Materials Used In Greenhouse Construction (I) ; The Framing Materials by Nobody: 10:17am On Jul 25, 2025
The frame is the skeleton of your greenhouse, providing structural integrity and supporting the covering.
The following materials can be used as a framing material when constructing a greenhouse .
They include :

* Wood: A traditional and aesthetically pleasing choice, wood (such as cedar or redwood) offers good insulation and is relatively easy to work with.
However, it requires treatment to resist rot and pests, and its lifespan can be shorter than metal options.

* Aluminum: Lightweight, durable, and rust-proof, aluminum is a popular choice for prefabricated greenhouse kits. It's low-maintenance and can be easily assembled.

* Galvanized Steel: Stronger and more durable than aluminum, galvanized steel offers excellent resistance to wind and snow loads.
The galvanization process protects it from rust. However, it can be heavier and more difficult to work with than aluminum.

* PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): A budget-friendly and lightweight option, PVC piping is easy to cut and assemble. It's best suited for smaller, temporary, or seasonal greenhouses as it can become brittle over time with UV exposure and may not withstand heavy winds or snow.
