GEJ will participate in his own time ![]() I think PDP has been a joke so far in this election. I'm absolutely certain he and his handbag have gotten the questions before hand. Not withstanding I wouldn't be looking forward to anything more than the presidential debate. It would only prove more to Nigerians how unfit and unintelligent this man is. He's with the questions, still, lets see if he would survive the first 5 minutes of the debate. I think any one who thinks this is what leadership is all about should get his brain checked. |
The presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the forthcoming general elections, Nuhu Ribadu, has promised that if elected as president, his administration will ensure that the north-east sub-region gets its fair share of federal presence, assuring that the issue of oil exploration in the region will be revisited. Mr. Ribadu who was in Bauchi for the presidential campaign and flag-off of the north-east zonal rally of the party, declared that Nigerians are tired of the negative rule of the PDP and will flush it out in the next general election, expressing optimism that his party will form the next government at all levels in the country. On the issue of corruption, the ACN presidential candidate also said that his administration will fight corruption among all Nigerians, no matter their status in the society. He stressed that Nigeria has enough resources to go round everybody but a privileged few have made all the available resources theirs to the detriment of the majority who are poor. He then called on Nigerians to vote for all the candidates of the ACN at all levels in order to have good governance that will be responsible to all in terms of revenue sharing anddevelopment plans. In his address, former Lagos State governor, Ahmed Tinubu, assured that the ACN is ready to fight the PDP for the control of the country becauseaccording to him, "People are desirous of change and it is only ACN that can give them the required quality leadership that will bring about positive developmental change in the country". The national chairman of the party, Bisi Akande, while presenting the party's flag to all the candidates in the north-east zone, called on the electorate to vote for them in order to bring about positive change in the zone stressing that the PDP has failed to deliver to Nigerians the desired dividends of democracy in the last 12 years of its being inpower. |
Jonathan had initially refused to participate after the station turned down his request to have the debate questions sent to him in advance. The station had no option but to suspend the debate until today. A source at NN24 told SaharaReporters today that Mr. Jonathan has agreed to participate in the debate "unconditionally". The debate is now scheduled to take place on March 18, 2011. All the major presidential candidates had earlier agreed to participate without imposing conditions. The debate between the vice presidential candidates will take place on March 11, 2011. In the 1999 election between then Olusegun Obasanjo and Olu Falae, Mr. Obasanjo refused to debate Olu Falae, the opposition candidate, because he was viewed to be ahead in the polls. In 2003, the planned debate with Gen. Buhari did not take place due to poor planning. Last month, the sitting governor in Abia State, Gov. Chief Theodore Orji, stormed out of a planned debate with his opponents. His reason was that the debate organized by the Catholic Church had a hostile environment. Despite twelve straight years of democracy, Nigerian politicians have continued to show disdain for its basic tenets. Campaigns are devoid of issues and candidates show little interest in agenda-based campaign aimed at solving the numerous problems confronting Nigeria. |
Abeg stop bringing the 'bad belle' issue here. English is our lingua franca and we expect that our so called representatives are impeccable in their delivery. stop giving silly excuses. Arabs speak a single language. we have hundreds and so English is the only way we communicate to all. Looking past the humour, this is disgraceful!! ![]() |
Buhari would be fine to lead this country, but his approach then and now are still basically the same; the reason he was smoked in a bbc hardtalk edition for 2004 when he was contesting the results of the polls in court. We know the state of the country and how very unacceptable it is but it is unheard for a Presidential candidate to make a statement, mobilizing his supporters to LYNCH anyone who tries to rig the elections. That would qualify as wrong anywhere in the world. This is an evidence that Buhari, though good intentioned cannot help us achieve our required results without shooting himself in the foot with the means he would employ in trying. My bet then is one who has so far proven to be the best of both worlds. He has age on his side, has proven himself to be a anti-corruption crusader just like Buhari is and has been able to connect to the youths of this country like no one else has before. Like we all know, previous governments have totally ignored the power of youth but this man has brought us close, communicating to us everyday and telling us how much we can do to ensure success in the upcoming polls. He has urged us to be diplomatic because if we all turn up to vote, any impending inadequacies would be exposed the world, he has not- for once - encouraged violence. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE! Whatever you decide to say about this, i know you would admit that I speak the truth. Whoever you decide to vote of the two, Its a win-Win situation just as long as PDP does not win. That's the dream of us all. May it come to pass , Amen |
Imagine Mr. President asking for expo before exams, I believe that was how he did and got his way through school, Olodo Rabata!!!! |
Former President and Menace-In-Chief of Nigeria at the PDP Presidential rally in Lagos State and echoes of irregularities that have marred past elections are beginning to sound. His statement, sang in Yoruba which translated, means Jonathan will win at all cost as "Obasanjo will not take it lightly for voting to take place without PDP winning the elections" is disrespect of the highest degree! This could also mean 'Vote or not, we will win again'. Our problem is not GEJ. No. Our problem is the PDP! So what do we do? I say we go out if you registered to vote and cast for your vote for your candidate regardless of whether you feel the PDP will win anyway. Let us take our destiny in our hands and when we get victory we would look back and say TOGETHER WE MADE IT, WE DROVE THE MENACE OUT! VOTE FOR YOUR CANDIDATE ANYWAY, YOUR VOTE IS NOT WASTED. |

Let's forget the battle between presidential candidates for a second and just take a closer look at their running mates. I want Nairalanders opinions, (Hypothetically) If the elections for President and Vice were to be held separately, who do you think would win and why? |
If Ghana has done well with their democracy, what is wrong with commending them for a job well done? I think you like some other Nigerians are just ignorant and incapable of speaking the truth because you havent even succeded in understanding what the truth is yourself. We sent the Ghanaians packing from ourcountry a couple of years back, now the reverse is the case. A ghanaian Cede exchanges for 0.66 as of today 3/3/2011 and Nigerian Naira, ? Get it into your head, mediocrity has been condoned and celebrated for too long. Its time to speak the truth and only the truth will free us from bad leaders. This post is irrelevant as the contents didn't even have any relation with its heading. I just felt I should enlighten you a little. |
9ijaMan:He had to join a party. Besides the only staetes where there is good governance in Nigeria (Lagos, Edo, Ondo, Anambra) are all ACN controlled states, i bet u can't argue on that! That was his reason for joining ACN. You are talking about Tinubu, how about Mohammed Abacha in CPC? 9ijaMan:and has allegations against Ribadu been proven? Even the allegations against him came up as a result of the feet he stepped on when he was pchairman of the EFCC. It shows that when u fight corruption, it fights back. PDP means corruption and that's Nigeria's enemy! Buhari or Ribadu, I don't mind any. |
9ijaMan:You have defintely been paid. Otherwise why would you even mention Ribadu when talking about loot? Stop being dirty! we all have one common enemy whether you are interested in politics or not and that is PDP. |
Going through all that we've witnessed during all the GEJ presidential rallies so far, I have to say that I am highly dissapointed. I have been one of those people who have felt that circumstances leading to the emergence of GEJ as president could be the dawn of a new era for Nigeria. I was so wrong! I have followed events carefully and what is evident is a man who is so confident - obviously because of the calibre of people behind him - that he can afford to say basically nothing. I have therefore come to an understanding that what the politicians feel is that they do not really need to convince us as long as they have all the big wigs and a party that has almost floored the economy of the country behind them. My question now is "Are we really that dumb?" Is there a reason that you would vote prefer this man to other candidates who take their time to show us respect by actually making a plan for the country? Is the PDP truly unbeatable? |
