Is This A Nigerian Factor- Workplace Observation by Uche7779: 7:51am On Apr 29 |
Guys, Is this a Nigerian norm. I have been privileged to work in top companies and I find it difficult to adapt. Last October I left for one of the largest Fintechs in Nigeria and it's pretty much similar in almost everything. . Eye service is so rife. Nigerians falling over themselves for these white guys,Indians, Lebanese damn...So annoying.. . Fellow Nigerians selling their country men out to Asian, Indians, Spaniards etc. HR, not paying close to 5% of what staff in other countries earn. Completely unbelievable. . You take a decision in contrast to their belief system, and then you are in big trouble. As little as can we not work all Saturdays in a month or at least remote on Saturdays, then wahala. Finally, they deceive you will multi cultural gibberish, while racism, conscious and subconscious bias is profound. I am quitting-if I am even allowed to stay till December. Sick and tired of all these stuffs men. Bleep the pay men, I ain't wired to lick as*. . |

Not a Nigerian thing. It's corporate culture. Kissing ass, backbiting and backstabbing is the norm EVERYWHERE. There's a whole community on reddit called "antiwork" that's devoted to stuff like this. The degree of fakeness, artificial cheerfulness and counterfeit camaraderie is unbearable for anyone with even a little self respect. You have to tolerate NONSENSE. And take bullshit from your boss. Even if your boss is incompetent and a nepptism hire. Best thing is to get a little capital and start something for yourself. Or learn to kiss ass like you were born to do it. Choice is yours. 1 Like |
