Politics / Re: Governor Wike, Dakuku Peterside Disagree Over Rivers Council Election by TheTrueSeeker: 2:54pm On Jun 18, 2018 |
The party stalwart said that several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called him, accusing the governor of manipulating everything, including changing the names of some candidates at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC). Dakuku and his Co travelers are day-dreaming....!!!! What happened to Hon. Bari Mpigi (an APC Chieftain) that came out to cast a vote on Saturday Sir? In 2015 just 6 days to the expiration of his tenure, Amaechi conducted a sham LG election in which only APC participated, PDP and all others boycotted even though the Court later did the needful. Why are they complaining after they openly claimed APC would boycotted the June 16th 2018 Council Poll only to secretly sponsor some other unpopular political Parties that did not even print a single poster nor field any candidate to try to scuttle the process? They tried to stop the election through the Court, they failed (Court turned them down) They threatened to disrupt the election on Saturday by not obeying the restriction of movement order hoping the Security Agents would be on their side but again they failed as the NPF choose to remain neutral They are currently planing to use those unpopular political parties to challenge the election in Court sighting irregularities. They will fail again..!!! Please these politicians should let the peace we are currently enjoying in Rivers to be sustained for the overall betterment of all...!!! |

Politics / June 12: Constitutionally Speaking May 29, Marks The Exact 4-Year Change Of Govt by TheTrueSeeker: 4:40pm On Jun 07, 2018 |
President @MBuhari just announced his acknowledgement of June 12 as the proposed Democracy day in Nigeria, it goes without saying that the change notwithstanding will not affect the constitutional fact that Nigeria will continue to have a change in government after every four years on the 29th day of May. By midnight on May 29, if there is no democratic change in government then, we will be faced with a lacuna. So in my personal opinion (which by the way I am entitled to), the change in date is still a proposal. May 29th is Nigeria's Democracy Day since its the recognized day for change in democratic government after every 4 years....!!! Even if there is a constitutional amendment today, the tenure of every democratic government in Nigeria will be read from the 29th day of May and not from June 12...!!! |

Like someone rightly said, we are not sure who to believe anymore, could this be politically motivated? If you've never been setup with gun, huge cash or hard drugs secretly hidden in your car by the police in the name of conducting a search then they pretend to have 'discovered' those items and you find yourself in, then you may not understand what COULD be playing out here. The NPF owes Nigerians the utmost duty of being diligent and non partisan at sensitive issues as this. We know politicians sponsor political thugs everywhere but what happened in Offa was not any political activity. It took lives of innocent Nigerians. So if the names mentioned here are culpable, they should not deter or be intimidated, they should do a thorough work at bringing the culprits and all their sponsors to book and give justice to the dead...!! 2 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / #Not2YoungToRun Bill, Pensioners Now Asking For #Not2OldToRetire Bill by TheTrueSeeker: 10:54am On Jun 01, 2018 |
Following the passage and eventual signing into law by President @MBuhari of the NotTooYoungToRun Bill, the controversy surrounding the passage of the Bill has continued to generate reactions from different quarters and this time, Pensioners under the aegis of Retired FG and State Civil Servants across the country are demanding for the complete abolishment of the compulsory Retirement age for Civil Servant in the Country insisting that if President @MBuhari at his present age could still be vying for the nation's number 1 seat and also encouraging the young people to get involve in active service, then, they should not be discriminated upon by the continued retention of the compulsory age of retirement limit that is currently practiced in the Civil Service Commission Act of Nigeria. They argued that they should as a matter of necessity be given the opportunity of serving the country for as long as their strength can withstand while they continue to enjoy the privilege of earning their full salary packages for as long as the choose. hardywaltz: Refrain from using the congress of 5th May meant don't do anything to the contrary until the suit is determined. Cancelling that congress before the determination of the suit and quickly conducting another is simply FRAUDULENT and an attempt to arm-twist the Court. Is that too difficult to understand? Cancelling the 5th May congress means you have done something (An action had been taken) with/to it....!!! |

hardywaltz: Court of Appeal to do what exactly? The Judge relied on his earlier order restraining the APC from conducting any congress in Rivers, APC NWC in contravention of the order went ahead to conduct congress What ever Court of Appeal will be deciding is if the Judge erred in the order or if APC NWC erred in conducting congress in spite of the order. When a matter is pending in a competent Court of Law especially when a Court had issued an expertie order, parties maintains the status quo or seek to vacate the order first but APC does not understand that. 1 Like |

