It is extremely shocking to know that the 2016 scholarship funds which have been stipulated in the 2016 budget are yet to be released. How can NDDC defend such a crass and shameful inaction? Scholars are languishing in foreign countries, while others are unable to travel due to no mobilization fee. How do they expect scholars to survive without upkeep? Not to talk of tuition fees. It is truely sad and disheartening. |

truebenny: I never said it was easy getting the letter.... I studied in the UK. Do you think they would have still given the consent letter if perhaps you were applying for a work visa? |

[quote author=truebenny post=50507922]I wouldn't say extend, more like reapply...but is very possible to extend to study visa. I was able to obtain the consent letter from the NDDC.
Was this UK or Canada? |

truebenny: I choose to disagree. I was an MSc scholar and wanted to further (do a PhD), and it was part of the Visa requirements to obtain a letter of consent from the NDDC (due to the clause in the award letter that states I will return after my studies to help develop the Niger Delta). Was this when you wanted to extend your study visa? So its impossible then? |
Education › Re: NDDC 2016 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Application Commences by Thermok: 3:38pm On Oct 25, 2016 |
Nuel1647: I think the scholarship specifies that. But if you have other commitments like further study, get married, get a professional job or even something like a post doc, nobody is going to drag you back home. I hope so, don't want to come back so soon. Thanks for answering. |
Education › Re: NDDC 2016 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Application Commences by Thermok: 2:10pm On Oct 25, 2016 |
@Nuel, is there any consent form that a scholar must sign as part of the visa process. I was told that the content of the form forces one to come back after studies. Tnx |
Education › Re: NDDC 2016 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Application Commences by Thermok: 6:47am On Oct 03, 2016 |
Nuel1647: There is no fear whatsoever, just follow the rules and submit all your documents as at when due. Within six months of collecting your letter, make sure you have secured a new admission and other requirements. Fill all the forms you were given at the predepature briefing and complete your documentation with NDDC during this six months period.
NDDC will then give you an updated scholarship letter, stating your new school and course if there are any changes.
Godson of Margeducation will always be available to help. Although he didn't help me, he helped a lot of people and I hope it's still free of charge. Some institutions will be present at the predepature briefing to offer admission to those who need it. Thank you so much Nuel |

Nuel1647: Basically corporate, but you can wear anything so long as it's presentable. I don't think it's a good Idea to over dress (Ladies, you already have the scholarship, no need to impress anyone). Lol. @Nuel, I heard you deferred your scholarship. Where there any fears or complications? Thanks |

drakoy: I guess because it is past working hours. When I called, I was told to dial the extension if I know who I want to speak with or else wait while they connect me to someone. After waiting, they connected me to someone who in turn connected me to the lady in charge of scholarship the moment i mentioned scholarship issues. And they don't work on weekends, so the soonest time to contact them is on Monday. I just hope its not too late. |

drakoy: I am in the same shoe with you. I called a number on their facebook page (08039074000) and was connected to those in the scholarship department. I complained to the lady, although she insisted they sent the message to everyone. She asked for my details and said she'll look into it. Maybe you should also give them a call so they'll know a number of people were affected. I tried calling but they were requesting an extension number, what number did you key in? |
