Holla me too bro. I like this kind of outing. Had something like this with a female friend 3 years back at Badagry beach. It was fun gisting all through the night under the tent with nice view and sound of the ocean. The wave was so strong that night and the cold was just too much. Had to off my suit to cover my girl who was also enjoying every moment.

Travel / A Nairalander shares Hangout at Omu Resort by tourismlove: 2:07pm On Apr 24, 2019
I teamed up with a group of tourists, adventure lovers (most of who are nairalanders) and their families for a hangout at Omu Resort. It is located in Bogije Lagos State.

A brief description; Omu Resort is set in a rainforest environment, it allows guests experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature. Nestled in a peaceful neighbourhood, occupying a land area of approximately 22 hectares and boarded to the North by the imposing clear waters of Omu Creek. It is a multihub fun spot for family and friends as it combines adventure, nature and history all together in one. With the wide range of activities on offer, there is never a dull moment.

Enough of description, now to our hangout experience; the team set out for Omu Resort from Surulere at 9:45am. The journey was an exciting one; everyone got to introduce themselves and talk about what they do. Our tourguide

also gave us a brief talk on tourism, conservation and relaxation. After this, we played some games in the bus. The journey was smooth and gridlock free. 54 of us embarked on this hangout.

We got to Omu Resort within an hour ten minutes. After registering and paying the required fees, we started off with a tour of the zoo. We saw the lion, hyenas, snakes, horses, peacocks, porcupines, donkeys, tortoise, civet, monkeys, wide variety of birds and fresh lush vegetation. Honestly we saw a lot of animals but I cannot remember them all. After the tour, we visited the Antique museum where we saw a lot of old artifacts, old currencies, old music and other cool old stuffs. We also had a quick stop at the wax museum.

By this time we were already getting hungry, so we all decided to go to our tent and have our sumptuous meal. After this was games games games. Some started by swimming at the pool, others played at the Amusement Park, the rest partook in Go-Karting, Archery, Minigolf, Horse Riding, Quad Biking, Kayaking and DDT Paintball. We also played a lot of board games too.

Before we left, it was announced that the lion would be fed a life goat by 4pm, so we all decided to go see the king of the jungle tear apart a life goatJ. It was a gory sight.

At around 5pm after so much fun, it was time to depart the fun filled resort; but before we left we decided to take a final group picture on the sand pyramid of tyres.

It was indded an awesome hangout. This is just a brief summary of the full experience.

PROS
- There are a lot of fun attractions at the resort
- The staff are very friendly and helpful
- The facility is also very clean and properly maintained
- It’s also a very secure resort

CONS
- The resort is a bit far, especially if you are coming from the mainland
- The road leading directly to the resort is also bad
- Omu resort is also a bit expensive and does not give discounts no matter the number of people you go with, unless you book on their website and you only get a very minute discount.

Enough of talking let our pictures do the remaining talking.

Have a look at a few of our previous hangouts

Travel / A Nairalander Shares Overnight Camping At Lufasi Park Lekki by tourismlove: 4:09pm On Feb 28, 2019
Once again I teamed up with my good friend Koyejo Sofoluwe(@KINGFISHEREcHo) and a group of tourists for an overnight camping experience at Lufasi Park. We had our last overnight camping experience at Enukunmi Eleko Beach, you can read more about it here https://www.nairaland.com/4943290/nairalander-shares-overnight-beach-camping

This time around it was Lufasi Park. A brief history; Lufasi stands Lekki Urban Forest and Animal Sanctuary Initiative. Lufasi was founded on the 4th January 2013, by Mr. Desmond Majekodunmi as a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to actively participate in the protection and preservation of natural habitats in urban areas as well as to play an active role in the realization of sustainable development programs in Nigeria.

LUFASI has pristine Forest Reserve and Nature Park that sits on 20hectres along the Lekki-Epe Expressway with a nature-themed leisure play-park and animal sanctuary.

Enough of history, now to our camping experience; the team set out for Lufasi from Alagomeji at 3:50pm. The journey was an exciting one; everyone got to introduce themselves and talk about what they do. The journey was smooth and gridlock free.

We got to Lufasi Park within an hour. We started off with a quick tour of the park. We saw the horses, donkeys, tortoise, African civet and wide variety of birds, monkeys and fresh lush vegetation. Honestly we saw a lot of animals but I cannot remember them all. After the tour, we proceeded further into the forest in picking a camp site.

On selecting a camp site, it was now time to set up tents, drop our bags, set up the camp fire and prepare dinner.

After all was said and done, it was time to get down to the business of the day. We played a lot of games, danced, sang, karaoke, ate and networked. Our facilitator also gave us a talk on the importance of spending time in the forest. Here are some of the things He said; camping in the forests helps
- Lower stress levels
- Lower blood pressure
- Increased immunity to sickness
- Increased inner peace and happiness

We all finally slept around 4am but were all up by 8am for a forest walk and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku). Forest bathing simply means taking in the forest atmosphere. After our forest bathing, we returned to our camp site to have our breakfast, played some more games, had a talk on the preservation of the ecotourism and finally decamped at 12noon.

Learning Points
- Forest camping is a fun activity and should be greatly encouraged.
- Other parks in Nigeria should also encourage overnight camping by tourists.
- Stop illicit bush burning.
- Nigeria needs to utilize her forest resources more.

I leave you with these quotes of Albert Einstein “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better”.

Let our pictures do the remaining talking.