The Court should have also ordered for someone to be sent to prison for contempt....!!! The same APC that is currently shouting that LGA elections must not hold in Rivers next month cos matter is still pending at the SC went ahead to conduct Congress in spite of the Court order....!!! Amaechi conducted LGA elections on the 23rd of May 2015 (6 days to the expiration of his tenure) in disobedience to a Court order restraining him from conducting same. Few months later, a FHC nullified that LGA election and APC did not appeal the judgment. |

The hard working Prof in VP Osinbajo deserves more....!!! Secondly, as former legislators that they claim they are, who should rather make such laws for male president/female VP? The Executive or the Legislative arm of Government? Even if President @MBuhari agrees to that, would he be president forever? 1 Like |
Politics / Rivers: Supreme Court ‘stops’ Council Election, Adjourns Case To December 18 by TheTrueSeeker: 10:30am On May 25, 2018 |
The Supreme Court of Nigeria, in a sitting that lasted barely five minutes yesterday, 24th May, 2018 in Abuja, adjourned the matter brought before it by Rivers State Govenor, Mr. Nyesom Wike, whether elected local government chairmen he sacked from office are entitled to be joined in the matter instituted by the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenging the governor’s action. The matter was adjourned until December 18, 2018. The court had resolved that the Department of State Security, DSS, being the 17th Respondent in the matter, be properly served by Wike. Lawyer to the Inspector General of Police, Barr. Emenike Ebete, who spoke to The Neighbourhood from the Supreme Court, summed the decision of the apex court to mean that until the matter was determined, any further action, including holding of the June 16 local government election, taken by Gov. Wike, would be both sub judice and a nullity. “The appellant did not serve one of the parties. If any of the party has not been served, the matter can not go on.” The counsel gave an insight into the legal implication. “The matter is still before the court; still pending. And since the matter is still pending, they ought to respect the processes before the court. It does not lie in their own mouth to begin to calculate when the tenure (of the elected chairmen) elapsed because the Federal High Court had said that it had nullified the election. To them that meant there was no election in the first place. So, if there was no election in the first place, how do you then ascribe tenure to something that had never been? So, it is the court that will determine whether there was an election, and if there was an election, when their tenure will run in the light of the nullification done by the court. Will it begin to run when they were sworn-in or from the day the court said it was a nullity? It is for the court to determine. Not even the Supreme Court, but the Court of Appeal. So, if they sit in their bedroom and begin to calculate (the tenure of the elected chairmen), that amounts to calculating when a man yet to be born would die. So, they can do what they want to do in their lawlessness but we still have the law here. It is for the court to tell us what should be done. Not them.” One of the affected chairmen, Reginald Ukwuoma, himself a lawyer, explained to The Neighbourhood that Wike had prayed for the exclusion of the DSS, a prayer the court declined in the manner it was presented. Ukwuoma gave further explanation of what transpired in court today. “The subject matter is the same thing they want to conduct. So, by every legal implication the matter will be sub judice. The matter is pending and if they go ahead to do election contrary to the position of the law, it is a nullity. And today the matter has been adjourned to the eighteenth of December for them to serve the Seventeenth Respodent which is the Director of SSS. And they had wanted to discontinue with (them) since they couldn’t serve them but the court said no they couldn’t discontinue in that form. Teh court told them that they couldn’t just cross their name by a line. That they must do that formally. “The implication in Law is very, very clear that if a subject matter has not been disposed off you cant’t tamper with it in any form. It is elementary (in Law). But we know we are living in a state of anarchy where lawlessness prevails and the governor of the state is not given to rule of law.” While the elected but sacked chairmen are praying to be made necessary parties in the matter, Wike thinks otherwise asking that they have no right to be made joinders. Wike lost his argument in both the High and Appeal Courts, the reason he took it to the apex court. The matter came up as the first on the list of cases this morning as both parties opened their arguments. It was gathererd that Gov. Wike had envisaged that the Supreme Court would give its ruling on the matter today. The Neighbourhood could not speak with any of his lawyers after the matter was adjourned despite attempts to do so. Comrade Celestine AkpoBari, one of the affected, elected chairmen, who was present in the court, told The Neighbourhood that they would return on the 18th of December to continue with the matter. “The Supreme Court adjourned the matter to enable the service to the DSS to be effected. We shall return as adjourned.” Both sides had their legal counsels present with OCJ Okocha, SAN, Emmanuel Aguma,SAN, Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, leading the litany of lawyers on Wike’s side. On the side of the chairmen, ST Hon, SAN, Barr. Emenike Ebete and other lawyers, were in court. http://theneighbourhoodonline.com/news/othernews/rivers-supreme-court-stops-council-election-adjourns-case-to-december-18-as-it-orders-wike-to-serve-dss.html |

