4. Renew your mind daily by the word of God. (Romans 12:2). Study the word to know God. Let your mind be filled with God’s word.

Religion / Trust In The Lord, Look To The Hills. by TheNewVine(m): 11:32am On Feb 25, 2021
The Bible in Proverbs 3:5-8 gives us the best advice we can ever get in times of trouble, when we are about starting a new venture, when embarking on what God has told us to do, when mending that broken relationship, when battling with that bad habit or sin.

In fact, these passages are a perfect solution to every challenge we face in our lives. The Bible Passage reveals that the solution to these challenging situations is to TRUST GOD.

How?

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:6 says, “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:7 says, “Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the LORD, and depart from evil”
Then it adds in Proverbs 3:8 “It shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones”
Then it concludes in Proverbs 3:9 & 10, “Honour the LORD with your possessions, and first-fruits of all your increase. So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine”
We Trust God too much, to Give up.

We have a right to expect a glorious tomorrow as God’s children, even if the present situation does not in any way make such optimism look realistic.

Despite the face of uncertainty and the bad economic situation we find ourselves in as a nation. We believers should REMEMBER that we serve a God who specialises in giving pleasant surprises to His children.

The Lord is able to take care of you in the midst of any crisis, just make sure you trust in Him and obey Him in all things.

Pay your tithes, win souls, work as He tells you to and live Holy.

Religion / Encouragement Is Only A Text Away. by TheNewVine(m): 2:48pm On Jan 13, 2021
How can you uplift your friends when you’re not in the same place?

Today we’re going to explore how we can encourage our friends from afar, through a simple text message.

Don’t save encouragement for the weekend
As a teenager, I find that all my God ‘stuff’ like youth group and church all happen at the end of the week. In theory, I don’t have a problem with this—but I know that the inspiration and encouragement of meeting together to praise God often doesn’t last by the time Wednesday rolls around.

It was for this reason that a group of friends I met at a Christian camp decided to send each other a weekly text of encouragement. This sometimes looks like a long-winded paragraph about how our weeks are going, and others are as simple as “Remember to read your Bible,” or “I am praying for you.”

Even though these messages only consume about ten seconds of our weeks, it’s a boost all of us have come to appreciate.

Not only do I keep in touch with people I don’t get to see regularly, but I have something extra to look forward to each week.

Give your friends the motivation to keep going
Being a Christian isn’t easy at school. It’s hard to keep going when we constantly feel judged and rejected by our peers for believing in God. So checking my phone during a day filled with challenges and seeing the words “I am praying for you” is really uplifting.

It’s these simple words of encouragement that keep me going throughout the week.

Religion / Some Key Ingredients To Answered Prayer. by TheNewVine(m): 11:49am On Jan 12, 2021
Hello there! hope you’re having a good time. In this post, I will love to share some key ingredients to answered prayers that I have learned during the course of my fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

As you read through I hope you’ll get blessed

FORGIVENESS.
“And when ye stand praying, forgive if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses” Matthew 11:25.

From this verse, we see that one key ingredient to answered prayer is forgiveness. As believers, we should learn to forgive those who hurt us and also ensure that we apologise to whoever we have hurt and asked for forgiveness too.

ASK IN FAITH.
“But let him ask in FAITH, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let, not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord”– James 1:6-7.

Asking in FAITH is another key ingredient to answered prayers. When we ask in FAITH and not doubt our prayers will definitely get answered. Even though it tarries our request will be answered with consistent prayer.

CONFESS YOUR SINS.
“If we say that we have no sin, we decieve ourselves, the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”- 1John 1:8-9.

To get our prayers answered we need to confess our sins and ask that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness from the Father is a key ingredient to answered prayer.

Religion / God Has Called Us To Enjoy Divine Prosperity Through Tithing. by TheNewVine(m): 3:04pm On Jan 11, 2021
“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”– Galatians 3:7.

God has called us to enjoy divine prosperity. But first He has called us into righteousness. “Just as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness”(Galatians 3:6). We are also to believe Him and be sanctified in Him.

