrics residents permit)
15/02/2016- Called Electricity, Southern Water and Portsmouth water and also called National Insurance line made application
16/02/2016- SSE (Electricity issued a bill) this was a PDF online bill I used as proof of address
17/02/2016- Opened NatWest Bank account and registered with GP
18/02/2016- I did my husband a CV and we went to the agencies and registered for work.
18/02/2016- Appointment with Lloyds Bank to open a Joint Savings account.

22/02/2016- FPR recruitment asked hubby to come in for a health and safety test PASSED cheesy
23/02/2016- Hubby started his first job in the UK in a bakery, and is still there smiley (and did SIA security training, now awaiting the licence)
24/02/2016- Applied online for a provisional Licence
02/03/2016- D/L application arrived pre filled, signed returned with BRP card
15/03/2016- BRP returned from DVLA ( I knew a licence is issued as the ref is a DL number smiley
16/03/2016- Provisional Arrived smiley

So in a nutshell:
-Council tax
-Collect BRP
-National Insurance
-Electric company
-Gas company ( if you have)
-Water company (both fresh and waste)

Then once you have a letter from one of the utilities or council tax:
-Bank Account
-GP
-Dentist (my husband hasn't yet registered with one smiley )

useful information:
NI number:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number call 0345 600 0643 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm (make sure you state he has been offered a job but requires a NI number) they will ask why you need one although obvious, however you can actually work for up to 12 weeks without an NI number smiley this is issued now by the jobcentre Plus not DWP

You need to get proof of address before you can open a bank account or register with a GP, so make sure those are the first things, check your billing dates for utilities as you could time it to get a bill the following day, as i called the day before my bill was due to be generated (luckily)

Driving Licence ( international licence can be used for 12 months from entering UK)
https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence

And make sure you file any letters for Joint or single names for your next stage FLR as you need to provide proof of cohabitation smiley

I hope this helps smiley

Hi Phoenix,

Ukvi never send confirmation email for receiving supporting documents. Tls tracker also takes a while to update their system. In my husband's case, they only updated their tracker on the 8th week after my husband sent them a complaint on their site and I suggest you do the same if you're worried. Good luck sir.

Can anyone pls help me out?

We also included screenshots of our WhatsApp video calls........showing both your images on an active call as this was our main source of communication.
deept:
for the guys concerned about proof of relationship and pictures, sometimes not about number but quality. they know we are africans/nigerians and are big on traditional wedding, this one is probably the hardest to fake, get pictures from your trad, you dobaleing for your families, she kneeling down before your parents, the one you take with the parents etc. the one you gbe the iyawo literarily.

photos signing the marriage registry, kneeling before the priest/pastor, if you had a weddinig reception, some from there.

if you have travelled together for honeymoon, copies of visa stamp and tickets a few pictures from there too.

Timeline

Spousal application August 6 2016
Biometrics 12th August 2016
23rd Oct - application not straight forward email from ukvi.
January 17th 2017 - visa refused - based on financial requirements cos we submitted details for self employed and full time employment, English language and not enough evidence of our relationship

Feb 3rd - appealled asper lawyers advise

March - found this forum and was taking screenshots of everything............

April - notice of pending appeal

June - emailed Manchester MP who happens to be a labour candidate and they are in full support of immigrants - got the advise from this forum

July - got letter appeal listed for December 8th 2017 - Same day the MP replied me. Lol

August 9th - reapplied since the appeal was taking too long.

August - MP wrote me to find out the progress but I told her about the new application and that I wasn't coping, i was depressed and have to move in with my mother and appeal is taking too long.