Politics / IGP Orders F-SARS Commander In Rivers To Sue Gov. Wike...!!! by TheTrueSeeker: 12:17pm On May 21, 2018 |
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the Rivers State Commander of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), Mr. Akin Fakorede, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), to sue Governor Wike and the Rivers State Government for libellous publications against him. A May 17 letter, signed by the IGP’s Principal Staff Officer (PSO), Usman Umar, authorised the commander to sue the state. The letter, passed through the Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, reads “I refer to your letter No. CB:3960/RVS/VOL.1/3, dated May 16, 2018 with its attachment on the aforementioned subject (request for authorisation to seek legal/civil remedy against continuous publication of false, malicious and libellous publications against ACP Akin Fakorede by the Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and agents of the Rivers State government) and respectfully convey the approval of the IGP that you direct the officer (Fakorede) to go to court, please.” The authorisation to sue Wike and Rivers came after IGP exonerated the commander in Rivers of allegations levelled against him. Fakorede, a lawyer, in his request for authorisation, with reference number: CB:3960/RVS/F-SARS/VOL.2/8, addressed to IGP, passed through the commissioner and dated May 15, said he wanted permission to institute legal action, seeking an injunction against the continuous publication of the false advertisements against him. The F-SARS said: “In the last one month, the Rivers State government has taken up paid advertisements on the front and inside pages of major national daillies in the country, alleging falsely that some staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), specifically one Mary Tunkoyo and Dr. C. Odekpe were assaulted by my person and I am presently engaging in the plotting, training, recruiting and arming of a special squad in Kaduna, Abuja and Port Harcourt, for the purpose of rigging the 2019 elections. “These allegations are not only false, but are very malicious, more so considering the fact that the so-called INEC report has been investigated extensively by the IGP’s Special Investigation Panel and I was completely and totally exonerated from blame, as the evidence of all the parties attest to our (F-SARS operatives’) good work of protecting INEC staff under attack. “It is my humble appeal that I be granted the authorisation of the IGP to seek an injunction against the malicious publications, which are causing irreparable damage to the image of the Nigeria Police Force, my reputation and the good name of my family.” Wike claimed Fakorede was indicted for the 2015 elections and rerun, and allegedly colluded with the All Progressives Congress (APC). The IGP’s December 7 letter of exoneration, signed by the Deputy Force Secretary 2, DCP M. C. Mukaddas, addressed to the then Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Fakorede, Akingbade Victor, read: “You will recall that you were queried for act of serious misconduct, vide letter: AP: 41985/FS/FHQ/ABJ/13 of March 9, 2017. The IGP has carefully considered your representation to the query and found that you are not blameable.” “He (IGP) has decided that you be exonerated and you are hereby so exonerated, with effect from December 5, 2017. You are to acknowledge receipt of this letter through the appropriate channel, please.” Wike, however, claimed page 66 of the report of INEC into the Rivers rerun indicted the F-SARS commander in Rivers, alleging that Fakorede was accused of hostage taking, hijack of electoral materials and physical attacks on INEC’s officials. Wike called on Rivers people and lovers of democracy to stand up and say no to any officer who would steal their votes and still assault the people. http://thenationonlineng.net/ig-orders-f-sars-chief-to-sue-rivers-govt/ |
