Major Hamza Al-Mustapha needs no introduction. The Nguru, Yobe State (North-East) born military intelligence officer became popular as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha. He was also respected for his wit and intelligence. He held the position between 1993 and 1998 when his boss, Abacha, died, Worldtopnewsng reports.

Following Abacha’s death, Major Al-Mustapha was removed from office by the transitional government of General Abdulsalami Abubakar. However, due to various allegations leveled against him, including the alleged murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Al-Mustapha faced several probe panels and was incarcerated for about 15 years. Along the line, he was convicted and sentenced to death in 2012. Nevertheless, as fate would have it, in July 2013, the Court of Appeal in Lagos overturned the death sentence judgment and acquitted al-Mustapha of the murder charges of Kudirat Abiola. The Supreme Court later confirmed his innocence.

From then Al-Mustapha did not leave anybody in doubt that he really meant business, as he traversed the length and breadth of the country, canvassing for votes, selling his manifestoes, and delivering lectures.

According to the President of NHS, Prof. Ayodele Omotosho, and Secretary of the body, Kolawole Wahab, in a joint statement yesterday, said hypertension, also known as High Blood Pressure (HPB), remains “the number one cause of preventable death worldwide.”

The statement described hypertension as a condition in which there is sustained elevation of blood pressure above a threshold of 140 mmHg systolic and 90 mmHg diastolic in adults.

It said: “Unfortunately, hypertension only announces its presence in most people after development of complications like stroke, heart failure, heart attack or kidney failure. The social and economic tolls of these complications on immediate families and the nation at large are enormous.

On May 13, the INEC office in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State was gutted by fire.

The incident occurred only days after INEC’s office in Ohafia local government area of Abia State was torched by unknown arsonists.

Most of the badly behaved youths are products of dysfunctional families with bad role models from childhoods. The constitution is also a big issue among other elephants in the room. As a local government chairman constitutionally you are the Chief Security Officer of the council. But that is just in name and not in reality.
