THE ECONOMICS OF CASSAVA CHIPS.... The economics of Cassava Chips production would never add up profitably, if one is not located in a Cassava production favoured environment, like the Ibarapa axis of Oyo state. I bet there are fewer areas across Nigeria where the local landing cost of cassava tubers at the moment is as low as N125,000 - N130,000 per ton. Not only that, places in Ibarapa North and Iwajowa local government of the state have comparatively cheaper manpower cost, especially in manual drying of chips, that it will take the best of efficiency for even a mechanical dehydrator to beat in productive costing. No wonder that the large scale user companies from faraway Ondo, Kogi and even Benue state largely depend on volume supplies from this area despite notable cultivation of cassava tubers in their different localities. Aspiring Cassava chips investors therefore need to take cognizant of the business environment, and device means of measuring up competitively, especially when targeting local market. For establishing a Commercial Capacity Cassava chips production facility, access to low cost Cassava tubers is key. Then, consider putting in place effective and efficient dehydrator, with cheap alternative energy source. These three elements/factors are highly essential for thriving and sustainability of the business. God no go shame us. Kazeem Lamidi https:///2348100975775 |
