@brine Sorry for bringing you in here. I just wanted to thank you for your advice so far and share a little update you on my application process as I’ve now reached a crucial stage, and will need still your advice going forward Here’s a list of things I’ve already put in place: - PAYE - VAT registration (still awaiting a response from HMRC) - Proper company branding: logo, professional website listing services, etc. - A written business proposal showing the company’s expenses for one year, as well as revenue projections for the next five years - Funded the company bank account (started funding it on 16 November) - Insurance package for the company (employers’ liability, professional indemnity and public liability), purchased with the company’s debit card - A cover letter explaining the operational necessity for a sponsor licence, compliance readiness (attendance and engagement monitoring, right-to-work checks, record-keeping, etc.), as well as sponsor management and accountability - Proof of premises - I’ve also started the sponsor application registration on Gov.uk Things I’m concerned about at the moment: - No proof of commercial relationships with client - Limited proof of trading (the company has yet to issue an invoice or earn revenue) - Not enough money in the company’s bank account (after removing the first year’s operational costs, the remaining balance is £10.1k) Things I plan to do (before finally applying on 11 January 2026): - Issue two invoices to the contractor I currently work with - Deposit £9k tomorrow, or by Monday at the latest, into the company account to demonstrate the ability to pay several months of salary I should mention that I will not be paying myself yet until I get a response from the sponsor licence application btw, I believe doing these 2 things will strengthen my application a lot and make the company look more legitimate. Could you let me know what do you think, brother? Modified: Hey @brine, when you have a moment, could you please take a look at this and let me know your thoughts on my progress so far? |

Hi bro No need apologizing as there's no offence taken. I'm glad that you have proceeded further with your application. You seem to be right on track. By "cover letter", you mean the business proposal, right? You shouldn't worry about the first 2 things you mentioned. I had no client and no payments received when I applied for mine. However, I had over 30k in my business account. I think the amount you have in your account might be fine but if you can bump it up, please do. Feel free to ask if you're still unsure about anything. |

brine:Thank you very much, man. I appreciate you taking your time to respond. The business proposal and the cover letter I’ve written aren’t quite the same. The business proposal I wrote focused more on the setup of the company: the vision, mission, details about the services the company offers, market analysis, business model, operations plan, financial plan and the whole shebang. The cover letter, however, is where I decided to divulge more information about the systems that have been put in place to perform sponsor duties like attendance and engagement monitoring, right to work checks, record keeping etc. Which reminds me, I need to go back and make the reason why the company needs an overseas worker make sense. I'm not very sure what to say there because I'm overthinking it a lot. I’ve not made myself clear earlier when I mentioned the bank account balance. The balance (that I have now), minus the first year expense, is only going to pay ~6.5 months of salary. Do you think this is a good standing? Also, someone just recently mentioned to me about ICO data protection registration, but I don’t think that’s necessary, is it? Since you didn’t mention it. |

Hey @gabiomoesu, sorry I've been afk due to the holidays. I didn't add a cover letter to mine but should be fine if you do. My business proposal was focused on the business as if I was pitching it to investors. It didn not include "the reason why the company needs an overseas worker". 6.5 months salary should be fine. Do you have other business expenses like rent, etc? No, I didn't do ICO data protection registration. |

brine:That’s fine man. I hope you’re enjoying your free time so far Yeah I wouldn’t bother with the ICO data protection either tbh The only expense I’ve made thus far is the insurance policy I bought. I’m thinking of buying some materials as well in the first few days in January. Regarding the issue of justifying why the company needs to hire overseas workers, do you not think I need to provide one? |
| Re: Enjoy Smooth And Full-flavoured Hits: Mr. Fog Switch Kiwi Watermelon Acai Ice by brine(m): 10:29pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
gabiomoesu:No bro, I didn't provide any evidence justifying why the company needs to hire overseas workers. I think the role just needs to meet the requirements(correct occupation code, skill level rules, salary/going rate, and the person can actually do the job). You can also include an org chart if you haven't already. Feel free to send more questions my way if you have any ![]() |

brine:I know the organisational chart should go into the business plan but regarding the above quoted point regarding the role, where am I meant to include that in the application? |

Not sure bro, I didn't put that anywhere in my application. |
