Music/Radio / Re: Who is The Best Music Video Director In Nigeria? by toluwalomo(m): 4:53pm On Jun 03, 2009 |
@showbobo, "Street Cred" shot in a studio" It's easy for you to just watch and criticize. You might benefit from behind the scene insight sometimes to know how these things work. Do you know whether the weather conditions where right for a shoot outdoors? Do you know if 9ce's budget was better accomdated indoors? Just because you expected the video to be a certain way and it was not, does not mean it lacks creativity. Anyways back to the post. Clarence is the IT man for now, his work ethic, his music and artiistic range, is superb. DJ tee has made too much money. He seems bored and bereft of creativity with the vids he put's out. Jude is a scam. The others are still on the come-up. |

Phero, used to go by the name Ice Ticks, belonged in the group Croc City Clique. The boi has always been hot. Plus he has that raspy rapper's voice, that makes you jus wanna listen to what he says. |
Religion / Should Churches Pay Taxes by toluwalomo(m): 10:10am On May 19, 2009 |
Churches paying taxes! This is what the Fashola administration is considering to do next. I know this administration needs funds to promote their "new lagos" project but this is absolutely ridiculous! |

@ chigo Nas on the other hand, sounds like anybody else. Sometimes, I mistake him for The Game except their different uses of vocabulary. Really? As per the females, Rah Digga formerly of Flip Mode is kinda ill. |
Music/Radio / Re: The Best Voices In Rap by toluwalomo(m): 12:47pm On May 12, 2009 |
Let's make this interesting. And go beyond the names and also include the reason why we feeling dem rapperz voices. Jadakiss is light years AHEAD of evry1 else. No females? |

Wat you like about Jigga's voice, sounds kinda shrill to me. Same with Nas. Just imagine if Nas or Jigga had a voice like Jada or Havoc! |
Music/Radio / Re: Eminem's Relapse Album - Initial Views! by toluwalomo(m): 5:36pm On May 11, 2009 |
It's funny when you expect Em to change his style cuz he's grown? Ain't that funny! Why don't you who have a problem with it move up to more "mature content"? Chris Brown has been singing love songs since he was 16. Brandy since she was 15. Mobb Deep have been putting out "I kill you if you cross me albums" since 1995. Jay-Z cocky raps. Canibus battle raps This is music man, not a political manifest. How old is Adams Sandler? Has he stopped his crappy comedy movies? He started with them and he will die wih them. 50 tried to be a little bit "personal" with Curtis and though it did well considering the hype, it's incomparable to his previous albums. When Em did Encore and took on some mature topics like Politics and Bush, people were like he fell off, he's not hungry no more. We were yelling for vintage Eminem -ish He puts that out now and in the same breath some of us are kicking the crap out of the album. Hate it or love it. Em just gave a dying game mouth-to-mouth, finally a worthy alternative from all that finger snapping -two step-beer guzzling-my watch is bigger than your yours rap. What he put out is still light years ahead of the imaginative mush that is hip hop today! At least somebody is thinking before he writes! Go Em! |
Music/Radio / The Best Voices In Rap by toluwalomo(m): 5:04pm On May 11, 2009 |
Don't get it twisted, I'm not looking for wack rappers with nice voices. Just trying to paint a vivid pix of what a good voice (sometimes) could do for vocal delivery sorta like an r 'n b singer. Well my picks. Method Man (without a doubt) Jadakiss (raspy and lyrically classy) Redman (over-the-top) Young Jeezy (lyrically not on dat level, but his voice makes you wanna listen to him) Mobb Deep: Havoc and Prodigy (tightest duo ever. I can easily pick a better rapper in as group not this one) Ja Rule 50 (beyond all the hype) an NY cat with a southern accent got me on " Get Rich and Die Trying" |

