A beautiful write-up, Standd. But I don't know if unity is plausible at present. You see, the seed of hatred, dis-unity, tribalism was sewn deep into the fabrics of our lives by our parents, grandparents and ancestors and being worsened by the present political madness. Even amongst the same tribe, discrimination prevails, not to talk of other tribes. I really don't see us coming together as one in the near future. One can only hope.

Dutse is so on point. What a secure place to live in. You hardly hear of crime and its likes. The governor has really tried in terms of security. And the people are peace loving too. God bless Dutse

I don't think I'm going to comment here again now that I, a professional book critic is being called a novice and a fool.

I felt it was okay to criticise Tee Dan's work because I saw due to the nature of my work that he had potentials and just needed a little work. He took correction the first time I corrected him and I also came out to commend him for improving. Those throwing insults about didn't see that.

What people fail to realise is that agents are looking for raw talents everyday. They visit such sites and by the time sub-standard goods are offered, you don't know you've lost a chance at stardom when you could have given the top quality you're made of.

And what are writers really writing for? For the money? For entertainment? Look at Chimamanda today. She wrote stories worthy of various awards. God knows if I were a writer, I would try my best to make sure my book is award worthy.

Readers you can continue asking for more sub-standard stories simply because you're eager to know what happened in the next scene but wouldn't it be better if you could say someday that you knew a renowned writer when he /she was just starting in nairaland?

Peace! I'm out.

Looool...baba calm down.I don't tag it as "dirty politics" per se..the guy was just in shock as to how Audrey was amassing votes. Don't worry, audrey will definitely win this. Nice job alerting everyone to vote for her. Thou art a good patroit grin .
I'm very sorry for my outburst. I got carried away by my emotions. My passion about writing and writers has gotten me into trouble times without numbers.

Guys please vote for whoever you want to vote for. Itsnt by force or coercion or anything. I apologise to the followers of the other thread also. Lastly I apologise to Audrey. I believe you don't like such an attitude.

From now on, I'll only post the link as a constant reminder for all those who haven't voted.

Thanks.

PrinceAdepoju: We are not helping him if we keep quiet.

Be it regular updater or good writer, there's a difference in regular updates and just-updates.

@Akinpelumi. Okay, why do you think Audrey is gaining ground as a regular updater than T.Dan.
The last time I checked, T.Dan had started posting his stories before her. So, where did all those "her-voters come from?

You can imagine when SammyHoe was new on Nairaland too. The EBIAG story brought him many followers. . .i think it's Audrey's time now.

I have to second thepatriot's post.

I've tried very hard to keep this cos I don't want to sound harsh or rude. But, thank you for voicing out my mind sir.

It seems we are taking this voting thing too far. This is a faceless forum and there's nothing any writer can do if a reader doesn't vote him or her.
The voting should not be by force, it should be voluntary. I've seen some readers ask for the link to the voting thread cos they wanted to vote for Writer.

That's how it should be!

On the other hand, I've developed interest in some writers here on Nairaland. Thier write-ups are almost flawless.
I don't think AudreyTimms begged her readers before they start voting for her.... and she won in less than a month(which amazes me till tomorrow!)

I will support you, sir, in advising TemitopeDaniel to work on himself in terms of grammar and composition which you stated.

I'm really sorry to confess this that the story is getting boring to me. It maybe because of the interesting ones I've come accross.
But this will not stop me from following T.Dan.

It should be a challenge for T.Dan and others to buckle up and improve. I'm not a better writer though.

@all readers and followers, there are so many ways to encourage T.Dan other than the voting thing. If he wins, good; if he doesn't, good.

We can help him by humbly criticizing his works and confess our mind, not pretend. This will go a long way in developing him.

We should quit the pretense and confess our minds, please.

I pray you will find a way to forgive me for this, boss.
I almost wept when I read this. Finally! Someone who shares my passion for writing. I'm so pleased. I guess it's just the Nigerian factor where everyone has to beef everone else because we are on opposite sides of the fence. I don't have any beef for Tee Dan. I don't know Audrey from Adam but I've never criticized her work because she knows, accepts and wants to work on her shortcomings. I have never criticized any other writer here apart from Tee Dan because I know he's not exploiting his full potentials. But readers are seeing it as beef. I got caught up in the heat of the moment also by declaring war but I have apologised.

Thanks for this piece PrinceAdepoju. One can only hope they all take it in good faith and not burn us in hell with their minds.

Thanks.

Akinpelumi01: Mr Patriot or what is this name of urz?? The title says Regular updater not best writer!!!! She might be better than him but I was talking about d regular updater! Sarcasm won't ķill u!! undecided
Dude, I'm very sorry. I read regular updater to mean not just updates but content as well. She updates with less errors than Tee Dan.

I'm sorry for my outburst also. The thing is, I'm very passionate about writing and writers but I admit I got carried away by emotions. I apologise. Amen to your prayer.

Tee Dan. I'm very sorry. I hope my apology is accepted.

Thanks.

Okinjay: Good morning people..I want to come and solicit for votes also ooo. Our "opponents" are doing aggressive marketing and they seem to be giving us a run for our money. Please let's just go to the link below and vote for Audrey Timms. We can't deny the fact that she's worth it. Thank you as you vote.
Audrey mama, get well soon and thanks for all the twists and turns your updates always throws up.

If I weren't a guy, I would have said 'I love you.' I totally agree with you. They are playing dirty politics! I call it dirty politics because you don't diss your opponent in trying to promote yourself. To me, one of them actually dissed our Audrey by referring to her as 'that audrey girl' and one of them calls people who constructively critcizes the writer (I being one of them) as haters! Imagine. When Audrey herself asked us to criticise her work!

Let's have some fun guys. This is like game on to me! Please let's go and vote for her again. There might not be another opportunity to do that. This might be her last time here. Talents like her don't stay at a low level for long before their snagged by big time publishers.

Game on people!

Akinpelumi01: Vote for T.Dan as the regular updater of NL, notice he still updated even when he had crisis.. if not for criticisms, he did update like 3 or more per day but when many ppl don dey complain, he changed it to seriea and has been consistent, I'm just saying my mind sha oh, but this is what you can do to reward this beautiful story.

AK.

Just write Temitope Daniel, that's all.

I take exception to that. You prefer him dishing out sub-standard stories instead of impeccable ones he's capable of? Just to win regular updater of the month, u prefer he updates regularly with huge errors or take his time to update with minimal errors? Its your type who put writers at a standstill with no room for improvement just to satisfy your selfish desires. I'm commenting because I was one of those if not the first to constructively criticise his work in good faith.

My dear Temitope Daniel, no hard feelings. I voted for someone better NOW. I said NOW because she writes better than you in terms of grammar and composition NOW but there are two things you have that she doesn't have. Once you conquer your grammar and composition coupled with what you alredy have, she won't be able to tie your shoe laces not to talk of stand near you.

I rest my case

Guys, I just went to the competition thread and I just discovered you guys haven't been voting. Is it because you've already voted for her as best writer for this month or you feel one win is enough for her? Thanks to those who have already voted. Okinjay, you opened the door even without being urged to do so. I see you. Here's the link again.

RIP Dave

Back to the matter at hand. Please let's go and vote for her as regular updater of the month. Yesterday alone, we got four updates- one in the morning, one in the afternoon and two last night. And all the updates were long. Who else here does that? Please tell me. Its the same link but I'll post it here anyway. Thanks.
