Natural Repellants For Fulani Cows by Ofodirinwa(op): 5:18pm On Apr 02, 2025
Those of you who farm or know farmers, consider this: there are natural deterants from cows entering your farm. Some will deter, some will actually kill the cow. Here are a few and how to apply them. My answers are from Chatgpt, if you know others, share.

Natural Repellents
Capsaicin (Hot Pepper Spray): Mix chili peppers with water and spray around the field. Cows dislike the spicy smell and taste.

get a spray device, get an enclosed bottle. Fill bottle with water, and hot peppers. Let it sit in dark for four days.
Fill spray device with the juice, spray your crops.

It will last 2-3 weeks, for reapply every 2 weeks.

To enhance effectiveness, mix with mild amounts of liquid soap.

Alternatives (they're less effective and last 1 week)

Neem Oil: Acts as a natural deterrent for many animals.

Garlic & Onion Spray: Cows dislike the strong smell and will avoid treated areas.

FATAL Repellants (safe for human consumption, doesn't harm plants)

Castor Beans
Get castor beans, they are rich in Ricin. only a grain of salt worth of ricin will kill a cow. soak them in water for 3 days. You can mix a drop of alcohol to speed up the absorption.
Application: Lasts 2 weeks on plants, Spray liquid on crops. does not effect soil, minimal to no effect on humans in small doses. kills in 24-72 hours

Oleandar (Nerium Oleander)
Fast acting, causes temors, death in 24hrs

Boil plant in fresh water for 30 mins.
1 liter of water per 100 gram of plant material
Cool it
Place in bottle or spray device
Spyay
Durations: 1 week in dry season, 5 days in non-dry season.

Euphorbia Tirucalli (Pencil Tree Plant)
Slow death, cause dehydration and severe diarrhea. Good for avoiding reprisal attacks
Can irritate human eyes and skin

Apply: Cut stems and let milky sap drip into container.
Mix 1 part sap to 2 parts water.
Lasts 1-2 weeks, resistant to rain (can be mixed with other solutions in rainy season for to enhance longevity.

There are also solutions to use to eliminate the cows before the even reach your farm

Ricin Mud
Fast death, 24-72 hours

Crush 50g of castor beans into a paste

Mix with glycerine and vegetable oil

Mix, in large quantities, into mud
spray a road and walkway with the mud ahead of cows moving on path.

If the cow's hooves have cracks (and Fulani cows do because they're poorly cared for and not shoed like cows of educated herders)
It will absorb through the cracks and into the cows bloodstream. After stepping on the mud, cow dies in 24 hours. This timing also helps prevent reprisal attacks.

Duration: effective for 1-2 weeks

MOST FATAL

Strychnine from Stychonos Nux-Vomica plant

absorbed through skin if mixed with oils and alcohol

500 mg of strychnine in 50 ml of alcohol
mix with animal fat or lanolin for prolonged contact
apply with water in wet mud.

lasts 2 weeks

kpias within hours

There is a method I deviced but never used.

Just buy Rat poison, and paper Gum (sold in bookShops)

rub one side of Cassava leaf with gum, apply some Rat poison (half tea spoon) on top of it, then place another leaf on top of it so the rat poison is sandwiched in between both leaves, just like meat Pie / sandwich.

That way, when they chew on the leaves (e.g Cassava leaves), they eat the one with the poison. This would even survive rainy season and the plant even continues growing without being affected.

though I can't really say the Yam or Cassava tuber under ground would be safe for human consumption.

Should Nigerians get serious and Aggressive with this kinda campaign, they would be some level of improvement because person wey dey live for Ikotun Lagos but working at Okota Lagos could do it at Okota far away from where they reside.

Someone living at Jakande could do it in isolo or Ejigbo.

That way, except you caught red handed, chances of being suspected, let alone caught would be very very slim.

The moment Fulani i-d-i-o-t-s understand that even an ordinary passerBy could do such, they get discouraged and more careful.

Please be careful with your poisoning campaign against Fulani herders and their cows. Do it intelligently so that they won't trace the deaths of their cattle to you. Cheers.

it doesn't even need to be everybody. Once they are in your town, perpare the necessary and spray down the crops. If this happens a few times the risk won't be worth it.

I believe there are towns in Akwa Ibom that have repelled them for years using the pepper spray, talkless of the poisons.

There's nothing like being caught red-handed. There are no laws in spraying your crops with any of these natural elements. And the cows don't die immediately. Often the next day or two so by the time they die, the herdsman and police will have to tell themselves which of the many vegetations a cow eats in 1 day killed it.

Of course there's the high chance of the Nigerian police being stupid to everyone but if these implements are mad available, farmers will use them. You don't have to sneak and spray people's farms against their will.

Make the implements available, even sell them as a business. You can sell the pepper spray as pepper spray for safety against armed robbery, but sell bulk packages to farmers.

are castor beans rare in Nigeria?

Castor bean oil is big money abroad o, especially if it comes from Africa because it's 'organic'. Someone here can begin farming it, here. When you remove the poison, it's good for hair. So sell the non-poisoned one for hair, and the poisoned one as 'pesticide', only the pest na cow
