Manchester United are considering a five-year deal for AC Milan’s Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, 26.

Liverpool target David Alaba could be set for a move after talks with Bayern Munich collapsed. The Austrian defender, 28, is out of contract with Bayern in January.

Liverpool face competition from AC Milan for the signature of Schalke’s Turkish centre-back Ozan Kabak, 20.

Tottenham’s hopes of agreeing a new contract with forward Son Heung-min, 28, have been boosted after the South Korean joined the same agency as manager Jose Mourinho. However, Mourinho says that will have no influence on Son’s ongoing contract talks.

Sports / Donny Van De Beek Will Play Big, Big Part - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by WinningGoals10: 12:45pm On Oct 28
Donny van de Beek will play a "big, big part" for Manchester United this season said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who defended his decision to use the £35m summer signing sparingly so far.

The midfielder has only started in two of his seven appearances - both in the EFL Cup - and he did not feature in last weekend's 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

"It says a lot about our depth of quality that we don't have to use him in every game, it says it all about our ambitions," said Solskjaer.

During the news conference building up to Wednesday's match against RB Leipzig, the Norwegian boss highlighted that his side would be playing a game every two or three days and that he would need to make use of his whole squad.

Sports / People Forget I'm 28 - Jack Wilshere On Leaving West Ham And His Next Move by WinningGoals10: 12:16pm On Oct 26
Jack Wilshere says he had to leave West Ham because he couldn't face the prospect of a year on the sidelines with no hope of playing.

Wilshere's Hammers contract was terminated by mutual consent on transfer deadline day, bringing an end to an unhappy two-year spell at the club he supported as a boy.

The 28-year-old made just 19 appearances after leaving Arsenal in 2018. He hasn't started a Premier League game since August 2019 and admits he is in danger of being forgotten.

But the England midfielder is adamant he has much more to give and is pushing his body through training sessions at his local park to keep himself fit as he looks for a new club.

Speaking at an interview, Wilshere outlined the frustrations of recent months, his determination to find "the right club" and the demands of looking after four kids.

Sports / Ronaldo Better Than Messi But I’m Greatest Player Ever - Pele by WinningGoals10: 3:20pm On Oct 25
Brazilian legend Pele has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi but insisted that he is still the greatest footballer of all time.

Pele,79, who holds Guinness World Record as top scorer of all time, doesn’t think that both stars quite live up to his greatness.

Telling YouTube channel Pilhado, Pale said: “Today the best player in the world is Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think he’s the best, because he’s more consistent. You can’t forget about [Lionel] Messi, of course, but he’s not a striker.”

Ronaldo, 35, has scored an astonishing 725 goals in 1000 total games over the course of his glittering career.

But Messi, two years his junior, also boasts an amazing record, having bagged 697 goals in 856 games, despite – as Pele points out – not being a centre-forward.

Mikel joined the Potters on a free contract in the summer after severing ties with Turkish club Trabzonspor.

The midfielder has played every minutes of Stoke City’s Championship games this season.

” John’s been good and I think with every game he gets better. We knew it would take him a bit of time having not played since March. He was not going to come in and be straight up to speed,” O’Neil.

“But I think he has done exceptionally well to get through 90 minutes as often as he has done and I think with each 90 minutes we see an improvement in his level of performance.

Sports / Pique Criticizes Barcelona Ahead Of El Clasico Clash by WinningGoals10: 8:14am On Oct 24
Defender Gerard Pique has criticised Barcelona for their handling of Lionel Messi's contract situation, on the eve of El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Forward Messi requested a transfer this summer, believing he could leave for free according to a clause in his deal.

The club's all-time leading scorer ultimately opted to stay, partly to avoid a potential court case.

"We should preserve our figureheads, not underappreciate them," Pique told La Vanguardia newspaper.

"It's all too confrontational. What's going on? Messi deserves everything; the new stadium should be named after him first and then the sponsor.

On Tuesday Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo called his country's government "a shame to the world".

There have been weeks of protests in Nigeria with mostly young people demanding the disbandment of a notorious police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Sports / Media Starting To Go After Greenwood - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by WinningGoals10: 3:36pm On Oct 23
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the English media are starting to "go after" Mason Greenwood.

The forward has missed United's last two games amid speculation he has repeatedly turned up late for training.

This follows on from being dropped from the England squad for his well-publicized indiscretion during the team's trip to Iceland in September.

"Mason made a mistake this summer with England and suddenly the whole English press go after him," said Solskjaer.

"I have to disappoint you [media], he is never late for training. He is never a problem when he is on the training ground. He is always on time. I have seen the stories and some ex-United players talking about him and they don't know what they are talking about.

Sports / Messi Could Be Playing Better - Koeman by WinningGoals10: 2:32pm On Oct 20
Lionel Messi's performances "could be better" but the Barcelona captain is "happy", says new manager Ronald Koeman.

Argentina forward Messi, 33, tried to leave the club this summer and called the transfer saga "a brutal drama".

He has scored once so far this season.

"I don't have any complaints or doubts about his effort," said Koeman, whose side open their Champions League campaign against Ferencvaros on Tuesday (20:00 BST kick-off).

"Right now his performances could be better. On a day-to-day basis, he's happy and wants to play and be the team's captain."

Messi is in the final year of his contract and will come up against Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo in Group G of this season's Champions League, a competition they have not won since 2015.

Sports / We Feel Like We Have To Score Three Or Four Each Game - Cesar Azpilicueta by WinningGoals10: 1:47pm On Oct 20
Chelsea's defensive issues are so bad that they need to score several goals each game to stand a chance of winning, says captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

They have conceded nine times in five Premier League games this season and were 2-0 and 3-2 up against Southampton on Saturday before drawing 3-3.

Last month Chelsea came from 3-0 down to draw against West Brom.

"When you're weak defensively sometimes we feel like we have to score three or four each game," Azpilicueta said.

"I see football as a collective. When we don't score, as a defender I think how can we put our attacking players in better situations.

"Through a season you are not going to be winning 3-0 or 4-0 every week. You have to work to get results and at the moment we have to improve that."

Sports / Monday Transfer Gossips: Sancho, Traore, Gomes, Dybala by WinningGoals10: 1:17pm On Oct 19
Manchester United have been given hope a deal for Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho, 20, can still be done after they ‘misjudged’ their summer approach.

United are also targeting Sporting Lisbon’s 16-year-old Luis Gomes. The Portuguese midfielder has been dubbed ‘the next Luis Figo’ in his homeland.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says the club must sign a new centre-back after Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk, 29, was injured against Everton.

The Reds have been boosted by the news that goalkeeper Alisson, 28, is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shoulder injury and the Brazilian could return before the end of the month.

France midfielder N’Golo Kante, 29, has no intention of leaving Chelsea any time soon despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Jose Mourinho says he understands why his name does not appear in Arsene Wenger’s autobiography My Life in Red and White, which was recently launched.

Mourinho and Wenger shared an explosive and bitter rivalry, especially in the years when the Portuguese first arrived at Chelsea in 2004.

Wenger’s Arsenal were the best team in the country, having just created history by winning the Premier League title unbeaten in the 2003/2004 season.

Mourinho took the title from Arsenal in his first season to make Chelsea champions for the first time in 50 years and made a habit of flinging insults in the direction of Wenger as his team dominated for two years.

A sporting judge has now awarded the three points to champions Juve as well as sanctioning Napoli with a point.

Napoli later said they are appealing against the decision. "Napoli confidently awaits the outcome of the appeal, firmly believing in justice," the club posted on Twitter.