Even though we can be likened to Gentiles in today’s world, Christ’s death and His grace have made us partakers in God’s blessings to Abraham. This is because we are now descendants of father Abraham.

Yes, by faith in Christ we are sons and daughters of Abraham, (Galatians 3:7) – so automatically we are partakers of bGod’s covenant to Abraham.

In Genesis 17:1-10 (Read Here), God promised Abraham that He will bless Him and “Multiply him exceedingly” if he will “walk before Him and be blameless”.

He then promised Abraham that he will be the ‘Father of Many Nations’.

Genesis 17:4 affirms it – “As for me, behold my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations”.

The Lord Almighty further established His covenant with Abraham and told him, He will “establish His covenant between Himself and Abraham, and descendants after Abraham from generations to generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to Abraham and to his descendants”.

And so the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying; “In you, all nations shall be blessed” (Galatians 3 VS eight).

This promise is not for all nations of the whole earth. But the promise is kept for only his descendants who believe in Christ and are of faith.

So God extended His covenants to the descendants of Abraham (both Jews and Gentiles, Circumcised and Uncircumcised), who believeth Christ (are born again) and are of the faith. “That the blessings of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:4).

Now that we know we are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus, and that we are Christ’s and also Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. I will show you how this relates to TITHING.

Religion / Nothing Should Stand Between Us And God. by TheNewVine(m): 11:53am On Nov 05, 2020
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me“- Exodus 20:3.

There should be nothing standing between us and our God. Neither should there be anything taking His place in our lives.

We need to be totally separated for Him and allow no one to lay claim on our lives.

God needs more of our dedication, devotion, commitment and consecration. We need total separation from sin and move back unto the Lord.

Religion / Where Are Your Treasures? by TheNewVine(m): 11:13am On Nov 05, 2020
Treasures are what your heart yearns for and takes your maximum attention and quality of time. There are two places where treasures are kept, they are: on Earth and in heaven, these two places have certain attributes which are worthy of note.

Earth as a place on which treasures are kept is limited (moth and rust on Earth could destroy the treasures, and even thieves could get access to the treasures and steal them). On the other hand, heaven as a place in which treasures are kept is not limited (moth and rust cannot destroy them, nor thieves break through and steal).

Religion / Disobedience Grieves The Holy Spirit. by TheNewVine(m): 1:02pm On Nov 02, 2020
When we disobey we sin, and this sin grieves the Holy Spirit. This grieves the Holy Spirit most especially when it is a conscious disobedience.

One of the reasons why we feel unhappy most times is because we have failed to act in obedience to God.

We act in disobedience when we fail to obey God’s commandments, when we disregard our parents, spouse, boss, teachers, elder, spiritual leader, government and anyone in authority (even an elder sibling).

God doesn’t like this and He appreciates if we live in obedience to Him.

“When we act in disobedience we grieve the HOLY SPIRIT, but when we act in obedience He is pleased.”

Religion / Spiritual Growth (growing In The Word). by TheNewVine(m): 12:30pm On Nov 02, 2020
Growth is inevitable in life, everything in life such as humans, animal, business, academics, career, marriage, etc. are expected to grow from stage to stage, when this doesn’t happen it is considered to be a problem, this also applies to our spiritual life as a Christian.

As a believer in Christ we are meant to grow from babes into adulthood, to grow we need the word of God just as babies need milk to grow. The Bible says; “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1peter 2:2).

Religion / The Higher Powers. by TheNewVine(m): 9:56am On Oct 06, 2020
Bible reference Romans 13 & Romans 12.
Even as we are the same members of the body of Christ and are all equal in Christ. We should not despite the fact that there are those with higher powers (or say authority) who are to rule or lead us as members of the body of Christ.

These men and women have truly surrendered and submitted themselves to do God’s will, in the true leading, guidance and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

Paul in Romans 12, had shown us how to live as members of the body of Christ, how we should conform not to the things of this world, but to surrender our body a living sacrifice, Holy and acceptable unto God.

He taught us to be “fervent in Spirit, serving God, rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, and continuing in instant prayers.”

He also taught us to be of the same mind one toward another. Minding not on high things, but bringing ourselves down to the low state of men, in humility.

