Hey 🤠

1. Those schools you applied to will never respond positively to you because you have not even submitted 45% of the graduate admissions requirements.

2. Even the conditional offer letter you are seeking won't be granted to you until they receive your unofficial transcripts which is not even available to you right now .

3. You do not actually need your certificate to apply but the most important of your academic documents which the USA schools are waiting for is your transcripts which won't be available to you until after graduation .

4. You won't be deported from the UK if you do not entangle yourself in trouble and USA is not running away. Therefore , cool down till after graduation and process Spring 2025 admissions with complete credentials .

5. Eventhough you have to come back to Nigeria after graduation, you have already achieved the feat of graduating from a UK institution which will make the USA embassy trust your post graduation story.

6. Attempting to obtain your credentials from your present school in the UK prematurely may result in incomplete or inaccurate cgpa gradings .

7. You have a cool international academic profile already (after graduation). Don't ruin your USA F1 visa opportunity with conditional admission. Don't settle for less.

Best Wishes 🙏

Thank you so much I appreciate your help. I will wait for my transcript to be ready . 🙏

Hi Guy's, Thanks to y’all that take time out to help people here.
I’m currently in the US on a J-2 and plan to come home for my Dad’s funeral, I filled my DS-160 some days ago but all I’ve been seeing is “there are currently no available appointments’.
Is there a way to get around that?
Also, I think I’m eligible for a Dropbox as my visa expired less than 48months ago but I also haven’t gotten any confirmation email based on what I’ve read that one will get that first if eligible.
Do you think changing the venue from Lagos to Abuja might be of any help?

Hey 🤠

1. You are not the real person in this situation , and if you are the person, then you don't understand the kind of visa you got .

2. USA J2 visa is a dependent of J1 visa holder and J1/J2 visa holders must return to their country of origin after the J1 (main applicant) program. Not only that, you must stay in your country of origin for straight 2 years without traveling abroad ( J1 visa holder and USA govt agreement) or applying for USA visa that can springboard you for PR.

3. Although, you can apply for the waiver of the compulsory 2 years - stay at home policy but you can only do that while in the USA or apply for extension of J2 visa if you can prove awaiting danger at home etc .

4. You are already illegal in the USA and i doubt if the USA embassy will take you serious again because you have only 30 days to stay behind after your J2 visa expiration.

5. Your question here is like trying to renew J2 visa in Nigeria via drop box while you are still in the USA . Pick your Nigerian P and come home , you don't need any visa for that. The main J1 visa holder can't even renew the J1 visa from Nigeria not to talk of J2. You are late my friend .

Best Wishes 🙏

@oyotunjiUSA, I don’t know you Sir and I wonder how you can authoritatively tell me of my case.
Like I requested, people who are in the know of my situation can please help when they are ready.
You having a J2 doesn’t in any way mean you can’t travel without your J1 spouse.
Being in the US for 3 years under J2 status is not illegal in any way. My spouse is about to finish the first 3 years of residency next month and has been admitted into Harvard for another 2years of fellowship.
I have a DS-2019 and EAD that are both valid. It is renewed every year right here in the US.
If you can’t contribute positively pls just skip the question.
For your information, people renew J1/J2 visas anywhere outside of the US and they usually use Mexico and Canada. I only decided to use Nigeria because I have a valid reason to be in Nigeria and didn’t want to go through the stress of going to Canada or Mexico and the fact that my Dad’s death was sudden.

Hey 🤠

1. You posted question in a public forum which i responded to as my right . Even if your wife got admitted into Cambride i can still teach both of you various visa rules . You are just a student in the United States.

2. J1 visa is a USA government exclusively initiated visas with strong rules . Why are you asking about drop-boxing when you have successfully being renewing your J2 cripple visa via DS- 2019 ?

3. Truth is bitter , let's wait and read from the experts who will come and write otherwise. Say the truth about your current illegal standings in the USA. You cannot renew or extend that your J2 in Nigeria .

4. As a J2-visa holder , you will continue as a puppet of your wife (on J1-visa) and if your new Harvard admission is genuine then her visa benefit also extends to you except if you are trying a trick that cannot work behind your wife.

Best Wishes 🙏

Hi Man, you are the one that knows little to nothing about J1/j2 visas.
When you come in with your one year visa, the airport guys stamp you in with a D/S written on your passport. That means you are legal for as long as your studies permit.
Now, when you are done you can decide to look for a program in an area that qualifies an underserved area which would allow you waive the 2 year return policy. I have several guys that have done this that I know one on one.
When you finish residency, you can then decide to apply for Fellowship which further elongates your initial study time to 5 years from 3 years.
I have my EAD and a driving license that allows me to work without depending on my spouse.
You could be as negative as you want, it’s your choice Sir.
Goodluck to you.