X-men Origins: Wolverine did not rep like the rest of the X-men franchise. Story line weak in my opinion albeit covered up via the action sequences. |
Business / Re: My Friend At GTBank Took 80,000 Naira From My Account by toluwalomo(m): 9:38am On Apr 16, 2009 |
Hmmm, It cud be frustrating not paying a debt and the debtor is actually looking at money sitting pretty in an account. Not justifying what she did, but with the benefit of hindsight, you should have just paid up. Consider it a game of compromise. She did wrong entering your account illegally, but you also bear a brunt of the blame, not paying up when you had the money to do so. Now you have paid (forcefully I must add) just let it go. Do not report her. You can tell her you did not like the means with which she got her money back. However, I doubt if that would hold water because you were trying to be smart yourself. 1 Like |
Music/Radio / Re: D'banj And Durella by toluwalomo(m): 11:26am On Mar 27, 2009 |
It's so easy to say that Durella is bitin' D'banj. Cuz he came out after D'banj and apparently D'banj has more popularity and cheddah. But I can tell you that I first D'banj in march 2004 and Durella his right hand man. In fact from afar off you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Both used to sport same jeans, same white singlets and sunglasses. Was anybody at an April 2004 show at Fantasy Land? D'banj was performing and Durella was giving him back-up! I have this stuff on tape! These cats go way back. It's funny they are now acting as if the don't know each other. I have seen D'banj's performances in the UK before he came to 9ja and it is nowhere where he is now. Whether he copied Durella or both of them were influenced by the same factors, i don't know But Durella has a very big part to play in the style we think is all D'banj. Big ups to him, trying to rise to the top by himself and not stirring up any stuff . |
Education / Uk Short Courses: What Type Of Visa by toluwalomo(m): 2:43pm On Mar 25, 2009 |
I actually plan to attend some short courses in the next few months. I thought a Study Visa would do just fine. But with the criteria below, I don't think so. The courses I plan to attend ARE NOT all these. a recognised full-time degree course or postgraduate studies, or a period of study and/or research in excess of 6 months where this forms part of an overseas degree course, or a course run during the week involving at least 15 hours of organised daytime study each week, or a full-time course at an independent fee-paying school. They range between 3 days to 2 months and run only once a week. What type of visa application am I looking at |

I must say, i was dissapointed with the ending of Unknown. People hyped this film and said it was in the league of Unusual Suspects I beg to differ. Based on the build up, i expected more. Checked out 23 , jim carey again y/day and I must say it had an impressive twist, he being the one who wrote the book in the end. But I wonder y his wife gave him the book as a present if she was trying to protect him from remembring stuff in the first place. |
TV/Movies / Re: Movies With Unpredictable Endings by toluwalomo(m): 8:09am On Mar 23, 2009 |
@bishoptboy Nollywood movie with an unpredictable ending? A cold day in hell before that happens. You can tell a story from watching the movie ad most times Sixth Sense was crazy one of the best unpredictable endings EVER! |
TV/Movies / Movies With Unpredictable Endings by toluwalomo(m): 3:30pm On Mar 20, 2009 |
We all like to think we can predict how a movie will end. The bad guy dies, the good guy wins and gets the girl blah, blah, blah, or something like that But there still some odd movies out there that shock with their unpredictable endings. For me Identity A movie by John Cusack and some other ppl. Starts like the usual with we all meet at the motel routine and there is someone stalking us and killing us one by one. Whilst I waited for the killer to be unmasked at the end, I found out that all the motel people were actually characters in the mind of a schizophrenic. And while being transported to an asylum he kills the doctor that saved him from being gassed! BUG One of the sickest movies I have seen, where someone absolutely insane CONVINCES a sane person to commit suicide with him to escape the clutches of a weird experiment-BUGS. What's yours? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QTR-FINAL DRAWS & PREDICTIONS: ARSENAL/BARCA IN THE FINAL!!!!! by toluwalomo(m): 2:40pm On Mar 20, 2009 |
In football you are only as good as your last game. So all that we say here can be FLUFF. But on paper, Arsenal should go through especially since they are away in the first leg. Man Utd will easily disperse Porto. Liverpool on current form can take any team apart, but this is a toughie, but i'll stick my neck out for Liverpool. Barca and Bayern that's the mouthwatering tie, Bayern of old would have been a tough nut to crack. But with the Klinnsman boys playing with attacking impetus, teams like Barca will fancy their chances. All these predictions can end up being crap in the end. But out of the 4 I predict to go through to the last 4: Arsenal, Man Utd , Liverpool and Barca. At least 2 teams will go through. I am too much of a football seer to lose out totally |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QTR-FINAL DRAWS & PREDICTIONS: ARSENAL/BARCA IN THE FINAL!!!!! by toluwalomo(m): 1:19pm On Mar 20, 2009 |

Barcelona vs Bayern Semi Finals (April 28th-29th, May 5th-6th, 2009) 5. Winner of Match 2 vs Winner of Match 1 6. Winner of Match 4 vs Winner of Match 3 Final (May 27th, 2009, Rome) Winner of Match 6 vs Winner of Match 5 I predict Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Barca making the semis And Arsenal Barca in the finals WITH ARSENAL WINNING THE CL TROPHY WHOOHOO!

