Dear Members of the Avocado Society of Nigeria,

One of the most common challenges we observe among our farmers is improper spacing and planting density in avocado orchards. Many farmers, in an attempt to maximize early yields, plant trees too close together, leading to long-term problems.

The following are good practice for your Avocado Farms

✅ Adopt the recommended spacing of 8m x 8m for standard varieties
✅ Use 6m x 6m spacing for semi-dwarf varieties
✅ Consider the hexagonal planting pattern to optimize land use while maintaining adequate spacing
✅ Plan for mechanization and ease of movement during harvest