** You came to ask questions but you have turned to expert overnight . You are a traveling agent who is on a brick wall . Don't push those clients into the pit.

OR

** You went as a handbag / J2- dependent visa under your wife and things did not go well and you went your way until you are out of status .

1. For trainees, J1 visa is 18 months.

2. For interns and Exchange Visitors in the hospitality field, it's 12 months.

3. For professors and research scholars, J-1 visas maximum is 5 years.

4. Which one did your wife fall into ? ?

AND

5. IF your wife J1-visa is subject to the 2-year home residency requirement (which is usually 80% ) then your wife cannot do a Change of Status to F1 inside the US and your Havard fellowship story is fake .

5. Your story is 100% contradictory .Acceptance rate for Havard fellowship is 3%. People should beware of your stories.

What’s the problem Sir?
Residency in IM is 3 years and Nephrology fellowship is 2 years starting from July 1.
What’s the issue? I have my EAD and I work here so? It’s my family and I’m fine with whatever comes out of it.

Is this how people just go out of their ways attacking others without being constructive in any way?
The mods here need to watch people here for their abusive and attacking tendencies.
A simple google search would show that people go to Canada and Mexico to renew the J1/j2 visas.

Hi, I suggest that you ignore the last poster. He is well-known here for these types of antics. He does not realize that international medical graduates (IMGs) doing a US residency can do their residency on a J1 or H1B. He also does not know that IMG residents can get a Conrad waiver to waive the 2yr home residency requirement. It is very easy for anyone to copy and paste from a website onto Nairaland and sound like they know what they are talking about. It is harder to understand the nuances of the visa information that is contained on those websites. This is often where the last poster gets stuck.

I was never on a J2 but I did my masters and PhD on F1 and residency and a fellowship on J1.

Regarding availability of dates in Nigeria, this issue seems to be common. If you read some pages back, folks have discussed this and how they eventually got over this. It seems it takes a couple of days to a few weeks to get a date confirmation. You may also want to email the consulate in Abuja or Lagos and inform them of your situation and see if they can help expedite this.

Since it appears that you qualify for an IW in Nigeria, you may not need any docs but I suggest that you have your DS2019 that shows you are in valid status as a dependent of a J1 holder and preferably a letter from your wife’s program director showing that she is still in residency (similar to an employment verification letter), and her paystubs may be helpful. Since you have an EAD, I presume that you are working. If you are working, you should have proof of your employment, SSN, and paystubs.

I never renewed in Nigeria. I always renewed in Canada or Mexico. Those are alternative locations.

My only concern is that since you wife is about to start a fellowship, It probably means that her residency finishes on 6/30. If your interview is between now and 6/30, a VO reviewing a renewal application with a DS2019 that shows an end date of 6/30 (2 months away) may find this problematic. Does she have a DS2019 from the fellowship program? If she has the new DS2019 from the new program, then make sure you take that along with her appointment letter showing a start date of 7/1 (the date most fellowships start). and the new end date (probably 6/30/26)

Also, since your visa expired less than 48 months ago but your wife is on a J1 which was for three years, it means you were probably on another visa before the J2 or your wife was on a J1 in another program before residency and you were her J2 dependent then. Either way, just make sure that you have the right immigration paperwork to account for the visa and period before residency. Those are the kinds of things that may lead an applicant to be called in for a 221g interview.

Lastly, visa renewals are never guaranteed. Although renewals are likely to be approved, especially if there is nothing adverse in your immigration history, there is always a non-zero percentage that your application will be rejected. Nobody wants to hear this but consider what you will do if your renewal application is rejected and you can’t go back to the US immediately. Good luck!

Hey 🤠

*** You just registered your account today. Its either you want an exigency way out for your situation or you have a negative mission .

1. You as a J2 visa holder is subject to your wife as the principal applicant on J1.

2. You together with your wife must be living together in the USA as J1/J2 couples (a must).

3. What happens to your wife's J1 visa automatically happens to your J2 visa (both visa is like a woman with pregnancy - unborn baby).

4. You wrote that your J2 visa expires less than 48 months ago ( let's say 40 months ) which means your wife's J1 visa has expired from the same period .

5. You and your wife have been living illegally out of status for the past let's say 3 years .

6. 90% of J1/J2 visas stipulates that you must go back to your country immediately upon the expiration of your program (30 days of grace) and must reside in your country for straight 2 years b4 you can make attempt to reapply for J1 or J2 or any other visa like B1/B2.

7. Did she process the Havard fellowship before the expiration of her J1 visa ? If yes , then you are the unborn-baby in your wife's belly. The visa she is going to use for Havard will automatically applies to you or too easy for you to change to because havard University and the US government knows that she brought you into the USA and you must be cohabiting (living) together as J2 rules stipulates.

