Treating catfish pond water with oyster shells.

pH buffering: Oyster shells contain calcium carbonate, which can help stabilize water pH levels by acting as a buffer against pH fluctuations. This is especially useful in soft water areas or when high-protein feeds are used, which can cause pH to drop.

Water hardness: Oyster shells can increase water hardness, providing essential minerals like calcium and magnesium for fish health and maintaining a stable environment.

Aeration: In shallow ponds, the addition of oyster shells can help break up fine sediments on the pond bottom, improving water aeration and reducing the risk of low oxygen levels that can stress or harm fish.
