The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has at the eve of the New Year arrested Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna central.

An EFCC source said Sani was arrested for collecting money from a businessman, promising to pass it on to Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman  of the anti-graft agency.

According to a source, Sani was arrested for alleged extortion of $20,000 from the owner of ASD Motors.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has explained why the Buhari government didn’t order the release of Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

The AGF spoke in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC on Thursday.

Shina Peller, the House of Reps member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency,  has been released by the Police.

He was released on bail after his case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

Umar Pariya, a close aide of Atiku Abubakar, presidential Candidate of the People Democratic Party PDP, in the last General Election is dead.

Pariya served Atiku during his time as Vice-President and has remained in his close circles.

The Appeal Court on Tuesday, upheld the election of Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

The court delivered the judgment following an appeal filed by the Action Alliance, All Progressives Grand Alliance, AA, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenging the election of Ihedioha.

All appellants argued in their appeals that Ihedioha did not obtain the constitutionally required one-quarter of votes cast in at least, two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state, as provided under Section 179 of the Constitution.

They urged the court to set aside the decision of the tribunal and declare them winner of the election.

Barely 96 hours after landing in New Delhi for medical treatment, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem el-Zakzaky, has reportedly discharged himself from the Medenta Hospital and is now on his way back to Nigeria.

The President, Media Forum of IMN, Ibrahim Musa, said that El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, who were airborne as of the time of speaking with our Correspondent on Thursday evening, left New Delhi around 5:00 p.m. Nigerian time, heading back to the country.



Musa, in a statement, blamed the Federal Government for scuttling the IMN leader’s planned treatment.

Musa said, “Following lack of a breakthrough in the impasse that ensued in the treatment in New Delhi of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, it is now confirmed that the Sheikh is on his way back to Abuja.


“In a video message sent through his office, the Sheikh said it was decided that they will be taken to the airport to be flown back to Nigeria.
