The glazing material ,also known as the covering material ,determines how much light enters your greenhouse and how well it retains heat. They include the following : * Polyethylene Film: The most economical option, polyethylene film is a flexible plastic sheeting. It's lightweight, easy to install, and allows for good light transmission. However, it has a limited lifespan (typically 2-5 years) and can be prone to tearing. Look for UV-stabilized films for better durability. * Polycarbonate Panels: Available in twin-wall or multi-wall configurations, polycarbonate offers excellent insulation and impact resistance. It diffuses light, reducing hot spots, and is significantly more durable than polyethylene film (lifespan of 10+ years). While more expensive upfront, its longevity and insulating properties often make it a worthwhile investment. * Glass: The classic greenhouse material, glass provides superior light transmission and a beautiful, clear view. It's very durable and long-lasting, but it's also the most expensive, heaviest, and most fragile option. Safety glass (tempered or laminated) is recommended to prevent injury in case of breakage. * Fiberglass: Offers good light diffusion and reasonable durability. It's lighter than glass but can become brittle over time with UV exposure. * * Shade Cloth: Used externally to reduce light intensity and heat buildup during hot periods
