Is Tech Skill Going To Affect The Agricultural System? by Aniahbaby(op): 9:33am On Jun 23, 2025
The talk of the town lately is tech skills. Tech skill this, tech skill that. But what most people don’t understand is that tech skills are actually one of the best things that have happened to us humans.

Now, I’ve heard people say things like,
"If everyone is learning tech, who’s going to do the farming?"
"Are we all going to turn to tech and leave the soil behind?"
"Won’t we end up starving if nobody wants to be a farmer anymore?"

But here’s the truth: this mindset comes from not knowing the full picture.

What many don’t realize is that tech skills can actually improve agriculture. Yes, you heard that right. Tech and farming can go hand in hand.

Let’s reason this together.
A farmer harvests a lot of farm produce and sells everything out. But at the end of the day, he can’t tell how much he made, how much he spent, or what’s left. Why? Because he didn’t keep records.

Now imagine if that same farmer had some basic tech skills – simple things like tracking sales, analyzing data, and marketing online. He would know exactly where his money is going, what is selling fast, and how to reach more customers.

So, the question now is:
What kind of tech skills can help your agricultural business?

Two powerful ones I’ll recommend are:
Digital Marketing
Data Analysis

Let me explain why.
Digital Marketing

This is all about communicating with your customers online.
Let’s say you don’t have enough buyers or referrals; what do you do?
With digital marketing skills, you can connect with your target audience on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
You can build a brand identity for your farm products and start selling them beyond your street, your town, and even your state.
Data Analysis

This is where you learn to track and understand your numbers.
With this skill, you’ll be able to compile data on your sales, customers, and stock. You’ll detect what’s missing, see patterns, and fix errors fast. It helps you make better decisions and, ultimately, more profit.

I’ve even seen platforms like 1TechAcademy include training for people who are not even techy, just to help them adapt these skills into everyday businesses, including farming. It’s not just for tech bros; even the everyday hustler can relate.

So, instead of asking whether tech will destroy agriculture, the real question should be:
How can we use tech to make agriculture better, smarter, and more profitable?

The future is not tech versus farming.
It’s tech plus farming, smart farmers, more food, and more money in your pocket.