7. But I am 100% doubting her possibility of Havard fellowship if her J1 visa expires 40 months ago. Let's assume its true , why do you need Nigeria drop box ? Don't you get? Definitely your wife on Harvard fellowship also needs renewal . Mennnn. Your story is not straight .

@Johnsick

1. Stop advertising counterfeit profiles . In your own views, does your write up connote or denote of that of a PhD holder ?

2. PhD holder from the USA who has not contributed any meaningful progress to Nairaland . PhD holder who has not even initiate publicly on Nairaland any major development and human communication research on NL.

3. Bunkum grammars and fake achievement is the hallmark of all of you , easier said than done . When last did we read visa success transcripts on Nairaland ? Upon all your WhatsApp, Facebook and hiding groups which you and your cabals have created ?

4. Cover your face with both hands . Most of what you wrote there are from my piece . You together with the OP are pupils mixing up F1 /F2 visa procedures with J1/J2.

Thank you so much!
I'll keep trying. I knew someone with understanding of the situation would reply.
Yeah, we should get the new DS-2019 in the coming days as ECFMG already stated that it has been issued. So, it's just for the programe to send it and like you mentioned i do plan to get it before leaving here. Like you correctly stated, the current one expires at the end of June and she already has her offer letter which I didn't think i would need but would make a copy of based on your suggestion.
I actually thought about that and i seem to still be interested in life in Nigeria against my wife's wishes just in the event anything goes wrong. I studied engineering and my COREN still dey intact.
Once again, thank you.

PS; the other ITK guy, i worked out of state for many months last year as an independent adjuster. Pay was about $3k weekly after tax ( not too bad for a puppet like me to climb roofs for). So, it's not a must you live with your wife all year round.
OGA! Visa did not expire more than 40 months ago, we haven't even spent 36months here. They gave 1 year visa and we renew DS-2019, EAD and drivers licenses yearly.
My son is in school and my wife doesn't need to travel to Nigeria with me. She sef get her work nau? So, as my Papa die make all of us just carry our kaya dey go Naija?

The new DS2019 issued by ECFMG should cover you then.

PS. the other poster consistently calls himself "USA immigration lawyer apprentice" but has no idea about what he talks about half the time. Just ignore him!.

Hey 🤠

** Perhaps you were intoxicated or tipsy at the time of your first question.

1. If you are real , get out of the trailer of that @Johnsick. All visa hopefuls who passed through him ended up failures.

2. All those visa jargons he was quoting has been jotted down. A PhD holder from a USA University who has not find a meaningful employment but turned a frustrated toothless bully on Nairaland .

3. I see. Your 48 months was quoting drop-box eligibility. Anyways , a king was once killed by his chiefs as a result of his inability to expound on his directives (words).

Best Wishes 🙏

Hi there,

I have a question about getting a new I-20 form and SEVIS ID if one decides to attend a different school than the one he originally got admitted to.

He is currently admitted to a US school and has already received an I-20 form with a SEVIS ID number. However, he recently got an offer from another school that he would prefer to attend.

Is it possible to get a new I-20 form with a different SEVIS ID number for the new school? If yes, could you please provide guidance through the process and what needs to be done to make the change between schools?

Thank you for your help thus far! I really appreciate it.

Hey 🤠

* A2A *

** Thank you for the pat on the back. All glory belongs to God.

1. In my personal (not offiicial data) experiences , Lagos has more population of visa applicants than Abuja, therefore securing visa appointment dates (Abuja) might be a little easier than Lagos.

2. In terms of Visa Issuances for both location , i won't state my personal preference here in order to avoid unhealthy debates or rivalry jostles. But the truth is that if you say 1+1 equals = 10 in Abuja and come to Lagos and claim same , then such person will keep failing in all USA embassy locations until he or she got the real answer which is (= 2).

3. Your 2nd question is dicey and incomplete . I don't know your academic pursuit (PhD/Msc/Bsc), i don't know your profiles , work histories, visa application histories, etc. But you don't have to write all those in the open . If i have a clue of the aforementioned info then i can guide you according to my personal experiences and private research.

4. Until then, you may go back to the beginning of this thread and comb the pages for related questions and answers.

Best Wishes 🙏

Thank you so much once again for the prompt response.

1. I am going for an Msc program.
2. This is my first ever visa application and overseas travel attempt
3. I am going for a program that is slightly different from my work history on paper, but I have been able to establish a link from my intended course of study to my work history so far (which at least made sense to the professors at the school I'm attending)

How can I get your personal preference about the visa issuances? I would love to hear it

PLEASE KINDLY RESPOND TO MY REQUEST.

1. Wisdom is profitable to direction. You want me to start narrating how a man copulate with his wife in the public where school children are many ?

2. It will generate unnecessary controversy.

It's only a thief that creates various Nairaland profiles. Talks to himself and reply himself and want to fool everyone in the guise to swindle others.

You do all these as a means of survival.

Shame on you.
