Travel / Re: Paying "Travel / Visa Agents" - Beware! by travelcare: 6:17pm On Mar 05, 2009
I have been so busy for quite a while even till this moment. This topic is quite interesting and I would have loved to open my mind like a TV set for people to watch if it had been possible.

With the few reactions I have been able to read so far with respect to the original post by Siena, I discovered that some posters are 'follow-follow' and would always say yes when people say yes and no when people say no.

Yes! agreed, many agents on Nairaland are fake and one should be careful dealing with them. Clearly, and I guess, most Nairalanders are matured people and adults who have different perspectives for different issues. It should be in our minds that you can dig out a piece of gold from a refuse dump. The judgment so far on agents here have been one-sided not taking into consideration few other factors. We have forgotten that in every system throughout the world, there is a 'backdoor'. It exists! By BACKDOOR, I mean there is a short-cut.

I was involved in a deal with a visa officer which I met my accident while on youth service in 2004 (I wouldnt like to go into details of the story as this is public). Things worked fine as we engaged in a deal which lasted only for about 3 months. I thought it would be forever and all of a sudden, the officer was moved out of the country and I was not informed. I got a job from a client which resulted in a disappointment. I explained to her (my client), and she understood. I returned her funds according to initial agreement.

Since that time I have learnt to do the homework properly for my clients in conformity with the standard required by the respective embassy and things have been working out. We, at Travelcare, always state to our clients at the initial stage that "we are not the embassy but we'll do it the way the embassy requires". Some people are first-timers and would require information which ought to be free from experienced professionals as a guide for them so that they dont 'dive into a river which the depth is unknown to them'. Some visa officers of most foreign embassies in Nigeria are VERY corrupt but they live the life of a masquerade and only their agents know them. They have people who work for them, you MUST believe it because they exist. If you are lucky to get them and you have all it takes, you may get the visa but how would you identify the man behind the mask?

Sometimes, people would say "I have been duped!", "the agent collected my money and nothing was done", and so on. Careful look at most of those cases, you'll discover that that person was not actually duped. Maybe, the process was just a trial and error which eventually resulted into visa refusal and the money spent like, visa fee and others which would normally be spent if the individual was to do it himself would now be termed fraud.

My advice to potential travelers is that they should be wise in their dealings with agents. If anyone says he's going to get you a visa with or without advance payment and it would be ready within few days, it could be false. Most people are led astray due to their overzealous gestures and too much desperation to get out of Nigeria. A word is enough for the wise.

I know that this post will generate further reactions from aggrieved nairalanders, they are entitled to their own opinion but I believe I have hit the nail on the head, you cannot rule out 'back door' in every system. However, I am prepared for any attacks and mockery from different angles - it is the strength I need to improve my service and to prove that if a Lagosian is bald-headed, it does not mean all Lagosians are bald-headed.

Travel / Re: Study Permit For Graduate Certificate - Canada by travelcare: 5:33pm On Feb 25, 2009
Why not? Just make sure you do your homework properly. I believe it would be stated in the offer letter that the graduate certificate programme will lead to a master degree upon successful completion. Go ahead and make your applications but make sure:

* you have a genuine intention which will tell from your supporting documents
* you are applying at least 3 months prior to the school's start date
* you are prepared for interview if the need be in the course of treating your application

However, for professional advice/assistance you may contact Travelcare consults via email: travelcare.consults@gmail.com or call 016663625 or if very urgent you can call Olawale on 08023809767 or better still come to our office: Travelcare Consults, Akinola A. I wont congratulate you until you you are able 'sail through the storm on the river' at the embassy. We have seen cases of counter appeal such that an appeal has already been allowed (in favour of the appellant) and a new case cropped up. The appeal was allowed but instead of calling the appellant to come for the visa, he was given a letter where it was mentioned that the visa section has reviewed the 'allowed appeal' and a fresh appeal form was enclosed along side a new refusal notice. The new refusal notice showed that the application was retrieved and treated as a fresh application and it was NOW alleged that the appellant has a case to answer on one of the documents used in support of the application. There are many more of these cases we have received at our legal department but to cut it short, it is not over until it is over!

You can write visa.lagos@fco.gov.uk for updates about your appeal. But make sure you always pray for a divine favour.

[qThe English Kingdom has always relied on his conquest far and wide to sustain their economy, Africa, Asia, Caribbeans, its all the same.
The call for a boycott remains a dream chasing a NIGERIAN reality. cool

A new form of colonization. They will always depend on the resources of Africa for their own development yet they claimed to be a developed country. The content of your post shares my view/opinion on this UK Visa thing. To all new comers and potential travelers, I would NOT advise you to boycott, just keep trying, who knows when you'll win that thing that seems like 'baba ijebu lotto' to some people, do your home-work properly and pray. @ Poster,

Your information lacks genuineness as you did not specify the source of your information. This could mislead the public in their judgment and could lead to other issues that could end up where we never expected. It wont cost you anything, give us a link to the source so that such information can be verified and proper reaction can be expressed. Like it happened in Unilag in 2002 when a non-student  of Unilag was injured by policemen at Bariga and was reported as a student of Unilag. Lack of solid information and impatience of the Unilag Student Union led to a fracas with the police at Bariga but what happened in the end? A bonafide Unilag student lost his life in the fracas! Lets watch it, this is public, inaccurate and incomplete information can be as disastrous as a dynamite dropped at the market square.

Travel / If You Were The Visa Officer: by travelcare: 11:15am On Jan 14, 2009
Getting visas or entry clearance or other tavel documents as the case may be, to most foreign countries especially the Europe and the Americas all depends absolutely on each country's Immigration Policies. If certain number of people would be allowed entry into the United Kingdom for a particular period, for instance, and the number of application received for that period exceeds the figure in place, what do you think would happen, given all things being equal that 90% of the total application are faultless and qualified for the travel documents?