He even made us realise, that the only way we can overcome evil is by repaying with good.

“Recompense no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”

Yes, he taught us how we need to compel ourselves and live as members of the body of Christ. But in Romans 13, he brings to us another important aspect of living as members of the body of Christ. He teaches us to surrender to higher powers and authorities in the body of Christ.

These powers are the ministers of God given to direct and lead us.

*Kindly Read Our New Article On Thenewvine* *Crucified With Christ* Are you crucified with Christ? crucified with Christ simply means denying your selfish desires to follow God’s will and commandment, that means, you no longer act according to your will but God’s will in every aspect of your life.

Jesus said that if we do not deny yourself and follow Him, we cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. Apostle Paul is a typical example of a person who denied himself and took up the cross and followed Jesus.

He said in Galatians 2:20; “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”.

As Christians we must crucify all our selfish desires and carry the cross of Christ Jesus and live for him.

The question for thought is are we ready to give up all our selfish desires? Kindly read other articles here>>https://thenewvine.com/2020/09/17/crucified-with-christ/
Religion / It Is Not Based On Feelings, But Faith. by TheNewVine(m): 12:18pm On Sep 03, 2020
As Believers we are not to ever take the experience with God and the Holy Spirit on feelings but on FAITH.

When we are baptised by the Holy Spirit, we don’t have to experience emotional excitement in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit. As long as we see the fruit of the Spirit in our lives we know we have received His presence.

The only time we can have a greater intimacy with God is when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. When this happens we will experience a definite leading of the Holy Spirit in our life. We will be guided and disciplined by the presence of the Spirit in our life. At this moment we become God’s own and he owns our life. He becomes the driver, while we become the vehicle he directs wherever He wants.

At this moment He has all of you and you have all of Him. His business becomes yours and your business becomes His business. When the Holy Spirit becomes your partner, He reveals to you everything and everything you own becomes His.

Religion / Overcoming Fear With Faith. by TheNewVine(m): 10:32am On Aug 28, 2020
Fear is a strong, uncontrollable, unpleasant emotion caused by actual or perceived danger or threat. As humans, fear is an emotion that cannot be avoided but can be overcomes. Most people become slaves to fear because of their lack of faith, in other words they are subjects to fear.

“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”(Hebrews 11:1).

Having the faith that no matter the situation or problem, God is always there to sort it out is the most crucial and principal way to overcome fear. The Bible says; “They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abideth forever”(Psalm 125:1), It also says;

“Have faith in God, Jesus answered”(Mark 11:22).

Jesus adviced is as His disciples to always have faith God because with God nothing is impossible, having faith means confessing his word and believing them without any doubt or unbelief. The emotion (fear) will definitely creep in but with Faith in God we can overcome it, so as believers we should not be slaves to fear rather fear is meant to be slaves to us because God has given us dominion over fear.

Religion / Be Careful In Taking A Vow. by TheNewVine(m): 11:28am On Aug 27, 2020
One deadly habit of Christians nowadays is making a vow and not fulfilling it. Either it be to man or God. It is a very bad, dangerous and harmful habit every child of God must avoid doing.

Even a s the Bible itself has warned us against making vows and not fulfilling them. Most times we make vows to God, without being able to fulfill them, and then we conclude that God understands and will have mercy on us.

No this is wrong, even if Christ will forgive us when we commit such offence, it alson has it’s repercussion and effect in our lives.

Verse six of our bible reference says, “Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error, wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?” This affirms the truth that it is a dangerous thing not to pay your vows to God – Nothing could be more dangerous than this.

God takes with great light our vows to Him and our fellow men. He feels so unhappy when we fail to fulfil them even after He has fulfilled his own promise or part of the vow.

You should never break your vow or promise to man, to your children, to your employer or employee and most importantly to your spouse (your marriage vows).

We all have failed in one way or the other in fulfilling our vows, but we have a chance to repent, restitute and fulfil them before it gets too late. Vow breakers will not enter into the kingdom of God.

Let’s Pray.
Heavenly Father, I repent of all the unfulfilled vows I have made to you and to man, help me to make amends now without further delay.