Music/Radio / Re: Rap: Diss Lines That Make You Go Whoa! by toluwalomo(m): 12:04pm On Mar 17, 2009 |
@BAM Illest punchlines Illest diss lines, 2 different things. Punchlines are more about delivery, using explosive consonants and breaking/emphazing and even rhyming with syllables. What is said is supposedly secondary. Naturally, dissing is part of rap so you cannot divorce the fact that disslines will creep into the punchlines irrespective. But I am all for diss lines here, punchlines, rhymelines, rhyme-less lines just looking for creative and well crafted disses. |

There are sum tite diss lines, that just make you wonder to what length some people's lyrical creativity can take them. Not looking for songs. Even if the whole song is a dis track. Just look for the phrases that hit you the most! Don't forget to include the disser and the dissee The Takedown Jigga's diss at Nas "Went from, Nasty Nas to Esco's trash Had a spark when you started but now you're just garbage Fell from top ten to not mentioned at all to your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yours" Chei! Jay wound Nas there! "I showed you your first tec on tour with Large Professor Then I heard your album bout your tec on the dresser So yeah I sampled your voice, you was usin it wrong You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song" Another Blow Ether Nas response to Jigga's The Takedown We thought Nas wud not be able to do better! But men did he surprise us all! "You seem to be only concerned with dissin women Were you abused as a child, scared to smile, they called you ugly? Well life is harsh, hug me, don't reject me or make records to disrespect me, blatant or indirectly" Wow! Nas got him there! "Foxy got you hot 'cause you kept your face in her puss What you think, you gettin girls now 'cause of your looks?" Shit! "You a fan, a phony, a fake, a pussy, a Stan I still whip your ass, you thirty-six in a karate class You Tae-bo hoe, trynin'' work it out, you tryin' get brolic? Ask me if I'm trynin' kick knowledge Nah, I'm trynin' kick the shit you need to learn though That ether, that shit that make your soul burn slow" So sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!! |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: UCL: Arsenal(1) Vs Roma(0) Tuesday 24th February by toluwalomo(m): 3:24pm On Feb 23, 2009 |
Even if Fabby and co recover from injury, will they be able to play 90 minutes? Arsenal has been f-ing up when you count on them. See the barren draw at home to Sunderland. So if we don't have Fabby we cannot creatively open up a game once our opponents put the whole team behind the ball? At this rate, even I can coach a team in the Premier League and get a draw. I won't stick my neck out for this one. Arsenal's other name is unpredictablity. |
Music/Radio / Best Record Label Ever: Deathrow Versus Bad Boy by toluwalomo(m): 11:13am On Feb 16, 2009 |
The 90's was a period where the top notch artistes on both coasts happened to be under the same label. East coast Bad Boy had Biggie, Mase, 112, Total, Lox e.t.c. West Coast Deathrow had Pac, Dre, Snoop, Rage, Dogg Pound They made mad noise in dem days. Their music was everywhere. It was hit after hit. Which label do you think holds the crown as the best record label EVER? Deathrow or Bad Boy? |
Sports / What Is Really The Problem With Nigerian Football Commentators by toluwalomo(m): 4:35pm On Feb 12, 2009 |
I always try to avoid a Nigerian commentary for any football match. Why? Most Nigerian commentators really do not know what their job entails. They are always partisan in their views, hardly add excitement to the match and brag about beating opponents. Nigeria vs Jamaican was no different. The commentators were already yapping how Nigeria would whump Jamaica silly. When Jamaicans were playing the better football, rather than recognize this, they were urging Nigeria towards upping their game. And even when Taiye Taiwo and the Jamaican was shown a card, they lambasted the refeeree for a wrong call. Taiwo was more physical in the exchange with the players. And would have been sent off, if not the Jamaican player then pushed the official out of the way. Is this the way to go when analysing football. South American analysts are passionater about thier football but still maintain objectivity |
