_together we succeed_

Rice is primarily composed of carbohydrate, which makes up almost 80% of its total dry weight.

Most of the carbohydrate in rice is starch. Starch is the most common form of carbohydrate in foods.

Starch is made up of long chains of glucose called amylose and amylopectin. Different types of rice have varying amounts of these compounds, which affects the texture of the rice:

Basmati rice is rich in amylose, meaning it does not stick together after cooking.
Sticky rice, or glutinous rice, is low in amylose and high in amylopectin, making it sticky after cooking. This makes it ideal for risottos, rice pudding, and eating with chopsticks.

Improving feed utilisation is important. Scientist therefore measured individual weekly feed intake and body weight of broilers to characterise the dynamic feed intake patterns and investigate their relationship with growth performance.

Over the past few decades, significant improvements in the feed intake and feed utilisation efficiency of broilers have been achieved through advanced breeding procedures, although dynamic changes in feed intake and their effects on the feed conversation rate have remained unclear.

Chinese scientist from the State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding and Frontier Science Centre for Molecular Design at China Agricultural University in Beijing, carried out a study measuring individual weekly feed intake and body weight of 274 male broilers to characterise the dynamic feed intake patterns and investigate their relationship with growth performance.
