Here is my first actual attempt in painting. It's a still life painting with poster colour on paper. It was a real bad one, but I got the chance to repeat it, and with that, did a slightly better one, that same day.

I found out got better so quickly than I thought I would. Better at mixing and blending colours. But still suck with background and foreground, especially with the first one here.

Another stii life fruit painting.

My first landscape painting. I tried making it realistic as much as possible. This location is behind old drawing Studio, site 2, Delta State University, Abraka.

At this point, I was getting more accurate in colour mixing and blending. Also better with backgrounds. This was less than a month of my first painting.

A still life painting.
This one looked so much 3d, but I've got a problem with casting shadows.

I was so sick and tired of the water colours, especially because of the way it reduces chroma once the painting gets dry. So I summoned the courage, got a this pack of acrylic paints, and this was the first thing I painted.

It was surprising how quickly acrylics dry, but has a high level of chroma.

Blending was really hard here as it dries as soon as I applied the paint.

Potentials

September 2023. This would be my 4th or 5th painting with acrylic. At this time, I was getting better at blending and detailing, creating much realistic works.

So I came home one day and saw this JW brochure with a seedling image captioned "Dey Patient". I was inspired by the image and decided to paint it. I however called the painting "Potentials".

A seedling as an example has a potential which can either been fostered or hindered. The farmer or caretaker can make every effort to make sure the young plant grow big to be useful to mankind in the future thereby actualising its potential. The farmer/caretaker or an enemy may still decide to kill the plant it Its young stage thereby hindering it's potential from coming to pass.

Well this artwork is really not about a plant or seedling as it is illustrated. It's about human beings. Every young child has a potential in life which can be fostered by providing support for that child's dream as soon as his parents/caretakers notice it so as to actualise that child's dream. It can also be hindered because of some evil reason which may result to damaging the child's potential.

One can also strive to bring his dream to pass with passion.
Zig Ziglar wrote: 'When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that's when passion is born". Discover your God-given purpose, fuell it by passion, and strive for it through persistence and that's how your potential can be actualised.

A few still life paintings. At this point, I was still painting on paper, but getting better overall, especially with detailing.

Here's one piece I created in March, 2024. At this point I was really getting better. It was my first time to really detail a painting. My aim was to make it as realistic as an HD photo. I tried the lens blur effect with the background too. It took me 7 days to complete and was such a great experience!

Fortune did it 🖌️

Both guavas are hanging together on the same branch of the same tree. One of them is already ripe, while the other one may need more time to ripen. Nature is teaching us an important lesson through these guavas. When we see others around us achieving success while we have not, it does not mean we are unsuccessful. It simply means that the right time for us has not yet come. So, we must hold on, be patient, and not give up out of frustration. We might just be a few days away from reaching our ripened state. Remember, our time will come, too, but it requires patience and perseverance.

Here are some miniature paintings I did recently as prototypes of the actual paintinings which I would be doing soon. I may make some adjustments while doing the paintinings on canvas.