I have said it in some posts I made in the past that foreing embassies around the gerographical location of Nigeria are only making money from the desperate Nigerians who are eager to travel abroad for greener pastures. It wouldnt cost them anything if they tell the potential applicants that visas wont be available for a specified period of time but they still go ahead and accept the application and then come out with excuses for refusing the application. It is nothing but a scam, a daylight robbery and an absolute stealing by trick '419'. The sluggish government of Nigeria has nothing to do about this. No wonder some people never want to return to Nigeria even when they can come back to renew their travel documents simply because of the fear of refusal.

Would you blame this foreigners for this? Ofcourse, civilization got us away from the hell of slavery, a time when oil was never discovered in Nigeria. Now, they have come back to get a share of our national cake by exploiting us of our hard-earned money telling us it is not refundable even when they already predetermined not to give out the visa.

Come to think of it ooo, if you were in the position of the visa officer, what would you do? would you issue out the visa you dont have?

@Sonye

The balance on your account matters as it must cover the cost of your overall expenses and a reasonable balance must be left if the account is not dedicated for your purpose. Your sponsor cannot exhaust his/her account for that purpose. Sometimes, Visa officer may want to consider the flow in and out of the account. If it flows reasonable with more credits over debit but the balance still matters. I already stated that a bad account balance is one that the last sum lodged into the account is same as the credit balance. There must have been an appropriate transaction which will result to a reasonable flow and balance. That is, the balance must accumulate over time within transaction.

You can have a double sponsor BUT the your relationship with the sponsors is something you have to prove with documentary evidence NOT just "he's my cousin" or whatever. Make sure your documents are scrutinised by an immigration expert or someone who has an indepth knowledge of the embassy you are trying to send your application to. If you have more questions feel free to contact Travelcare Consults via email: travelcare.consults@gmail.com or call Olawale on 08023809767. Thank you.

Let the professionals assist you on your travel needs. Having millions of naira in your bank account is a secondary criterium in assessing your visa applications. Having put necessary things place, you must show proof for the funds in your account especially with supporting documentations like your employment payslips, or assets documents or other documents which will show how you got the money into your account. The inflow of funds into your account matters and a bad account is one that has, for instance, that 2million naira in account lodged in at once. the account must have a reasonable inflow and outflow.

Romance / Re: What's Wrong With Him? Is He Shy Or What? by travelcare: 11:05am On Oct 29, 2008
Why is everyone saying the guy is shy? and only one person tries to distinguish himself from others but in a NOT funny way. He talks about bad breath (smelling mouth), does this make him the Julius Agu of naiaralnd or what?

Why don't we look at the whole situation this way, how about if what the guy is thinking about Bgal is contrary to what everyone including Bgal is thinking?

@Bgal

It seems you already jumped into conclusion about the guy, and if you do, why don't you help him out by 'toasting' him? How long will a mad man live that you want to take care of him for 50 years?
Travel / The Uk Oil Well In Nigeria by travelcare: 12:17pm On Oct 15, 2008
I was stunned at my discovery when I took a little time out on the 14th of August this year at the UK VFS Victoria Island. I found my way into the VFS pretending to be among those submitting applications I was led to the fact that the British Mission in Nigeria has long discovered its OIL WELL in Nigeria. The British Government would not be needing the services of Geologists digging into the nuke & crany of the Royal fields in the UK in search of oil. They don't need a 'Niger Delta' to become the world's richest country. All they need is the non-appearance style adopted in 2004 or thereabout which has opened opportunities for those who found it difficult facing the whiteman in a visa interview, no wonder we now have 'agbero' cruzing the streets of London in grand style after extorting money from transport drivers.

They have taken the advantage of the desperate Nigerian youths and even the fraustrated old ones who prefer to go abroad packing 'shit' with pay enough to fill their hungry stomach to ease anger from their faces to just roaming the streets with bleak future.

Ooops! I left my research analysis in the office, I have to come back and edit this. But just know it that the British Mission in Nigeria make an average of N6,000,000 daily from the non refundable visa fees gathered from desperate potential travelers (do the calculations for a month and for a year an u go open mouth) only to tell them "I am satisfied to a high degree of probability that the documents you submitted are false (even when no verification was made), therefore, you failed to meet the requirments of paragragh 57 + 320 HC390" or console them with 'EL CUERPO DEL DESEO' abi na second chance we go call am, that is, APPEAL. If God help you, you fit win.

How much of those millions made daily get into our lazy government's pocket? they are too busy with power sharing problems, niger-delta problem and the worst, looting our rich treasury, abi, where abacha loot dey today? them don share am. Graduates and non employed youths of this country get provoked and would do anything to survive,  bad legacy. If you reach that post in government tomorrow, wetin u sef go do, begin loot?

Abeg, i dey come.

This is bombastic! this is a good Nigerian student abroad at least we all got the message (at the end of his post). Are you a good ambassador of the Nigerian education system, Mr Dokpesi? No! Dont say your parents didnt have the money to give you fair education, think of what you can do to help yourself and you can only improve by associating with the right peer group. Keep a clean sheet and keep Nigeria out of mess.

@stechi

You can only mail Kentucky, check your pack for the email address as I don't have it here right now. Treating your application depends on your case number, if you have a very high digit, you may have to wait longer and especially if you were single as at the time of playing the lottery and your status has changed when the result is out. Your application cannot be destroyed or thrown into the bin, you will attend the interview even if there will be a refusal (God forbid). So, make sure you mail the Kentucky consular centre, they will reply you, but make sure you quote your case number in your enquiry. You do not need to go to the embassy, you have no business there for now. I wish you goodluck.
