Hi everyone. I'm creating this thread as a journal for my Dry season vegetables farm. In this dry season, I intend to produce Tete, Ewedu and Cucumber majorly. I can add potatoes later as an Option. |

So far, land has been acquired. I paid 30k/acre for a one year rent, and rented a total of 5 acres. Clearing and Burning of bush has been done. Packing is in progress. A little setback was encountered during burning, as the irrigation stuffs I already moved to farm got burnt. The guys burning the bush didn't pay attention to the tanks (which contains some drip tapes and other stuffs), and everything got burnt in the process. Luckily, I hadn't moved everything to farm, otherwise, the project would have died. |

For Tete and Ewedu, I will be using Spray Tube (Also know as rain Hose) irrigation. For Cucumbers, I will be using Drip irrigation. Should I add Okra later, it will fall under drip irrigation. If I add Potatoes, it will fall under the Spray Tube section. So far, Packing of unburnt woods/logs is in progress. The packing should be completed by Thursday, and making of Beds should hopefully start on Friday. I will update this thread as things progress. |

This is part of what APC should be targetting to simplify dry season farming. Mass produce irrigation kits from the plastic Dangote refinery releases and give to farmers cheaply so production doesn't stall for 6 months of no or little rain. They are building Flyover and highways. |

Just curious to know what happened afterwards. What about the remaining irrigation materials? Were they enough to cover for the 5 acres of land? Were you able to properly manage the size of vegetable farm being a first timer (so i think)? What was your output like for each crop you produced? Did you get the profit margin you anticipated? After subtracting your cost of production, was it really worth it within the three-four months which you produced? |

Also, how were you able to market that large quantity of vegetables being a first timer (so i think)? Also, how were you able to determine the price and quantity for that period? |
