The general assumption is that marriages should work, yet we never foresee that there are some characters that we have or that our spouses may have, that make the working of the marriage difficult.
The characters that I’ll mention below do not condemn your marriage to failure but they are an indication of how much work needs to be done and the skill set required:

1. Narcissistic People: Narcissists are people with no emotional capacity for empathy. Narcissism, is a character trait that can frustrate your efforts to communicate or to connect with your partner. You need a lot of guidance, wisdom and prayer to make a marriage work with a narcissist.

2. Lazy People: In marriage there are 2 types of lazy people:

a. There are those who are too lazy to actively participate in the marriage.

b. There are those who are too lazy to get up and work.

Either way, being married to a lazy person is difficult as it means you will do all the work.

3. Selfish People: It is difficult to make a marriage work with a person who can never sacrifice for the good of the marriage. But when it comes to what is personal, what is theirs, what involves them, they are willing to pay the price. Selfish people are difficult in marriage because they always think about themselves and marriage is not designed for such characters.

4. Childish People: Marriage is not for children. Childish people are the people who refuse to grow up in a relationship. They throw childish tantrums, are very petty and they cannot live independent of their parents. Navigating the future with such a character requires you to make the decision to parent them throughout the relationship.

5. Complainers: These are the most emotionally tiring or draining people to be married to. They are like a bottomless pit. They can never be satisfied. Life is always unfair to them. To make a relationship work with a complainer, don’t take their complaining to heart. Reconcile with what you can do, and what you cannot do.

6. War-Lords: These are people who are conflict oriented by nature. They will use silent treatment, cold war, abusive language, anything that it would take to get them to a point of conflict. To make a marriage work with a war-lord, you must understand their internal conflict then you can navigate to their external conflict.

7. Male & Female Chauvinists: For a marriage to work, there ought to be mutual respect for the genders involved. A difficult marriage is a marriage to a person who tries to impose gender superiority. They will never allow the marriage to have respect. They will always be fighting to put the other person down.

8. Secretive People: This covers more than half of most marriages. Marriage was designed to be open, without any secrets and secrecy is an enemy to intimacy. Therefore, it is difficult to have a thriving marriage with a secretive person because they are difficult to trust and you just can’t connect with them.

9. Pathological Liars: Lying in itself is an annoying thing and dealing with a pathological liar is frustrating because they are more loyal to lying than they are to the relationship. Pathological liars lie even when the evidence advises that speaking the truth would be better. They are annoying because they mock your intelligence and at times complicate what naturally would have been simple.

10. Religious Fanatics: It is good to be spiritual and it is good to believe in God, but being married to a religious fanatic, that is, a person who spiritualists every single issue. They spend 99% of their time ignoring their relationship and hiding in religious activities. They are self-righteous and very judgemental

2. He includes you in his plans and tells you his aspirations and plans he’s working on. A man who loves you will first of all always include you in his plans, this shows that you have a part in his future. A man who hides his plan for you probably doesn’t trust you and don’t forget trust is essential in Relationships.
3. He tries his level best to understand you even when you act moody or unreasonable. A man who loves you will always try to think From your perspective. He would want to see things the same way you see them, just to please you. He will even try and understand when you suddenly change to him. He won’t get jealous and start some useless assumptions, he will understand you are just moody for the main time.

4. He makes time for you and makes it worth it. He makes you feel loved by creating time for you despite his busy schedule. Let me be honest with you, if someone is telling you he’s very busy and doesn’t have time for you, it’s because you don’t worth his time. This is because people tend to give time for those they love and those important to them.
5 He gives you what you need and sometimes gives you what you want. I will like to clarify this because I’m sure some ladies are happy seeing this. A man will give you what you need if he has and if you deserve it. Ladies atimes force men to do illegal jobs or steal because they would always want what he can’t afford. As a man, never steal to satisfy your woman. If she’s not okay with the little, she should leave the relationship. That’s only if the little you do give her is what you had.
6. His close friends and family know you even before you’ve met them and some of them gossip to you about the nice things he said about you. A man who loves you will introduce you to the right set of people. 7. He loves you not only your beautiful body but also your personality and you as a person. Beauty will get you a man but can’t keep a man.
8. From childhood most guys are trained to not be emotional or to cry but to man up and face challenges but if the guy shows his vulnerable side to you don’t mock him or make fun of him. Infact consider yourself to be very lucky. Men don’t feel much emotions unlike women, that’s why most people think men cheat most but it isn’t that true.
9. He gets a bit jealous when you laugh at his guy friends jokes and when you get close to his friends. Jealousy is also a sign that a man loves you though not all men get jealous. However, a man should be careful of being too jealous because it ruins Relationships.
10. He’d never lay a hand on you or even verbally, emotionally abuse you. A man who loves you won’t dare to raise his hand to beat you. This is why I find it funny When some ladies are already getting beaten by their boyfriends who hasn’t married them yet. This shows that he’s a potential future wife beater.
